 this  is  mentioned  in  the  book  ,  but  i  just  wanted  to  expand  on  this  and  make  it  into  a  full  headcanon  .

 geralt  cannot  cast  his  signs  without  his  medallion  .

 please  note  :  it  is  mentioned  in  passing  by  schirrú  ,  and  not  confirmed  by  geralt  as  far  as  i  can  find  .  but  i’m  going  to  take  it  as  my  canon  anyways  .  the  medallion  has  magical  properties  helps  to  amplify  a  witcher’s  magic  to  the  point  where  they  can  manifest  it  into  their  signs  .  without  the  medallion  ,  it’s  too  weak  .  this  is  why  geralt  never  takes  his  off  while  he’s  doing  anything  .  it’s  not  just  regular  jewelry  .  it’s  an  integral  part  of  who  he  ,  who  witchers  ,  are  .  he  will  also  not  let  anyone  touch  it  unless  he  absolutely  trusts  them  .
