BRAND WITH INTERESTING CONCEPT - WARDROBE.NYC
Tumblr media
Definitely, normcore or even athleisure is more than a simply trend. It will stay with us for some more time.
The reasons are that, firstly it’s comfortable, the other one is simplicity in choosing clothing - you don’t have to waste your energy on “what I should wear today?!”. The answer is - Wardrobe.NYC - a brand with interesting selling concept from designer Josh Goot and stylist and consultant Christine Centenera. The idea is quite simple: Several times a year this duo drops a collection of luxury-grade items consisting of five to 10 pieces that work together around a central theme. Shoppers buy the line as a package - no choosing colors or different styles, just tick off your size, and days later a Wardrobe.NYC box arrives at your door. Since their debut in 2017, they offered women’s and men’s takes on tailoring, with shirting, suiting, and the layering pieces to make it all your own.
Tumblr media
Brand owners defines Wardrobe.NYC as “ a radical new alternative to the fashion system, inspired by the consciousness of the day and creation of  the ultimate wardrobes for those with shared values and aesthetic”. All the pieces are designed in NYC and made in Italy besides that are crafted with the finest materials and the best manufacturing practices. This duo is aiming to elevate the experience of everyday dressing, and to pioneer a new and democratic luxury.
Tumblr media
A few months ago they released first sport capsule collection. Below are outcomes !
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Founders:  Josh Goot and Christine Centenera
I presume that this kind of approach to everyday garments and essentials in a luxury way is just starting to be popular.

The coolest concept store in Seoul acclaimed by Vogue and few other magazines. I agree 100%. What Dami Kwon (G-Dragon sister) and Jessica Jung done is incredible - they have a range of brands that are hard to find in Korea such as: ANOUKI, KOCHÉ,  MARINE SERRE. Especially you have to remember that Koreans love European long established brands such as Chanel, Dior or Burberry. This two friends are in fact changing the way Korean girls approach fashion. Rare Market become a major fashion address in Seoul, Dami has shown that she knows all about the latest trends and also isn’t afraid to invent her own.

On a side note Dami is a sister of G- Dragon - South Korea’s superstar which undeniably helped attract attention of customers. Actually, the first word of the boutique - Rare - was implied by him (G-Dragon).
Besides that, in 2016 the duo launched their own brand - We11Done, in which first lookbook appeared Leandra Medine. Brand went global immediately and is available at numerous luxuries boutiques worldwide and of course at Rare Market.

KOREAN STREETWEAR BRANDS TO KNOW
Here is my subjective list of Korean streetwear brands that you should know:
1.  99%IS @99percentis
Tumblr media
courtesy: 99%IS
Behind 99%IS stays Korean designer Bajowoo that graduated from Tokyo’s Dressmakers Fashion School and launched Korea’s first ever Punk Brand in FW 2012. Previously, in 2003 Bajowoo as a fanatic of punk and rock culture began attending ESMONDE Korea. After graduation he began designing merch and outfits for underground punk and rock bands in music scenes of Tokyo, Seoul, London, Paris and Bangkok, where he refined his taste for the visceral and subversive lifestyle. Bajowoo’s vision is unique in the way that he doesn’t accept ‘Just Punk’.Graphic color treatments and sharp cuts round out 99% IS’ sleek and futuristic interpretation of punk and street fashion.
Tumblr media
courtesy: Vogue
The designer defines his brand with the explanation :“There is that whole 1 percent of culture that most people don’t care about, but to me and my friends, it is our 99 percent.” These friends include one of Korea’s biggest influencers and super star -  G-Dragon, and a dedicated following of artists, designers.

KOREAN DESIGNERS THAT ARE AT THE SPOTLIGHT RIGHT NOW
It is significant SIGN: more and more Korean designers are making their own name in Global Fashion Industry.
In 2018 LVMH Prize competition, there were 2  Korean nominees out of 20  - Rok Hwang and Younchan Chung.
Even though Japanese designers are quite known in fashion industry and they have established fashion market, exactly that more Asian designers are making their own name in this global market - especially Korean designers.
Nevertheless, this year’s winner of 2018 LVMH Prize is Japanese designer Masayuki Ino who stays behind the brand Doublet but Korean Designer Rok Hwang of Rokh is the special price receiver. Initially, Hwang was studying  menswear at Central Saint Martins but was convinced to pursue womenswear by his tutor Louise Wilson. After gradation he started working at major brands like: Céline, Chloé, and Louis Vuitton. In 2016, Hwang launched his own brand that is famous for unique renditions of familiar garments like biker jackets, trench coats and suiting.

Another Seoul-bred designer Younchan Chung established his brand The Sirius immediately after graduating from fashion school, and after just a mere two seasons, won the prestigious International Fashion Showcase designer award presented by the British Fashion Council. He was also among the 20 nominees of 2018 LVMH Prize. He started in 2015 in Seoul but is mostly focusing on European-market and yet received the most attention in the fashion industry. His collections are famous for focusing to the exquisite detail and high-quality fabrics. But main core identity extend to unisex collections, although silhouettes and style take after the menswear.

In 2017 Edition of LVMH Prize, one of the finalist was Korean - Japanese designer Yoon Ahn of AMBUSH - unisex ready-to-wear brand, that started it out as a jewelry line. Have to mention that Yoon is Dior Homme’s newly appointed jewellery designer, besides that she and her husband are listed in Business of Fashion’s Top 500 People influencing the global fashion industry.

Inevitable LVMH Prize mark off new direction of designers to follow. Even though this prize was launched not long ago in November 2013 (with 5 Editions until now), almost every designer was quite successful after that competition -  e.g  Simon Porte Jacquemus from JACQUEMUS, Marine Serre from MARINE SERRE or Shayne Oliver from HOOD BY AIR.
Tumblr media

Rejina Pyo is next Korean designer that is making their name in fashion industry. The Korean-born, London-based designer is famous for combing graphic inspirations and unexpected colors from abstract art with a sophisticated, yet subtle femininity. She graduated from Central Saint Martins and has worked as an assistant for Roksanda Ilincic. Rejina Pyo’s label is becoming more and more popular among female customers especially in UK, USA and Asia. The brand is sold through more than 100 stockists worldwide including Net-a-Porter, MyTheresa or Totokaelo.

Many of Korean designers studied/worked in Europe or States which gives them really decent fashion background that is mixed with the Asian origins. What can come out of it? Only something interesting and fresh. I’m looking forward to see more.

Tumblr media

The name of the most luxuries Department Store in Poland derives from Polish artist - Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, called „Witkacy”. He was known for being versatile and eccentric artist, additionally Witkiewicz is also admired by the owner of the DS - Mr Likus.  Ok, so let’s get to the point of this post. Everything starts from that many fashion insiders says that only affluent wives of meat industry moguls buy in VITKAC... Not necessarily it is not true but actual sales are elsewhere. So where?
Tumblr media
courtesy: VITKAC
The answer is pretty short: FARFETCH or more precisely Farfetch customers.  This British online fashion retail platform sells products from over 700 boutiques with high-end and streetwear brands from around the world.
Tumblr media
courtesy: YouTube
VITKAC is selling via Farfetch platform pieces from Alexander McQueen. Gucci, Givenchy, Jimmy Choo to Saint Laurent. Right know VITKAC is selling more than 11 000 pieces of womenswear and 9 000 pieces of menswear which is above Browns and Antonioli products put on this British platform.
VITKAC has also its own online shop but the turnover is incomparably lower than in case of Farfetch sales.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Screenshots from Google
Finally, VITKAC was amidst one of the best selling retailers on a British digital platform in a recent years.
Polish most luxuries Department Store is quite fine even though decent-sized sales are from overseas.
