Operation Kuron

Hey, so as some of you may have noticed something fishy was going on with “Shiro” in season 3. And while we may all be glade to have him back (even with his new look), this man 

may not be our beloved space dad. As my friends and I were ranting about the changes made to him in season 3, a thought came upon us. What if that man was the what the fandom has dubbed Kuro, Shiro’s galra clone. It would make sense. I mean ever since we first lay eyes on him in this season something was… off. He starts out in a Galra ship alone….. completely unsupervised. You would think the prized champion, head of Voltron who has already escaped once would be heavily guarded. But that’s not the case, even when he’s exploring the halls there is nothing until he stumbles upon the real Shiro, who we see being experimented on. While they play this off as being a flashback, but that doesn’t actually start until later when we see Kuro remembers the experiments performed on him in what is called, Operation Kuron. After this flashback he is finally caught by the guards only to have stage 3 of the operation start upon his escape. And while Shiro’s luck seems to follow him (let Shiro rest 2k17), his reactions to them were just off. Maybe it was just me over analyzing but when he was fighting or interacting with people he seemed a bit more naive, like he was missing some experience. Now fast forward to being back with the crew. Yet again he has convenient space amnesia and these strange headaches. On top of that he is very unwelcoming. While in the first season he is open to meeting new people immediately after crash landing on earth and emerging from a medically induced deep sleep. While in season 3 he refuses to talk to his little space family until encouraged to by Keith. It’s just a weird twist in his personality. The black lion also refused to accept Kuro when he tries to pilot it. I highly doubt after the intense bonding Black and Shiro did in season 2, that it would all be thrown down the drain. If Zarkon was able to connect to the black lion after 10,000 years with a weaker bond than Shiro, why can’t he connect now. Sure many will argue that the black lion saved Kuro so it has to be Shiro, but maybe black waited so long because they knew it wasn’t Shiro or what if black couldn’t distinguish the two from such a long difference. Another one of the striking changes was the physical attributes.  

Shiro is mature looking with defined muscles, a chiseled jaw, and he is rather tall. His hair is tricolor with varying lengths. 

Kuro on the other hand is much younger overall. His face is rounder his muscles are less developed, and he doesn’t have the same height advantage over the other paladins as he did before. note to mention his hair is only bi-color with two lengths. Not to mention the unusual growth of his hair. When it was long it was all a relatively uniform length, which wouldn’t be the result of the three different lengths growing. It would be choppier and uneven. This is the assuming he was gone long enough for his hair to grow that much to begin with, which is unlikely since human hair only grows an average of 6 inches a year. On top of all of this he chooses a new outfit. When he went missing he was wearing his paladin armor meaning his regular outfit it tucked away safely in his room. Why would he choose something completely different for no apparent reason. I’m going to hold off on any celebrations because he

isn’t the same Shiro we know and love.
