I drew this 22 years ago for an article about the "Oscar Curse" - actors who win Oscars but then can't seem to find future work. It seems this phenomenon has weighed on Brody. His win last night had to be cathartic, but his long-rambling speech was cringe-inducing as it showed so little regard for everyone else in the room. What a thing to contend with those levels of fame.

2/2 Happy Phil Collins Day! Back in 2022, I was asked to create a poster for Genesis, then on their final (?) tour, based on their video "Land of Confusion." That video, with it's political statements, had made a big impression on me and so I was thrilled to create this update/homage. All three band members had to sign off on the design and unfortunately one declined (say it wasn't you, Phil!!), so the poster was never produced. Talked with a friend who is a University researcher, whose mood was grave. Threatened funding cancellations would decimate their programs and how they operate.

This image was the final slide during my speech at my alma mater, St. Olaf College, last November, after an exhibition of mine was censored at Purdue University. I ended my speech with a call to action to resist any pressure from the government to change how their professors teach or how their students learn.

I realize not everyone votes based on facts and truth. But you have to wonder how many Trump voters might have voted differently if they had been fully informed.

An uneducated population is an easily manipulated population. They are coming after education.

A Gentle Reminder for Black History Month and Superbowl Sunday: Colin Kaepernick took a knee for social justice and the NFL blackballed him for life. Now the NFL is taking a knee for Trump, erasing their message of "End Racism" from the Superbowl field.
