Decided to push back the theme "prayer" to later this week cos the pic fits well with the other themes!

So, today it's like only Day 10: Modern.

And Imma use this day as a lil teaser ;)

I at SOME point will finally draw out Daki's story to reveal all this content, but enjoy the bits of Modern Volo as a lil taste of what's to come.

Day 9: Prayer - God answered, just not the one he prayed to

Day 12: Wielder - Volo has a lot friendship evo Pokemon, so it makes me believe they fight for him til the bitter end.

Day 13 + 14: Tea + Confrontation - I'd think Volo would need to take some shelter after what he's done. Cogita seems to be the most neutral party, doesnt mean she wouldnt have a thing to say or two

Volotober Day 8: Home

“That place is not my home.”

Little backstory for why Rei’s there: While I was drawing for day 8 and 9, I realized it would fit another AU I had brewing. I just call it the Sinnoh Clan AU, since the premise is to have everyone (barring Jubilife Village) assimilate into one giant clan that worships Arceus, Palkia, and Dialga. Volo, Rei, Irida, Adaman, and the others all grow up together in the Sinnoh clan.

Special children are chosen to undergo training as a ‘champion’ to serve one of the deities, and both Volo and Rei were part of the group chosen to serve Arceus. However, at the tail end of the final competition, Arceus makes a ‘public’ show of choosing Rei as his champion over Volo even though he won fair and square. There are already rumors that Volo was seen consorting with the exiled god, Giratina, so the rest of the clan members take it as a sign that Arceus doesn’t want him to remain in the clan.

Unfortunately for Volo, the strange lightning that affects the Nobles happens right after, which doesn’t help his case one bit. He’s chased out of the clan after one of the Nobles attacks them, narrowly escaping death when he’s taken in by an older couple from a nearby village.

Rei, who now holds the highest power in the clan as Arceus’ champion, secretly looks for him to apologize and bring him back (since he doesn’t believe that he’s cursed). But Volo is obviously resentful of his former friend, and refuses to go back under his ‘pity’.

My (3 hrs late) submission for #Volotober2022! I only saw the prompt list recently so I didn’t have much time to really think over this weekend’s prompts. :< This was so rushed haha. I’ll be doing the peaceful mode to avoid burning out.

Anyway, this is supposed to be set during the village festival. Just Volo and his trusty eldritch partner in crime enjoying the calm before they bring the storm.

i really wish they would’ve shown him in a yukata too during the ending artwork.

It’s not shown here (since I was rushing these prompts), but my favorite hcs for Volo’s Togepi are the “deviled egg” hcs 😆 It’s adorable to think of her mirroring and wholeheartedly scheming with him. I just love the idea of Volo’s whole team acting completely differently from what’s expected of their species <3 no matter what, they’re ride or die ✨
