OSWALD WILLIAM WALTER is a 33 YEAR OLD toon from the WASTELAND. His first appearance was on SEPTEMBER 5TH, 1927 in TROLLEY TROUBLES. He is THE FIRST RESIDENT of the Wasteland and resides at MICKEYJUNK MOUNTAIN. Working as THE RULER OF THE WASTELAND takes up much of his time, but when he’s not working, he can be found SULKING OVER HIS BROTHER’S POPULARITY and ROUNDING UP HIS BUNNY CHILDREN. The Thinner Disaster STOLE OSWALD’S WIFE FROM HIM AND HE’S DETERMINED TO GET HER BACK.

Oswald’s bunny children were not imbued with humanity like most other toons. Yen Sid decided taking care of four-hundred-and-twenty bunny children was enough trouble, without turning them into humans.

Oswald has always been a more mischievous and snappy foil to Mickey, but ever since the Thinner Disaster, he can be downright mean and temperamental. His sequestering of himself on Mickeyjunk Mountain has Wastelanders worried, if not for his wellbeing, then for the fate of the Wasteland.

He has kept his ability to remove body parts easily and without any pain or gore. Since becoming ink-touched by the Blot, the removal site does have a tendency to ‘bleed’ black ink, something that is unusual for toons with this ability. His foot remains lucky, though he disputes that idea.

Though his title of “Lucky Rabbit” indicates that he should be living a great life, Oswald would say that his luck has turned against him. And well, he wouldn’t be wrong. Abandoned by his creator, tossed into a land made out of trash, and newly widowed, Oswald’s as sour as he can be, even if most of these injuries happened decades ago.

It started with Walt leaving him– which hurt more than anything, but Oswald could deal, because he knew it hurt Walt just as much. Or– he’d thought it did. It had been a stab to the back to find out that he’d created someone else within twenty-four hours. And he’s hated that someone ever since. Mickey Mouse has been a thorn in his side for over ninety years, and he’s never even met the guy.

Still, he at least had his sweetie, his kids, his friends, and a home to live in that he was growing pretty fond of. This was something he at least got to hold onto for a decade or so.

When the Thinner Disaster occurred, things began spiraling rapidly out of control. He suddenly found himself having to be in the position of war general– he was only made to entertain people, dammit!– and having to watch his friends fall in what felt like a futile quest. The Mad Doctor was helpful, but only to a degree. More often than not, Oswald found himself arguing with the Doctor over methods– the Doctor’s morals were loose, at best. It all compounded the stress.

Ortensia was the only one that made the task manageable. And then she fell too. Worse than any of the other defeats he had suffered before, this one was entirely his fault. He’d made the foolish assumption that as long as the Blot was defeated, it didn’t matter what happened to him. But it mattered to Ortensia, and she shoved him out of the way, taking his place as the Blot stripped her of her paint. He managed to put the stopper in the bottle, but that would be the last thing he did that was connected with the war.

For over sixty years, Oswald has been stewing atop Mickeyjunk Mountain, isolated from all his friends and anyone but his children and his guards. The arrival of the new citizens and the shift in everyone’s forms has forced him to come out of his solitude though, and he’s finding it difficult to reintegrate into a society filled with reminders of his past heartaches.
