“The roots of all living things are tied together. Deep in the ground of being, they tangle and embrace. If we look deeply, we find that we do not have a separate self-identity, a self that does not include sun and wind, earth and water, creatures and plants, and one another.”

we traveled together but only I was moved
flowing through and into experience
drinking in the no-you no-me endless world
we were the rhythm in the song
moving or staying still it’s all the same
there’s always something that needs to be washed
spin out or wind in and it’s the same again
we are black holes giving birth to new worlds
and we plunge fingers into warm water
pull out a bowl and wipe it clean
my heart thumping your hand reaching a tide turning
a mop splattering grey waves on the shore
waltzing to pulses of sound in the air we breath
I rotated around your axis lost in the beat
of mornings and wide roads and nights
in strange towns and eat and wash dishes and sleep
and you were there too I’m sure of it
life gets you like that sometimes
one minute I’m buying groceries
the next contemplating my place in the universe
thinking about infinity on the inside
while my outsides catch the number six bus
and sometimes I’ll look out of a dirty window
at the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen
and sometimes the dance I perform
to avoid stepping in a pile of dog shit on the path
will bring a smile to the face of a stranger and this
this is something worth seeing

The older you get, the more you choose calm over chaos and distance over disrespect. Drama becomes intolerable to you and your peace becomes your ultimate priority. You start surrounding yourself with people who are good for your mental health, heart and soul.

“In my opinion, the best thing you can do is to find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you … That’s the kind of person that’s worth sticking with.”
