Problem #1 regarding child abuse is that a lot of people seem to struggle to imagine normal, respectable-looking parents and other authority figures ever doing it despite the statistics so instead they do the stranger danger panic and completely overlook some of the greatest threats.
Problem #2 is that even when people understand, even if in an abstract way, that parents can be abusive they just... don't seem to actually register that as something that can apply to real life. It's just hypothetical to them and doesn't actually guide their ideas of how to prevent child abuse.
Problem #3 is that even after overcoming the above biases a lot of people have a very narrow image of what abusive parenting is where they imagine like... people doing violent things basically out of sadism and without provocation. They don't seem to think it's "real" abuse if the victim did something that "justifies" punitive violence, like disobeying the parents.
In fact, most people think parents have a right to do a whole lot of awful things to their children beyond just hitting them, like violating their privacy, controlling their access to information, and deciding what/when/if they eat, among other things.

Are they ‘trauma dumping’ or are they just discussing their life experience and you are such an asshole that you can’t stand to be confronted with information that makes you uncomfortable for 0.005 seconds???

Hello, everyone.

I don't like guilt tripping people but a baby’s life depends on this. I am in tears. I wouldn't do this if it wasn't a life or death situation. @life-111 is my friend. He is in Gaza with his family. His baby has cancer and needs $1,950 for an operation TODAY. It's possible to achieve this. Together we can do it. Please, I beg of you, don't just reblog. Donate, whatever you can.
https://paypal.me/ofkt637
If you're gonna donate, please don't mention Ahmed Hammad in the paypal message. PayPal is racially profiling and it is retaining all money that accompanies that name.
His fundraiser is vetted by @90-ghost , @gazavetters (#576) , and @bilal-salah0. Gofundme takes too long, you can dm @life-111 if you want to confirm that paypal goes to them. Please help.

i always forget that the vast majority of people on here don't know that hinduism is a uniquely oppressive religion and view it vaguely like some exotic and beautiful brown people spirituality.
no other religion unpersons such a vast swathe of purported adherents textually, maintains practices that make them objects of ritual abjection that are excluded from society thru untouchability, exploits their labour thru customary labour obligations and restrictions on land ownership that increase their material subjection and attempts to deny them even understanding of their own position and the right to organise by making literacy itself an upper caste privilege. and this is all before the hindu fascists even burned down the first mosque and started pogroms and initiatied the process of stripping muslims from citizenship. just because hinduism doesn't have global hegemony never meant that stopped it from violently exercising its hegemony on the subcontinent.

I get the frustration with people always saying like "the problem with transphobia is that it ends up harming cis women too!" (phrasing it that way isn't great), but it is like objectively better to have people side with you for selfish reasons than it is to have them not side with you at all.
Showing people that they share a common interest with other marginalized groups seems like just a pretty normal way of soliciting solidarity.
And I'd honestly rather have cis women see themselves as having common interests with trans people (being aligned with trans people in a shared struggle) rather than to have them just benevolently supporting hashtag trans rights out of some sense of moral obligation or guilt (that kind of support sounds fleeting).

Ladies this isn't true I am an endless dispenser of money kink and sex for anyone who wants to enjoy. Put aside the vagina OP has for a second and the incel rhetoric becomes clear.
not now sweetie, mom’s getting really annoyed by the way some so-called “femmes” on here treat and talk about butches like we’re only here to serve them as kink, sex, money and physical labor dispensers.
we’re people too, with feelings and wants and needs. we need protection, we need nurturing, we need the humanity so many others fail to grant us. we turn to femmes for that humanity when the world takes it from us.
you’re not protecting us when you’re asking us to throw our personhood away. you’re not protecting us when you project an unrealistic idealized version of butchness (read: sanitized masculinity) onto us of some short-cropped, perfectly muscular and suave persona with a bottomless wallet. you’re not protecting us when you ask us to go against the very morals that form the makeup of our identity.
don’t forget the dynamic goes both ways.

I may be too chronically online, but there has not been more likely allies in the past 30 years.
I'd say tech bro and trad wife are the most prominent conservative architypes for anyone under the age of 45.

its been said a thousand times before but the fundamental premise that men need to feminize themselves in order to get away with abusing women is quite possibly the most laughably ignorant idea ever ascribed to feminism. as though society wasn't built around manhood being the role that gives you access to the bodies of women.
