His wedding. William could hardly believe what he was experiencing at that moment. Even though the ceremony was over, the vows had been exchanged, and now the celebration was in full swing, it still felt unreal to him that he was finally married — and more specifically, married to Cerelle Lannister.
Vance played with his wedding ring, turning it around in his finger with his other hand. The only color in his body was in the ring, the blue stone set in the band. In a way, it symbolized that he now belonged to someone — and that someone was Cerelle. The blue reminded him of his now-wife, and of the dress she had worn to the wedding… He would always think of her whenever he looked at the ring. Maybe that was the whole point — to never forget that he was now a committed man.
William picked up his glass of wine and took a sip. That was when he saw the blonde woman approaching him. He was surprised for a moment — the two of them had been avoiding each other throughout the entire celebration, almost as if they were running away from the reality that they would now be sharing their lives.
"Of course, you can have them all," he replied, pushing the plate toward her. "Eat as many as you like. I know you enjoy them..." William had always been observant with the people he cared about — and now, he was especially attentive with Cerelle. He had picked up on certain things about her, one of them being the joy she showed when eating lemon cakes. So, he had set some aside for her, just in case she wanted them.
The compliment from Cerelle truly caught him off guard. Was she being kind out of genuine feeling or just because he’d offered her cake? "Thank you… You look very beautiful too." He said, leaning closer to her ear. "I like seeing your hair down. It looks incredibly attractive."
A mischievous smile appeared on his face as he pulled back slightly, curious to see if he’d provoke any kind of reaction from the blonde.

CERELLE still hadn't touched a single drop of wine, which was very unusual. The delicate fabric of her wedding dress, a pale blue myrrish lace, could easily be stained by the Arbor red wine that was being served at the ceremony. She tilted her head down, staring at the delicate fabric present in the voluminous skirts of her dress. Definitely, Lady Cerelle should avoid staining it. Of course, she could buy another dress like that one. However, her dearest half-sister and the head of her ladymaids, Lynora Hill, was obsessed with perfection. Usually, Lynora would become stressed even if a single golden strand of Cerelle's hair was out of place.
Lady Cerelle's gaze shifted to her hand, stopping at the new ring that adorned her finger. Her wedding ring. The metal was gold, and the design was quite intricate and delicate. There were three little onyx stones decorating each side of the bigger onyx placed at the center of the wedding ring. Black wasn't usually a color she would use, but in some way it represented a sign of commitment.
She let out a small sigh and took a bite of the lemon cake that was on her plate. The eldest Lannister then frowned. She glanced at her plate once again. There was only one remaining lemon cake on her plate when it used to be two. She let out a small sigh and cursed a "fuck" under her breath. Most likely, Lady Jocelyn Lannister, her second youngest sister, had stolen the one lemon cake right under her nose. Certainly, it was in the moment when Jocelyn had come to gossip with Cerelle in the middle of the feast.
Cerelle's mind couldn't fathom how one of the most talkative children of the family had become one of the biggest gossipers the Seven Kingdoms had ever known.
She loved lemon cakes. Lady Cerelle's green eyes wandered to the completely intact lemon cake present on William Vance, her husband's, plate. Cerelle took a deep breath and glanced at William. He was dressed in black, as was usual.
"One of my sisters stole my food," Cerelle commented, clearly unamused. "Can I have one of yours?" Cerelle asked politely as she gestured to one of the lemon cakes on his plate.
Cerelle knew that she probably wouldn't get anything from William from his own free will or the good in his heart. Therefore, she would probably have to stand low.
"You know you look really handsome tonight; I think I finally understand what everyone sees in you," Cerelle mocked gently, keeping her light tone.

Character biography under the cut
Tumblr media
The current lord of House Vance, Triston is 52, and inherited his seat of Wayfarer's Rest at only the tender age of 3. The circumstances of the death of his father were mysterious, and a subject of speculation to this day, claims of accidents, disease, and poisoning still bubbling up from time to time. After his Lord-Father's death, his lady mother, Lady Jyanna Vance, ruled Wayfarer's Rest as a capable, and in time beloved, regent during this youth, unlike most nobles, she ensured that her son and daughters, Kyra and Alyx, receive all the same education. When Triston Vance reached his majority, his first official act as lord was betrothing his sister, Lady Kyra, to her husband, who were a love match since their early teens, all involved well aware that the match was bound to happen regardless of Lord Triston's approval. During his first years as lord, Lord Triston avoided being married, preferring to focus his time instead on ruling Wayfarer's Rest and eventually built a reputation as wise and fair ruler, steadfastly intent on improving the conditions of the people that he ruled. He finally found a match to his liking at 32 with the help His lady mother and Lord Lyonel Strong, though a purely political arrangement at first, he quickly grew fond The Hand’s daughter and the-then Princess Rhaenyra’s longest serving Lady in Waiting, Lady Roslin Strong. The young couple rushed into wedding after only three moons of courtship, though the motives as to why were unclear, only rumors able answer the urge the couple had to rush their union. In total, Lord Triston fathered six children with his lady wife. Three sons, Ser Willam, Denys, and Harwin Vance, and three girls, the ladies Lacey, Jyanna, and Violet. Triston is a notoriously doting father; despite being busy most times, he goes out of his way be there for his children, a trait he shares with his closest friend, Prince Daemon; their companionship mainly being one of proximity due to their wives’ shared past and lifelong dependency, though no less built on mutual interest and respect. Despite largely being known as the most levelheaded of those within the now-Queen Rhaenyra’s inner circle, Triston is also deeply ambitious man, and driven above all else to further his family’s fortunes and secure their legacy.  Suggested faceclaim: Daniel Henney in The Wheel of Time

William took a deep breath, trying to control the anger he felt toward the blonde at that moment. Who did she think she was to treat him that way and, on top of that, come to such a dangerous place alone?
"Then I'll stay with you and take you away." William declared firmly. He couldn’t bear the thought of anything happening to his future wife. Besides, he didn’t trust anyone else to protect Cerelle. If only she had spoken to him beforehand, maybe, with a bit of persuasion, he would have accompanied her to the tavern. "It's too dangerous for you to wander around alone." His gaze reflected genuine concern.
But the situation became even more confusing when Cerelle shifted the focus of the conversation. What did his clothes have to do with what they were discussing? "What's wrong with my clothes? I always dress like this." He glanced quickly at himself, checking if something was out of place or damaged, but everything seemed fine. He had no idea what the Lannister meant by that comment—unless she was just trying to annoy him.
Tumblr media
Cerelle's eyes got wider as she noticed Willam approaching her table, she carefully turned her face so she could look at him. She knew the rumors surrounding her fiancee. "Too careless, too irresponsible, too much off a womanized", was what her little sister Cerenna liked to repeat not in her free time. Even Cerenna at the young age of eleven didn't even know what the other nobles meant. Still it didn't appear to be true, at least from what she was seeing now. It was the Hour of the Wolf, the sun had set a long time ago and he looked sober.
Her slender fingers squeezed the cup of beer harder. She let out a deep breath. She couldn't possibly fantom not even a word of how she could have a reasonable explanation of why a lady of such a good reputation (ignoring the very few rumors that surrounded her) was doing so. She looked at the door, her feet clapping instantly against the wooden floor.
"May you speak lower, please. I don't want to attract too much attention.", Cerelle protested, still keeping her usual level of politeness in her tone. "I just came to fetch something and then I'll go back.", she explained.
"Why are you dressed in such a manner?", Cerelle asked confused.
She then tilted her head, her emerald gaze inspecting his clothes. She took a sip of her beer, squinting her eyes once again.
She genuinely didn't have any ill intent behind her words. Usually, Cerelle was always gentle. Well, it was even more surprising knowing what house she belonged too. However, her words could be interpreted otherwise.

William walked through the castle, passing by the training grounds, when he stopped for a moment. His attention was drawn to a young man practicing with a sword — Viserys Targaryen, the betrothed of his younger sister, Violet.
It was hard for William to accept that his baby sister, the apple of his eye, was already promised, and especially to a Targaryen. He liked the Targaryens — Jacaerys was his best friend, his mother was a lady-in-waiting to the queen, and he had grown up in their company.
But perhaps it was because of that familiarity, knowing all the drama and turmoil within their family, that he wished his own family wouldn’t become so deeply involved. He wanted Violet, at the very least, to have the chance to find love for herself, to meet people other than Viserys. William wished for his sisters to have the same opportunities he had… Or once had, since now even he was promised to Cerelle.
When Viserys noticed his presence, William grabbed a wooden sword and approached the young prince. “Training alone won’t get you very far..” He said, stopping in front of the boy and raising the sword. “After all, if you're going to marry my sister, you need to be a good fighter and know how to protect her.”
In part, William was trying to come to terms with the fact that his sister would, in the distant future, belong to the Targaryens — specifically, to Viserys. So, as an older brother, he felt it was his duty to teach Viserys as much as he could, to help him become the man his sister deserved.

Viserys stood in the center of the empty training yard, He gripped the handle of his wooden sword tightly, his knuckles turning white. Sweat trickled down his forehead as he took a deep breath, preparing himself to begin. With a determined look on his face, the boy lunged forward and swung his sword at the dummy. The tip of the sword glanced off the wood, barely leaving a mark.
Viserys scowled and fell back he swallowed deeply remember what Aemond taught you he thought angrily you have to– you have to be better that this
The boy grunted and adjusted his grip on the sword. He took another step forward and swung again, this time with more force. The sword connected with the dummy's shoulder, causing a loud *THWACK* to echo through the yard.
The boy paused for a moment, satisfied with the impact. He shook out his shoulders and reset his stance, ready to continue his practice.
Suddenly he stopped mid-swing, his ears pricking up at the sound of something moving behind him. Viserys turned slowly, wooden sword held out in front of him, ready to defend himself.
Standing a few feet away from him was Willam Vance, He leaned against the wall, folding his arms across his chest.

Was William happy with the direction his life was heading? Not at all.
He often thought about ways to escape the situation, but he knew that if he broke off the engagement with Cerelle Lannister, his honor would be called into question. He didn’t want anyone else to suffer the consequences of his actions, so he sought a solution where no one would get hurt — or at least, if someone had to, it would be him.
Because, deep down, William didn’t care much about what others thought. If he did, he wouldn’t have made the choices that led him to this dead end.
Already dressed, ready for another day where he had to show responsibility, William wanted to prove to his parents that he didn’t need to marry to show he could be serious.
He was interrupted by a knock at the door. Who wanted to talk to him at that hour? When he saw it was his younger sister, he sighed. It seemed the women in his house enjoyed talking to him at the most inconvenient times.
Though William loved his sister, and no one could deny that — he would die for his siblings, always striving to make their lives easier and more peaceful — on that day, stress and anxiety overwhelmed him. He wasn’t in the mood for a conversation.
Leaning against the table, arms crossed, he waited for her to speak. His mood, already sour, worsened when he realized she had come merely as a messenger.
Taking a deep breath, William tried to control his anger, ensuring it wasn’t directed at Lacey. "Of course… What does our mother want?" he asked, forcing a weak smile in an attempt to soften the negative feelings that consumed him.
Love in the Air

Lacey paced her chambers feeling frustrated. She was thinking over her mother’s words as she walked back and forth. She wondered if she would wear a path into the stone from the fervent pace she was setting. Her mother had informed her that William was to be wed. And to the lady Cerelle Lannister no less. Lacey liked Cerelle well enough, the lady was somewhat reserved at times but she had a wonderful sense of fashion that Lacey admired. Her mother had insisted that since they were both ladies in waiting for Princess Rhaena, it was appropriate that Lacey be a bit of an in-between messenger for the pair. She was not thrilled about the prospect but only because she did not expect her brother to listen to her. He never had before, why should he start now? Matters of the heart are not put aside that easily for duty, even if her mother wanted to pretend it was for the best.
“Ugh!” Lacey drove the palms of her hands into her eyes, rubbing them swiftly before fixing her hair. There was nothing to be done about it, but to do it. So she set out to find her brother. It was still early afternoon so she was hopeful he was still in his chambers, likely still asleep. She rolled her eyes at the thought. If she tried to sleep until early afternoon her mother would fall to pieces. But there was no sense in running over that lamentful thought anymore than she already had. Instead she tried to think of what she would say to her brother. She came up empty, what did her mother want from her exactly? Hello brother, I know I got to choose who I marry and it happened to be the love of my life. But well, you don’t get that choice because you spent your youth partying instead of being responsible? Somehow she did not think that would go over well at all.
Rounding the last corner she stood in front of her brother's door. She took a deep breath and steeled herself before she knocked. She did not expect an answer but was pleasantly surprised when the door swung open to admit her. Upon entering she was even more surprised to find her brother awake, alert and dressed. He leaned against the table in the room as she entered.
“Hello brother, you look well.” She gazed about his room, noting the bed was made. He’d been up for some time then. She let her eyes flit over the room until she made her way back to her brother.
“What do you want?”
She grimaced at his blunt question. So they were skipping the niceties were they?
“Mother asked me to talk to you.” She admitted giving up all pretense of having come here of her own free will. She waited anxiously, twisting the fabric of her dress as she waited for him to respond.

Before his married life truly began, William decided to enjoy a bit more of his freedom, but without excess. A good example of this was that, even after hours in that place, he was completely sober, having only consumed one beer.
His friends at the tavern had been teasing him for over ten minutes, joking about how different he seemed. They mentioned the rumors that now, since he was going to be a father, he had to be more responsible. Fortunately, they were just rumors, but the truth was that William was worried, thinking about the future.
So worried, in fact, that he thought he was imagining seeing her in front of him. But when he looked again, he realized it wasn’t an illusion—it was truly his fiancée.
This was not the kind of place for a lady like her, especially that tavern, known for being so dangerous that even his friends didn’t know how to find him there.
William quickly stood up and approached her. "Cerelle…" he called as he neared. "What are you doing here? Did you come alone? This place is far too dangerous for you." His tone was full of concern, and his expression showed that he meant it. He didn’t want her there—not out of shame or anger, but because he didn't want to see her get hurt.

Six moons have passed
William Vance's life had undergone a significant change over the past six moons.
At first, everything seemed calm. William was still living his party lifestyle with full force, avoiding responsibilities and preferring to sleep long hours during the day, only to go out drinking late into the night.
The disapproving looks from other nobles, and even some servants, only increased as they watched William returning home at dawn, just as the castle was beginning to wake up for a new day, while he was on his way to bed.
That night, William threw his clothes on the floor, preparing to sleep. Lying in his bed, exhaustion was already dragging him into a deep sleep when the bedroom door abruptly opened without warning.
“What—” William quickly pulled the sheets up to cover his naked body. He heard quick, determined footsteps, and soon the heavy curtains of his room were drawn open. Only then did he realize that it was his mother who had entered. “Mother! You can’t just barge in like this!” he protested, visibly irritated. She could have knocked and waited for him to open the door instead of making such a scene.
“Don’t tell me what I can or can’t do! I am your mother,” Roslin responded sharply. Her tone made William tense up; he knew that something serious was coming whenever she spoke that way.
Trying to avoid a confrontation, he sat up in bed, worried. His first thought was that something had happened to his siblings or father. “Mother, did something happen?”
“It did.” She replied, sitting in the large armchair facing his bed. “Your behavior has been a disgrace to our house… Parties, drinking, coming home at dawn and sleeping all day. Not to mention the rumors that you’re involved with various noblewomen.”
“That’s not true…” William tried to defend himself, but his mother interrupted him sharply. “It doesn’t matter. It’s time for you to take on your responsibilities. Your time for fun is over… Your father and I have discussed this, and we have arranged a marriage.”
“Wait, what?” he exclaimed, shocked.
“Cerelle Lannister. We hope that marriage will make you mature and see reality.” Without giving William a chance to respond, his mother stood up and left the room, closing the door firmly behind her.
William was stunned, unable to believe what he had just heard. An arranged marriage? His mother’s words were harsh and cold. Had his life reached such a point that only drastic measures like this could wake him up?
The irony was that his mother had not been an ideal example, having lived a rebellious youth herself. And now, she was demanding that he take responsibility. If even she, after living her own freedom, believed it was time for him to grow up, did that mean his situation was really that bad?
Over the following days, William locked himself away, reflecting on his future and the path he should take. Perhaps it was time to accept his responsibilities, but marriage? He longed to marry for love, to be with someone he chose himself.

Welcome,Ser William Vance of House Vance! We’re delighted to see they have arrived safely on their journey to King’s Landing. Around the court, the twenty-one has been praised as funny, astute and confident, but some have whispered they are also partygoer, irresponsible and stubborn. Upon their arrival, it is clear that they are excited about the upcoming coronation of Westeros’ first ruling queen, and while the eyes of our court may be fixed on our new Queen, House Targaryen, and the future of Westeros, their true allegiance will always be to the House Vance.
Since birth, William had been a true blessing to the family. As the firstborn and a boy, he was destined to inherit the name and legacy of the Vance house. His smile was infectious, and from a young age, he showed himself to be an exceptionally healthy and strong child, constantly bringing joy to everyone around him.
As he grew, William proved to be the ideal heir. Intelligent and dedicated, he excelled in all areas of study, while also mastering physical skills such as horseback riding and swordsmanship. He strove to be the pride of his family, aiming for the perfection that his role as heir demanded. However, this relentless pursuit placed a tremendous burden on his shoulders.
Upon reaching adulthood, William felt it was time to live for himself and enjoy his freedom while he still could. He began attending parties, drinking excessively, and engaging in relationships with women of lower social standing. It didn’t take long for word to spread throughout the kingdom, turning the once-perfect heir into a source of shame for the Vance family.
Despite the criticism and the damage to his reputation, William chose to ignore the rumors. Even when he was forced to seek a bride and start a family, he continued his life of parties and indulgence. For William, there was still time before he needed to step into the responsibilities awaiting him as the heir.
RUMORS
A persistent rumor spreads that William fathered a child with one of the lower-class women he was involved with. And he hide away the child to not bring the scandal to the house (FALSE)
Whispered in noble circles, there’s speculation that William has made secret deals with underground criminal organizations to fund his lavish lifestyle. Some claim he’s indebted to dangerous people, putting the entire Vance house at risk if the debts aren’t repaid. (FALSE)
There are whispers that a young nobleman, once a potential rival for William's inheritance, mysteriously vanished after a public altercation with him. Some suggest that William had a hand in his disappearance, though no evidence has ever surfaced, leaving the truth shrouded in suspicion. (FALSE)
