My pc Oliver actually like asked to be embraced. He is a doctor and his thought processes was that if he had all the time in the world he could study so many things, watch medicine progress, come up with so much that could help people. Surprise surprise being a vampire sucks, being a Salubri sucks extra, and he’s spent his like 20-30 years as a vampire not really doing much of anything but keeping a back ally clinic afloat cause he’s too paranoid to try and progress. And now he has to live with the fact that his unlife is trash and the only one to blame for that is himself.
Vtm fandom,
Gimme some gutrenching ideas/blurbs about tragedies of some of your embraces- the ocs and kindred that woke up with their life altered forever. Gimme that angst you spin around in your head

here i come encouraging you to use this more: best shelby moment? my faves are
1: “you got a warrant?” and the cops actually leave
2: when Ambrose suggests he be more obedient and threatens him with presence, protean, AND serpentis at the same time and Shelby is just like “eh, so your eyes change color big whoop”
3: Waking up in the hospital with Artyrion and some random woman who INSISTS on touching your forehead
4: We hatch a plan to seduce him but the dice gods decide then and there he’s aroace
5: the first few attempts to ghoul him and it didn’t work
Firstly, of course Lieutenant Lawanda Moore would not barge in without a warrant. Her narrative purpose is to be a foil to the coterie’s chaos. She must embody order, so she must follow the rules to an extent. Shes still a hunter so has some leeway when dispatching supernaturals but would have no reason to bend the rules at all when dealing with what appears to be a human. She’s like a tv show cop not a real one.
Second Shelby being completely immune to all of Ambrose’s powers due to being stubborn and drunk all the time will forever be my favorite thing about them. But I think the dice deciding that he will not be into any of you is a close second.

I have one that I might use for my game (also if my players see this reblog do not go past the cut). Still not sure I’ll ever actually have it come up so I haven’t statted it out yet but I have a design and some notes.
So my main inspirations are a centipede and a monster from the movie 9 called the seamstress. Here is a picture of the monster from the movies wiki. I draw pretty strongly from the monster so not super creative but I just love this creature and want something kinda like it for my game.
Tumblr media
So obviously this is mechanical, how id do it is id have the torso bit be made up of large rib bones with skin stretched over as the canvas. In the movie it can open along the middle seam and keep captured people (well not people cause there are no humans in the movie but you get what I’m saying) in the cavity which is what drew me to using it as inspo. For bonus creepy points you could have it so when a light is shined on the creature, you can see the shape of whoever it’s holding inside (you know cause when light is shined through the stretched skin anything denser will be a shadow. I’d give it some kind of grappling bonus. Plus it could have a way to drink blood from anyone it has grappled.
For the end I don’t really want a snake like body and figured it could have lots of centipede like legs, fleshy for the first segment but a sharp bone for the second so 1.) all the legs can be weapons and 2.) it clicks against the ground ominously when it walks.
The arms in the movie tie up its victims for transport but I think it would be much more interesting is it used them to string someone up like a puppet. The monster usually has a lure on its tail but I don’t think that would be very convincing for players. Instead I think it would be more interesting if, after putting a vampire victim into torpor (and maybe just using a dead human victim) if it would sew thin, almost invisible spider like strands to all the joints and use them kind of like a very creepy puppet. As a way to trick anyone it may be trying to prey on, at least until they get close and see that the persons mouth isn’t moving at all.
So yeah the creepy arms need both tools and hands to effectively puppet their lures. High awareness characters might know something is up and investigate. Low awareness characters could get a really nasty surprise. If you give the creature the ability to walk on walls and ceilings it could puppet from above and then drop down.
Stat wise, I’d have it have lower strength and maybe even stamina than average. Give it a boost for dex and intelligence. And then a specialty in subterfuge for the puppet thing (id have it’s dicepool be intel+ subterfuge for that). I’d run it like an ambush predator instead of like a hulking beast. And it can capture enemies or even food for its master. I think having a szlachta that’s a bit smarter could be fun and might throw players off a bit.
Szlachta Needed
Anyone here has a few szlachta I could borrow, I need more variety to torment my players with.
Anything and everything is good as long as it is both inventive and gruesome! ^_^

Had a bunch of fun with the outfit haul thing so I’ll do one for a Tzimisce oc I have. Their name is Irene. He was around during that funny time where Rome was banning pants (I’m sure it was more complicated than that) and has the living in the past flaw, so he hates them. Refuses them on principle.

I saw a bunch of outfit hauls for vtm ocs. They’re all so pretty which is why I thought it would be funny to do one for Oliver cause he never dresses well. Important note: while the people in these pictures look cool, Oliver is distinctly not. You know how some people are so confident they look good in anything? Yeah, he’s the exact opposite.
Every day

The thing about Oliver is that he’s extremely paranoid. So he doesn’t have pajamas, he wears his day (or night actually) clothes to bed incase of emergency.

as a way of encouraging you to use this blog more, pick a favorite from the out of context discord channel:
1) “i know those guys, i got bloodkake’d by them once” -Ambrose
2) “i could suck this guy to death, but that honestly wouldn’t be worth my time” -Artyrion
3) “Can I roll for animal racism” -Robert
4) “he damaged my hat, that justifies a fury frenzy” -Hoyt
5) “We’re using the rules. Anna, you wouldn’t know about that” -our beloved ST
See the problem is I don’t get notifications for Tumblr though I should probably fix that.
And for the question Artyrion’s quote about sucking someone to death might be my favorite for our entire game. It’ll take a lot to beat that one

I run a game on discord where we all get in a video/audio chat so we can talk that way.
When planning I think back on the last session, remind myself where in general the PCs are heading. Is the big plan to kill an enemy, negotiate, have a difficult conversation? Sometimes I’ll ask the players directly what their plans are, is their anything specific they want to do, conversation they want to have, characters they want to meet up with.
Then I brush up on all the npcs I’ll likely need, get a vibe for them, how they’ll be feeling at the time, what they’re up too, things like that.
Then I might right myself a few blurbs of text to really get in my brain what I want to happen for certain spots. Maybe a complicated description, or a scene between two npcs the PCs will witness, anything I might need to have on hand where I’d be monologuing for a minute or two. I might also speculate on how some conversations might go, once you’ve played with the PCs for long enough you can kinda gauge how they’ll react to some things.
If I’m using a premade chronicle I will go through the blurbs it gives me and make note of important pieces. On and stat blocks make sure to have stat blocks on hand for rolling.
After that I try to leave it a bit open ended, no plan survives contact with the players. They will inevitably do something unexpected (and quite possibly derail the whole session). You just have to be ready to roll with whatever weird things they come up with.
im always curious about this . how do other storytellers plan their sessions, like whats ur process, when do you do it, maybe what do you do after a session or during, etc

I keep completely forgetting to use this app. But not important, what is important is how far my players flew off the rails today.
It all started with just a simple interrogation. It’s going well, the characters are pretty good at this, then our tremere gets a vision. The police are gearing up and are going to be looking for the coterie soon. And I assume it’ll be fine, they have time to get out and hide.
Instead there is a minor argument about killing the guy their interrogating (plus they have to figure out where the dog is going to live if he dies). So I give them a nudge by saying they can hear some sirens.
Three players obfuscate their way out, one runs off into alleyways, and our Tremere decides that the best way to solve this, is to just walk on the side walk and act natural. Keep in mind that the police are looking for the coterie, one of the cops is a hunter, and our Tremere has 3 dots in any social check tops.
So they are being arrested after an terrible roll and the plan to save them is thus; the Malkavian will take off her shirt to distract the police, our Nosferatu will punch the cop and then go back into obfuscate, and somehow this was supposed to give the Tremere enough time to escape.
Through some truly impressive rolls the plan goes well but obviously the cops just turn around and it looks like the tremere punched the person arresting them. However off in the distance our Ministry pc lets off a grenade. So the tremere is brought in with only a few cops and the station is mostly empty since everyone is dealing with the explosion.
The jailbreak actually goes fairly well, the nos is able to get the hunter’s gun and hold her hostage, they use that as leverage to escape with the Tremere.
Now the city is on high alert and they’re all planning to sic the Anarchs of the city, a group of werewolves, and the hunters/cops on each other. We’ll see how that plays out in the end.
To be clear the plan for today was, they were going to interrogate the guy, get the info from him, find out someone ratted on them to the hunters, and follow up on some leads. We flew off the rails and now none of the possible endings for this story from the book work.

Bit nervous for what my next session. The PCs have found the cult, in the middle of a ritual. All of the cultists are there but the coterie is semi-separated and their ghoul is currently no where to be seen. I’m just not sure which way this is going to end up going as a lot of humans and fire might not be the best situation for them.
Players in my game do not read past the cut as there are spoilers
So I’m kinda worried they’re going to cause a huge scene, since that seems to be par for the course with them. I mean, I have contingencies, they have an ally nearby and can also contact their sires in Chicago if things go absolutely awful. But none of the officials are going to be happy with them if suddenly a whole town needs to be cleared of Masquerade issues.
I’m not going to have them die, but one player is trying to get an npc out of trouble with the Prince. And if this goes wrong then they are definitely not going to be able to pull that off.
Just going to have to wait and see if they’re going to be covert about this one.

Funny things said in my Chicago game, “Omg what if we held hands in the cornfield,”
The cornfield is haunted btw, the ground is bloody mud, and they’re looking for a murderous corn cult so that is the context of this quote

So one of my players in my Chicago by night game is going to be gone for a bit which means I’m going to have to put one of those looking for players adds out on discord
I don’t think we’ll function well with only 3 people available in the group so I’m having to find someone sooner rather than later
Not a big deal I’m just needing to move my timetable for things up which can be a bit stressful
I’ve never had to integrate a new player into an already established group so it’ll be interesting

So my players need to not read this, spoilers for future stuff
I’m so excited for this arc and when this arc finishes up.
Last session a pc convinced a Tzimisce npc (Irene, I think I’ve mentioned them on here) to drive along with them on the way to a small town they have to investigate. Once there they rolled really well to get them to hang around the area (like 7 successes) until they’re finished with the investigation.
Problem is Tzimisce have to have their day-sleep near their charge (a person place or thing that is very important to them), Irene’s charge is the garden in the backyard of their haven. So they’re going to be taking aggravated willpower damage the entire trip. We all kinda forgot this durning the time, but I’m not retconning cause I think it will end up being interesting.
Very excited for when everyone goes to head home and encounters a very grumpy Tzimisce who hasn’t been able to have a nap for the past three days. Poor guy is going to be running on fumes. So yeah, the ride home may be a bit awkward but I’ll find it amusing.
