it’s not disbelief on his face, not exactly, but it’s dancing close to that. surprise, maybe, weariness is probably the closest to accurate. not of her, really, but of the words. he’s heard those words so many times, has said them himself only to press a blaster into someone’s back and fire. “i guess we must’ve earned each other’s trust by now.” at least he liked to hope so, even if he wasn’t sure he knew what it was to really trust someone besides kaytoo.

cassian does go into a bacta tank after scarif because of the wounds he took when he fell and other assorted moments and he has some burns on his face from the escape but the wound on his ribs never Really heals he feels it for the best of his life and there’s burn scars on the side of his neck down his shoulder

“stop.” it comes out soft, a little bit weary, and a lot pained but he forces it out after a long moment where he could no longer come up with satisfactory answers to luke’s questions. “please.” tacked on at the end to lessen the blow of his rebuff. cassian’ tries to sit still, finds the need to run a hand through his hair stronger than his usually ironclad self control, so he does, leans back in his seat and looks away.

      HE MAY NOT have been in touch with his emotions like the other but he understood when Vax was trying to push him away.  But the half elf had never anticipated just how stubborn the cleric could be.  Arms crossed over his chest as his eyes narrowed into a glare.  “ Fuck you too, asshole. ”  He wouldn’t let the other slip into a pity party when there was no need for it.  “ There’s a whole bunch of assholes out there that count on you.  Don’t do this.  Don’t close yourself off from them. ”  Kashaw could understand if he pushed Kash aside,  he was fine with it.  He knew how to be alone but the others,  they needed Vax.

He doesn’t know how to talk about this, about the sound of feathers in his ears or the way he swallows blood just to talk to his patron. So he lashes out. So he isolates himself. So he does all the things he knows he shouldn’t, all the bad habits he’d been so close to unlearning, all the pain he’d been so close to overcoming and it all feels like it’s returned. He scoffs at that. “They’ll be just fine, they have each other.” He turns away from the cleric, needing to hide his face for a moment. “And you don’t count yourself as needing me?” Maybe that’s a selfish thing to ask but he’s feeling selfish.
