Yet another headcanon drop

~~it's interesting how many new ideas I've been having for Pen-Pen while playing SAO: Fatal Bullet~~

Pen-Pen had her own set of rules when it came to dealing with a player with an orange icon, which are mostly the same as the rules by the Red Hunters guild.

First, she'd always try to investigate the orange player's history. Whether their icon turned orange from assaulting a player, or from killing a player. If it was murder, then came how many times it's happened.

If just once, she left them alone, or gave a stern warning at most. Their icon was now permanently orange, they couldn't enter towns. They were already served their punishment.

But if it was multiple times, then she took their lives.

Once floor 35 was unlocked in New Aincrad, Pen-Pen made a grave marker for Adam. This marker was a replica of the katana he used, stabbed into the ground, and a note that read "In memory of Adam "Lorian" Pensworth. One of the nearly 4000 who lost their lives in SAO."

Possible headcanons

~~I say possible (marked with an *) because I'm still toying with some of the ideas, but do want to share.~~

1) Pen's username is the nickname Adam gave to her. She was so excited to finally get into SAO that she just used Pen-Pen as a placeholder, and if she knew she'd have to go by that name for 2 years straight she'd have chosen something else.

2*) Adam's username was Lorian.

3) the person who introduced Pen to being a PKK was Keiko, and was Pen's first (and maybe only) girlfriend inside the game.

4) Depending on the verse depends on Pen's future with VRMMO. But in both cases, she does eventually return to VRMMOs simply because she grew so used to feeling normal in SAO.

-4A) for the anime route, her return to VRMMO is rather quick, and her avatar in ALO is a Spriggen, and she misses the rush of combat.

-4B) for the video game route, she saw enough death and fighting by floor 100, and is reluctant to return, as that extra bit of time is enough to push her over the edge. She is terrified of the full dive for a long amount of time. But eventually, when she felt she was ready, she did join ALO as an Undine. She felt she did enough PvP and just wants to do support.

5*) When she joins GGO her build is AGI/STR, and has a photon sword (random enemy drop) as a secondary weapon. She also gives other players the chance not to engage in PvP and will only retaliate in self-defense.

6) She still has her NerveGear, but some of its components, like it's power supply, have been ripped out.

7) She's fallen asleep inside her VR games. Multiple times.

8) just like how most SAO characters were the same colors in different games (looking at you Kirito and your emo black wardrobe), Pen almost always tries to get her outfits recolored to light blue.

Pen-pen was once part of a guild after becoming a pkk.

The guild, currently called "Red Hunters" until I come up with something better, was formed by a group of players who were all sick of the murderous red players.

The guild kept tabs on both red players and red guilds, and when sufficient information was gathered, the guild would message certain members about the mission.

The guild was co-led by a pair of brothers, but when the elder brother was killed in an ambush, the younger brother took sole leadership. And some time after that, the guild kept seeming to get shadier and shadier.

Rumors circulated amongst the members about some members harassing other players, and even that some were taking bribes from red players to be left unchecked. And strangely enough, when evidence of a member performing one of these tasks was presented to the guild leader, that member would soon go on a mission and be ambushed by red players.

At first, the guild leader tried claiming that there was a spy in the guild, and he would personally figure out who and take care of them. But as time went on, and some of the best pkks getting taken out, it only took the situation repeating itself again for a new rumor to spread in the guild about the leader himself.

That the leader was the spy.

A few guild members took it upon themselves to investigate the guild leader, only to discover that it was true, that he was working with a red guild. A not so well known red guild called Wolf’s Tear, who’s main tactic is to inflict their victims with a blindness debuff. 

The guild members who took the job of a pkk very serious, including Pen-Pen, confronted the leader about it. When they showed they had proof, he didn’t hesitate to deny it.

They were furious, and wanted nothing more than to stop him, but thanks to his status as a green player, not much could be done, in fear of permanently becoming red players themselves.

That was until one member, Keiko, killed the leader anyway.

After that, the guild disbanded. Some members still keep in touch, sharing information on red players, but the rest went their separate ways.

Keiko was never heard from after that, and vanished from everyone’s friend list. It is believed that Keiko’s life had ended.

Small headcanon drop

After being in a car accident when she was 10 that killed her mother, Penelope was left paralyzed from the waist down. This was also the reason that the Full Dive System for SAO brought her to buy the game. After trying the Beta that her older brother Adam received, Penelope was thrilled to have the ability to walk again. She even spent all her time in the Beta, and even most of the first day of the launch, without any foot equipment equipped, simply enjoying the feeling of the grass between her toes.

The User name Pen-Pen is a play on her real name, Penelope Pensworth, and was mostly the nickname her brother called her, although he’d either call her Pen or Penny most of the time.

Brief Notes on Past: Penelope (Who’s nickname from her brother was Pen) was one of the many players trapped inside SAO, along with her older brother Adam, who was a beta tester. 8 months into the game, Adam and Pen were led astray by a green player who was working with a bunch of orange players. Adam managed to distract them long enough to allow Pen to get away. Adam didn’t make it.

Later, and after constant grinding, Pen took it upon herself to try and rid SAO of orange players by becoming a PKK (Player Killer Killer)

Orange players beware, the wandering PKK, Pen-Pen.

Other tidbits: Penelope is the middle child. Her older brother is Adam, and younger half-sister (who never had a huge interest in video games) is Circé.

Adam being a beta tester was what got Penelope interested in SAO.
