gaston probably comes from a toxic environment where his mom basically told him he was perfect all his life and that he deserved the world and that he was the most handsome thing ever while he father probably made him feel inadequate and constantly ridiculed everything he did in hopes to make him “man up” and it created the lovely man we all know as gaston today.

        he  arrived  at  the  village  as  a  prince,  now,  and  YEARS  in  the  past.  t'was  the  umpteenth  time  he  had  pleasured  himself  in  visiting  this  place  :  before  his  curse,  he  had  come  several  times  with  his  father,  learning  how  it  was  to  be  amongst  the  villagers  who  lived  so  far  in  SQUALOR  compared  to  him  and  his  own  !  it  was  the  third  visit,  however,  after  that  damnéd  curse,  and  the  third  time  his  wide  eyes  cherished  these  lands.  though  they  bustled,  he  wished  now  only  to  learn  :  not  IGNORE.  

                      ne'er  would  the  prince  forget  the  voice  of  the  man  who  had  pierced  him  thrice  with  bullets  and  killed  him  once,  though.  THRICE  though  it  had  been  that  he  had  come  to  the  village,  this  was  the  first  time  he  e'er  stumbled  upon  gaston.  his  countenance,  once  pleasant,  nearby,  and  cheerful,  now  changed  to  one  more  distant  and  cold  ;  NO  WARMTH  would  come  afforded  as  he  turned  toward  the  man  to  meet  him.  a  prince  had  his  manners,  yes,  but  not  for  those  who  had  none  for  him ;  and  his  expression  told  of  it.            ❛  is  that  any  way  to  treat  your  PRINCE  ?  ❜            nearly  crowned  :  close  to  a  king.  but  not  yet.            ❛  i  suppose  you’ll  be  disappointed  to  know  that  she  has  declined  to  come  this  visit.  she  is  remarkably  happy  at  the  castle,  if  you  ever  wish  to  SEE  her.  ❜            blue  eyes  twinkled,  kindness-devoid. 

there   were   so   many   things   the   former     war  hero     wanted   to   say   to   the   man.      but   his   problem   was   when   anger   filled   him   words   failed   him.     now   was   one   of   those   times   as   he   let   the   words   spoken   by   the   man   sink   in   for   a   moment.     of   course   he   wouldn’t   let   them   discourage   himself   from   his   ultimate   goal   of   having   belle.   it   wasn’t   even   a   matter   of   wanting   the   best   anymore   now   it   was   a   matter   of   pride   and   gaston   would   be    DAMNED    if   he   was   going   to   let   his   pride   go   that   easily.

“   you   will   never   be   my   prince            everyone   else   may   have   forgotten   that   you   were   once   a   hideous   beast   but   i   will   die   before   i   bow   to   you.   ”     words   he   would   gladly   eat   if   death   were   an   actual   prospect   but   he   was   brave   when   his   opponent   was   no   longer   an   actual   beast   but   what   appeared   to   be   a   mere   man   in  front   of   him    (  albeit   better   dressed  )    “   as   for   belle   i   know   you   have   her   under   some   kind   of   spell   there   is   no   way   she   could   have  fallen   for   the  likes   of   you   so  quickly   or   at   all   even   now   you   are   a   scrawny   man   who   probably   practices   some   kind   of   dark   magic   to   keep   her   under   your   spell.    she’d   never   be   interested   in  someone   like   you   otherwise.   ”
