Thinking about Hex inner circle relationships. Like..

Lettie calling Arthur her brother and Arthur resonating with it

Which is incredibly ironic with the fact that Eleanor word for word goes, "if she asked, I would not mind dating her at all"

Lettie and Eleanor's whole thing. Like. They've got history. They match each other in ways neither of them really want to admit.

Quincy and Aoi's friendship. They mean so much to me. Quincy calling her "His fav girl", getting her info of designer brands for, seemingly, no cost. Having no problem dropping his guard around her with only a mild warning of "if you tell anyone about this, I'll kill you" but he's not at all serious and Aoi KNOWS that. Like she knows Quincy has a soft spot for her and takes complete advantage if that in good fun. I could go on about them tbh.

Amir's potential crush on Aoi. I saw a post about this ages ago but it's very true that a lot of Amir's thoughts on relationships and so on resonate with his friendship with Aoi. Wanting to ask her to dance?? Like cmon now. Aoi's unwavering trust in him. My soul.

Eleanor having a soft spot for Amir because she knows exactly what's in his head and.. oughh. Not babying but but helping him when he needs her. Him knowing that she'll be listening when he needs her and not hesitating to call out.

Quincy and Arthur's whole.. thing. They reflect each other a lot. Like a lot a lot. Quincy dogging on Arthur and meaning well. Arthur knowing about Quincy's quiet deals and not doing a thing about it.

Aoi and Lettie finding emotional solace in each other. Lettie comforting and Aoi helping (lovingly forcing) Lettie out of her shell.

The Hex taking pictures of the Drifter but they ALWAYS look like analog horror photos of Bigfoot photos and there's zero in between.

None of them have an actual picture of Drifter.

The civvies ask what the blurry photos are and they just say "Oh yeah! That's our weird void cryptic that lives in the wall of an abandoned clothes store."

yep... on the topic of The New War Epilogue, i do think it's rather distasteful for us, the player, to be the one choosing the Lotus' identity, right after an arc where she is quite literally Taking Back Her Autonomy.

but for purposes of illustrating her psychological dilemma, for encouraging the player to think about what she's been through, i don't see how DE could have ever done it in a perfect way. this is a very high concept choice for a video game.

"Your mother has just returned home after being freed from her abuser who has manipulated her over literal centuries, and she doesn't know who she is anymore." "Can you help her? Like how she once did for you?"

like... that's an incredible plot beat, right? it's phenomenal. if i think about this too hard again i'm gonna cry again.

the ludonarrative dissonance is undeniable and i think it's reasonable to be put off by it... but from a psychological viewpoint, how this has made us think about her suffering, her character, how she relates to us... i still think the Natah/Lotus/Margulis choice is nothing short of beautiful.
