One year later ..I dropped this au...my answer. Finally

All in jest of course, and you're all completely correct. It's absolutely ableism and Sad Angst Points on The Erin's part, Deadfoot is proof of that. Both in the ability of a cat with limited mobility in a leg moving, and his name. Seriously, who approved that...Anyway he's deputy of the clan who runs to hunt. Cinderpelt surely could've stalked.

Back on the grind. I need a bit of help with disability rep in my AU, and I thought it'd be best to see if I could reach disabled warriors fans for help? I'm both able-bodied and neurotypical so I could fuck up, but I don't want to.

Short gist: Princess also comes to the clans, becomes a healer in ThunderClan. Because of the time it takes to train as a medicine cat, and her being a warrior for the first half of the book, she's still an apprentice by Fire and Ice. Y'know...when Cinderpaw gets hit by a car. So...I've soft locked Cinderpaw out've healing duties. I've thought of two options.

-One, she gets to be a warrior, though she has some difficulty, mainly with hunting. I believe her leg is described as being dragged in the series? So, stalking is hard because her leg would be brushing on undergrowth constantly. I've thought maybe she could learn other ways to hunt, like chasing prey into the paws of a hunting partner.

Deadfoot is deputy of, basically, RunningClan, so- it doesn't feel to outta left field? But, their disabilities are different (front foot vs back leg) and territories and hunting styles even more (moors vs forest, chasing vs stalking). She could still patrol and maybe fight, though.

-Second option. I split the medicine cat duties in this au. Healers take over all the healing stuff. Divines take over all the spiritual stuff. So she could be a divine, except...connection to StarClan and stuff is more rare(?) in this au, it's can't be taught like in the series. If she was showing connections to the great leaders (religious figures in the au) before the accident, she would've been training as a divine anyway. And if she was showing it after that...well that feels weird right? Suffer a traumatic injury, you can suddenly meet god?

Other things are...the fact Cinderpelt was reincarnated as Cinderheart suggests she was never happy so is giving her the same story a good idea anyway? And maybe I could do something to help keep her leg up, so she can hunt easier? Like, Yellowfang can wrap a vine around her leg and back. I dunno, I just need some help with Cinderpelt not being a healer, without being ableist by accident.

man i really wish that when a cat dies in warriors, the authors really took time to accentuate the mourning that their clanmates experience. i mean, these cats do everything together, live in the same dens, have kin alike, and when a cat dies i feel like everybody’s shocked or sad for a little while and then moves on and goes back to normal the next day. i want to see cats visiting graves, cats taking time off, cats talking about their feelings emotionally and not just politically…doing something, anything to commemorate the life of the loved one they’ve lost, not just sitting vigil and then going on patrol like nothing happened the next day.

remember in tnp when shadowclan attacked  thunderclan and brambleclaw yelled at leafpool and told her it was her fault (because he thought that because leafpool had the audacity to inform littlecloud about his friend cinderpelt’s passing he might have passed that info along to russetfur, giving away thunderclan’s weakened state) only to later find out that it was hawkfrost who told shadowclan about the badgers, who learned it from brambleclaw during a tigerstar training sesh, and this doesn’t lead to any repercussions or internal development other than him lamenting “oh now i can’t apologize to leafpool because then she’ll no i did a bad thing :(”

I wish sharing tongues had been kept around, it's such a nice concept... a community unwinding by keeping each other healthy and clean while gossiping... gives them a slight more to do then hunt/patrol/protect/talk/story important stuff... could be used angst wise like Whitestorm sharing tongues with a spiraling Bluestar unable to get her pelt just as clean as it was before...wasted opportunity ugh

UHHH if u want to/have time could you share some design tips??? i feel like all of my designs are boring 😭😭😭 -blue <3

-the colours dont need to be entirely natural (green-ish grey, bright blue, dark red) - curve your patterns with the way the body works - more important characters should have more detailed designs, less imporant characters can have less detailed designs - keep lineart simple and readable , detail the pelt patterns - the eyebrows, eyes and the pose are the main thing that convey the personality of the cat (im serious) - try not to use pure black, white or grey unless you REAAAALLLY want to - mess around with different body & face shapes. try not to make everyone look the same - simplify the ears, mouth, paw pad and scar colour by using the same one for all - try to not make your ear/scar/paw pad/mouth colour similar to the colour of your cat. the colour i pick for those part can range from dark purple-y pink to light orange - balance the size of the head to the body. if the body is too small its gonna look REAL funny. - once again, balance the size of the legs to the size of the body. if your cats legs are too small it wont be good - try to make families look similar but NOT identical. use colours from the parents, make the fur type similar, etc etc, but still try to make the cat look unique. also reference BOTH parents if they have them - be creative and don't limit yourself to realistic pelt patterns. don't research every single type of tabby and spend 9 years tryna make it exactly how it looks irl, have fun and draw it how YOU think a tabby looks like - be creative with eye colours not all cats need amber eyes ERINS!!! - overexaggerate facial features TRUST ME IT HELPS and thats all i got! hope it kinda helps maybe?
