the most rational extrapolation one can make about ferengi society is that it's probably massively homophobic/transphobic, as these follow logically from the sort of patriarchal structure that ferengis are shown to have. but i think the fact that quark paints his nails obscures this for those who don't like extrapolating.

(it's also true that quark doesn't voice anything homophobic in “rejoined” and we never see homophobia in the show. but to accuse the trek writers of having an even mildly sophisticated approach to interrogations of gender would be silly.)
