And if I said clown behavior??? If I said what a cheap attempt at excusing no women inheriting any claims other than Rhaenyra???

Baela was raised by her salt and sea side. Her blood and fire side neglected and ignored her. And then they only accepted her as valuable when she was viewed as a future wife and mother. Rhaenyra fought to push her bastard on the seat of Driftmark to reaffirm her position subsequently passing over Baela. Corlys passes over both his granddaughters for his bastard grandson because he’s more obsessed with his name than his blood.

But now the show has run into the fact that actually team black is only propping up one woman, so what do they do? They have Driftmark be freely offered to a woman and have her turn it down so it can be taken by a man and follow book canon. Because naturally, Baela would have no ambitions of her own. Naturally, Baela would never stand for her sister to take the seat. She only exists to empower Rhaenyra! She believes in feminism!! So she has to support Rhaenyra’s claim to the IT and not accept her own claim to Driftmark.

Because feminism for team black is just Rhaenyra is special and has a right to rule. But all other women should exist solely to prop Rhaenyra up and have no claims.

What a complete and utter joke this show can be.

my thoughts on hotd s2 as a whole. if you disagree please keep it to yourself unless you can be civil about it.

it’s a good second season when watched in a vacuum, ignoring the book. i don’t like how they changed and merged some character’s plot lines (rhaena and nettles!!!!) from the first season and the book, but some parts of it aren’t that bad. they tanked some of team green’s characters, but it’s not a shitfest like people have been saying. depending on how s3 goes, the characters who we view as “ruined” might not be ruined when we see the full picture.

yes, some of alicent’s decisions don’t make sense and are contradictory. surprise! that’s how real people act in times of crisis, not to mention she’s in a constant state of grief. yes, aemond did a complete 180 from how he was in season 1 (this one is less defendable but i still don’t completely hate it).

i think season 2 is more interesting than season 1, but it’s not necessarily better. parts of me want to give it a 4, but i also think it wasn’t bad enough for that, considering there are a lot of episodes i liked, but had minor problems with. my rating might change when season 3 airs based on how s3 utilizes the changes s2 made to the story.

Ok but also think they may have just made Rhaena have the most compelling plot of any character they better not fumble this imagine coming from the dragon family and you're the one loser without a dragon and you've tried and almost died several times in an attempt to get one and you get sent away during a war where you desperately want to help because without a dragon you're as useless as any other woman in westeros (dragons make you special).

And then you finally claim a dragon - not one from a cradle or one that's had a rider but a *wild* dragon and your dad who spent his whole life ignoring you loves you and spends time with you and your stepmother who sent you away has to call you back so you can fight for her and THEN something happens and your stepmother orders your father to go on a riverlands kamikaze mission where he gets killed so bad they can't even find his body.

AEGON II TARGARYEN & SUNFYRE in HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Season 2, Episode 4, "The Red Dragon and the Gold"

I’ve really been enjoying HOTD S2 and, while I have my nitpicks, I generally enjoy the way they’ve adapted the characters and given them flaws, boons, arcs !! The Greens in particular going into S2, but Rhaenyra and Daemon — both of whom I didn’t really like, or get — have really stood out to me.

As of Episode 5, chief among my few grievances is Sunfyre :(( … Aegon has become one of my favourite characters and I like him because he is a hot mess and oh so tragic poor baby but I wish there had been more space (outside of a... 5 second clip before he rides off to battle) for his, like, one redeemable quality: SUNFYRE!!!!

How am I, the audience who may or may not know anything about Fire & Blood, supposed to believe that Sunfyre the Golden was the most glorious and beautiful dragon if I didn’t see him until the episode he is maimed!?

Maybe Larys will exposit that information for us at some point idk
