"Shit what are you- what did you do?"

Damned be the girl who played with fire. Heavy wheezes wriggled their way out of Lux’s chest, the girl was having immense trouble breathing. She could feel the fire within her chest, the warmth of something burning strangely uncomfortable for once in her life. Ears picking up on a snapping sound, a consistent crick-crackling that wasn’t coming from her hands, her best attempts were made to ignore it. The sound rose in her ears like the fire she could see around her, everywhere that her eyes darted to and from were the reddish-orange lights she’d come to love. The fire in her hands seemed to only grow into a glowing white hot mass. “What do you think I did, Riain?”

Turning her head back to get a look, to look at him, she kept her face obscured behind her thick hair. Faint light peaked between the dark strands and danced across her shoulders. “What else could I have done? What else do you think I could possibly fucking d- someone came in and they started- I panicked and they had guns and they-” Speaking required her breathing to pick up. Breathing got harder, thinking got hastier, a numb void feeling encased her body save for the searing, incinerating, all out burning sensation coursing through her veins.

Mind power quickly running to a halt, a decision was made to face the man she considered a friend. Turning towards The King, she allowed him to see that which she tried to ignore. Her body was burning from the inside out, overheating to the point that any tears blocked out by adrenaline vaporized into steam. The skin on her fingers was finally starting to melt away, leaving charred bone in their wake. A hole was boring its way through her chest, leaking out some smoky liquid and once that she noticed that The King had seen it, a hand moved to acknowledge it. Covering it. Hiding it. “…It really is bad, isn’t it?”

Adrenaline wearing off, realization setting in, Lux began to truly feel the searing pain throughout her body. She tried her best to keep in the noises of pain, but she couldn’t help but sob. “This really is- Oh my god, oh my god- Riain, I always… I said I’d go out in a blaze a’ glory but not like this, not like- fucking help me, Riain, don’t you fucking dare just stand there-!”

“Oh, shut up. You wanna be next on my burn list?” The tiefling girl held another fireball in her hand, one nothing if not exactly like the one she’d used to start a blaze within a forest. Nothing had been going right for her, not today, not for the past week and it had finally caught up with her. Emotions fraying at the seams, the easiest thing to do seemed to be what she always did. Burn.

Her thief friend had left her to get caught by the police after a heist gone wrong, she had to burn them to get out of there, she then proceeded to burn her former friend alive in their own home. Lux was on edge, she didn’t have time for some entitled bitch to get all snooty with her. “Listen here you crown-horned fuck, you can take your ye olde ass to some ye olde castle on the hill and leave me the fuck alone.”

Still fast asleep she was before Ryan’s voice plucked her out of whatever stupid dream she still enjoying. A rustling of sheets joined with the smallest possible look backwards at her boyfriend, only half-meeting his eyes. The angle only allowed her to see part of his face, not to mention her vision was still somewhat groggy from sleep. “Mmmmwhat? What?”

An ‘I love you’. How she loved to hear those three words spill out of his mouth, it almost made up for him waking her up from her dream. But, still, as cheesy as it was, almost every second with him was like a dream. A soft chuckle escaped her lips, shuffling and turning herself around so she could face her boyfriend give him a kiss. 

“Love you too, baby.” Another kiss before snuggling herself back up to Ryan. “Now, lemme sleep, huh? We’ve got all the time in the world to tell each other that, if you wanna see me lookin’ pretty for all that time, you should… y’know, beauty sleep.”
