Bentley, a Warrior of Childhood Cancer, in Buffalo, New York, who taught the world bravery, fearlessness, a gentle love between mother and child, a unstoppable bond between brothers, and a family who stops at nothing to reveal the dark truth and intense light behind cancer. I saw photos of him sleeping, playing, hanging out with his brother, videos of him being a kid. I also saw a photo of him after he passed, but I refuse to remember it. His death devastated me to the point I didn't paint for weeks, I didn't want to experience ths pain ever again. So, I stopped the project. Then, Joe came to me and explained that what I'm doing matters, and said it's too important to stop. Then, the gift only by celebrating Bentley would we have, that Joe would volunteer to help with painting, starting with Skylar, then Monica, then Beth, and to the ultimate thank you that words Don't exist for ; the painting for Bentley's mother Krystal, and Clayton, his brother. We give this gift, United with the donations and efforts of the entire family in the Warpaint Project Community. Thank you for showing us Warrior Art can matter, that it IS important to continue. Because a painting made, just for you, means you're royalty, so be it, Sir Clayton, brother of Bentley, Warrior Guardian Angel of the Warpaint Project, a child who misses his brother every day and is a Warrior too. He hope he lives the remainder of his life knowing the moon and star he refers to as his brother, brings him peace. This painting of a galaxy, moon, and star were made by @pourhousejoe my sweet husband. Whose talent was discovered only after a longing to learn how to paint, inspired by, of all people, Bentley. As the story goes, three Warriors passed, one after another in late November, my sadness inconsolable. Joe would ask what he could do to help, and asked if he could help paint and make Bentley's painting of the Giraffes. Behind this Paintkng is another, the painting for Bentley, accepted by his mom. Thank you so much for allowing us to share this story which we wouldn't have been able to experience without honoring Bentley through our project. It's in his legacy we continue this project, together; a gift we open every single day. I painted for no one tonight, painted to paint, for the first time in over a year. I let my mind go, I didn't think about the reaction someone may have when opening their gift, or worry if I did enough. I didn't think about her pain, or what their life will be like a year from now, I painted, and thought of nothing at all. Truthfully, I think it's a little sad. The leaves that have any color are falling away. I don't know what it means, I don't think it has to mean, or identify anything, it's just a passing thought and mood in an artists heart. I love how paint can transform a moment, how it can bring a blank canvas a name., I am so grateful to have anyone care about what comes out of this heart of mine and this studio of ours. Wind; a thief of leaves, and feathers, creator of waves and the need to run inside. Of umbrellas turned inside out and memorable hair... The maker of tornados and mist. Maybe I need an adventure, I met a woman on a bus when I was 19 who was on her way to a native American ritual of finding their feather. A hike into the woods, alone, in touch with their spirit guides and spirit animal. It was over when a single feather was found, their purpose found in that discovery. To find my feather... Guardian Angel Allivea, passed in January. This gift memorializes a child who loved motorcycles, cheerleading, and here is seen riding into Rochester, who lit the sky purple and gold, in her honor.
