"If 'dere had eva' been a point in me life dat I did not consida' ya as a talkin' snack...It would 'ave been the point when ye figured out that I only bit ya to scare ya. "
This is my sea gremlin/feral fish lady, Venti🌊 💙 🌊 .
I like using her for monster roleplays, but anything is fine. She and I are well over the age of 18. Feel free to message me, she might bite, but I won't lol. Follows with @ask-tenshigrace
“How can I move thee? Will no entreaties cause thee to turn a favourable eye upon thy creature, who implores thy goodness and compassion? Believe me, Frankenstein, I was benevolent; my soul glowed with love and humanity; but am I not alone, miserably alone? You, my creator, abhor me; what hope can I gather from your fellow creatures, who owe me nothing?”
She had to get out of here. Her tail tried to grip the side of the wall to some avail, but it left her exposed with no where to hide!
Dark eyes looked about frantically, trying to figure out what to do, only for it to be too late. A lone figure stood at the edge of the hole, gazing downwards with their sword drawn. She stared at them wide-eyed, not knowing what to do besides curling her tail around and above her, bracing for impact.
'So this is how I die then.'
How was she supposed to know that it would end this way?
The siren had been slinking about the castle for her prey when an ill-conceived trap had been her downfall. A surprised shriek left her as she was almost sent careening to he demise.

Amber eyes watched from her spot in the nearby stream. The human she was currently tailing seemed like the type of big shot. That was preferable considering that she needed some information.
Planet? What was that? Her gills flared slightly at the unknown usage of terminology.
Akaridion... Was that another term for a country? So many questions rattled about in her head, but she could answer none without yielding information first.
"Dey call me Venti, and I am a 'watagyal'."
Venti kept herself close to her designated body of water, just in case a swift escape was needed. However, she pulled her body onto the rocky edge, revealing a bloodstone colored body with flecks of yellow here and there. A long eel like tail wrapped about her torso for extra protection.
"Howeva' trolls..." she stated. "... can come in different sizes, shapes, and colors." She emphasized by holding up a webbed digit for each noun.
"Dey dwell in an' are made o' stone... Many o' dem are fearsome buggers like yerself."
She realized a bit too late that she probably shouldn't have added that last bit. He could quite easily crush all 4"1 of her.

Yellow eyes watched the other warily from her spot in the nearby stream. Similarly colored fins had been pinned by her head the moment he started talking.
He was a hulk of a male, and she, quite frankly, didn't know what to think of him. So, with nothing else on the line, she simply replied with the same tone.
"I WAS ONLY CURIOUS, I 'AVE NEVA' SEEN A TROLL LIKE YOU BEFORE!"
mmmm you know how in the franking stein novel victor dies so thee monster just kills himself. except. thee monster literally had all of vicky’s notes and shit. theoretically, he knew what the ‘’’cure’’’ to death was. wouldn’t it have been so so so sexy conceptually if after victor finally experienced the sweet escape of death, hoping it’ll bring him back to his loved ones, only for thee monster to bring him right back?
Pride and Prometheus asks what if Mary Bennet, spinster with an interest in natural science, met Victor Frankenstein and helped him create his creature's bride.
It was sweet and funny and very charming. I think John Kessel did an admirable job with the characterisations as well as the plot. I have to admit, I was a little surprised by the direction it went it but in a good way. Also I just adore the cover.
Pacing is a bit slow with a few more action packed moments, but I think that made it feel more gothic and in keeping with the tone of Frankenstein especially. From what I've seen in other people's reviews, the ending wasn't super well received but I had no problems with it. I will say, don't go in expecting an Austenesque ending though. I think Pride and Prometheus is very much characters from Austen dropped into the world and tone of Shelley, not the other way round.
I loved it and I'm very glad I started the month with it.

"VARVATOS DIDN'T MEAN TO FRIGHTEN YOU. VARVATOS WAS JUST..." Varvatos exclaimed with genuine surprise and yet concern. "YOU CAUGHT VARVATOS OFF GUARD, IS ALL."
