Hi guys. so i drew this like two months ago and forgot to post it sorry Valdangelo Fans

it’s also the way annabeth and rachel immediately became good friends after percy and annabeth got together because literally the only thing in the way was annabeth’s understandably hurt feelings that she channeled into aggression. rachel could have held a grudge about that forever but she never did at any point. through the entire arc rachel fully understood and accepted that annabeth had shit going on that was not her problem and once it was over she was perfectly happy to be friends. that is pretty incredible but so interesting and compelling for rachel’s character

and if you’ll allow me to speculate from there, i feel it makes so much sense for her as a kid who was unseen and neglected by parents who projected their hopes on her relentlessly even though they were at odds with the daughter they had. rachel is used to being held responsible for a version of herself that isn’t anything like her. and it isn’t in her nature to get hot-headed or mad. for all the fanon characterization of annabeth is like, calculating and strategic, annabeth is the one who acted on emotion and fought against rachel regardless of whether it made sense, and rachel is the one who calmly assessed the situation and was like, all right, i know exactly why this girl hates me and it is not my fault. carrying on
