How to be part of DO NOT STACK

Purchase the physical toolkit (publication, stickers, access to digital resources.

Design and construct an exhibition space using cardboard boxes — the world is your oyster! When designing a DO NOT STACK space, you have complete creative control over the environment you create to exhibit your work/the exhibition you curate. Consider it as a radical transformation of your work — or a creative challenge. The only limit is the material used to design this space (cardboard boxes). Pay close attention to this material - its opportunities (ease of construction, accessibility, affordability) and limitations (small dimensions, cardboard colour/texture).

Head over to the DO NOT STACK website (here) and follow the instructions under ‘Submit Work’ (here). You will need to photograph each side of your exhibition space (front, side, back, side —and, if applicable, top) and supply images of the works included. 

Your photos of your exhibition space will be rendered into a simple 3D render. This render will then be hosted on the DO NOT STACK website (e.g here)

Blender Outcomes

Texturing, animating and rendering a series of cardboard boxes for display on the website.

This work will be present on the landing page as a rotating model. Two other 3D forms will be constructed as examples of simple Do Not Stack exhibition forms (black and white placeholder imagery/text).

The website will just be a homepage with various links - including to the presentation of the project/Tumblr/Adobe XD mock up of the full site (if time).

Interesting Mistakes To Note

Overlapping illustrations - I would like to incorporate this into the design through the use of tracing paper

Wireframe outlines of the my illustrations that were generated when my RAM became full

The red dot - like a ‘sold’ sticker in a gallery - adds a very Ellen-like touch to the design
