Daily Wrist 11/7/19
Daily Wrist 11/7/19,Seiko 5 Sport Auto Bought this many years ago as it matched my Sandstorm FJ Cruiser, which is long since gone. It's a bit small but it's an auto and needed some attention. I like the field dial and the lime is pretty good. What's on your wrist today? ,,https://watch-assist.com/2019/11/07/daily-wrist-11-7-19/,spam

BOLDR Venture - Jet Black Review & Unboxing Vids
BOLDR Venture - Jet Black Review & Unboxing Vids,
BOLDR Venture Jet Black - Unboxing and Review
One of my hobbies/passions is getting the chance to review watches.  I wear them for about a month or so and then give some idea to my readers and fans how the watch is holding up, things that are great and things that could be brought up a notch or two. The BOLDR Venture in Jet Black is a field watch. It's a very NICE field watch! For some, the field watch is the go-to while others prefer to wear divers. Here's the unboxing video: [embed]https://youtu.be/ofXb-bkNx30[/embed] As a field watch, and I have a couple, this BOLDR definitely stands out from the crowd. If you watch the un-boxing video, BODLR includes a watch roll with the Venture comfortably nestled into the first slot. Immediately, I was impressed with the presentation of the watch. The Venture also felt rather light, which is good, considering how many watches I own that are heavy due to their water resistance and their automatic movements. Most field watches are in the same weight class, light and easy to wear. The field watch was born out of the need to have soldiers be able to do one thing and still check the time without having to resort to reaching into a pocket to retrieve their pocket watch. During WWII, there were four manufacturers of the A-11 field watch: Bulova, Elgin, Hamilton and Waltham. There may have been others - these are what i found in my quick research. Like those iconic watches, the Venture has a clean non-reflective dial with legible indices. There are the standard 12 hour marking around the outside of the dial and the 24 hour marking towards the inner part of the dial. The need for accurate timing is embodied into the Venture. The movement features “hacking”, which in simple terms, means that when you pull out the crown, the second hand stops and you can set time to the PRECISE second; something truly important for the military. If you look at the back of the case in the photos, it features embossed limited edition artwork; with the specs laid out around the edge. The Venture also features an ETA 802.102 Swiss Quartz Movement – it has not lost a single second since the day I put it on my wrist. The Venture started it’s month long test the next morning. The watch case is 38mm and is fabricated out of aerospace grade titanium with a black coating that has proven to be exceptionally tough. “How tough?”, you might ask. I was taking some garbage out to the curb and the metal garbage can lid SLAMMED down on the watch, leaving a mark that I thought was the coating coming off. Honestly, I was pretty worried that I had damaged the Venture. Nope. It was the paint from the garbage can lid, which came back off rather easily using my thumbnail. Watches that are built like tanks are my usual go to since my regular day job involves computer repairs and some tower cases can scratch and mangle a watch and it’s crystal in one fell swoop. I carry band-aids as well since skin is less tough than my watches. The crystal is a flat sapphire with reflective coating on the inner surface. If you are new to watches, sapphire is one of the most desirable crystals as it stands up to scratching much better than mineral glass. The lowest level of crystal is acrylic and many older watches featured that type of crystal. The case is also very thin, and fits under any long sleeve shirt. I don’t think I have explain short sleeves…well I hope not. The logoed crown is at the 4 o’clock position – this is preferable for many, since lefties that wear it on the right wrist don’t have the crown digging in to skin just above the wrist, while righties won’t have it digging into their left wrist. Many of my clients asked about the watch and how nice it was. After hearing my spiel about this watch, I would hand it over for them to check out. I had to wrestle them to get it back…it’s THAT good of a design and it’s 11mm thickness and 38mm case makes this a unisex watch. I have taken this watch on hikes, shows, client calls, music and other photography events, and let me be blunt: a heavy watch when shooting pro level cameras with pro lenses just adds to the fatigue after hours on my feet. The Venture is barely noticeable in terms of weight. I was grateful to NOT notice it’s weight! The one area I have not tested, except for some splashing while watering my nearly dead front yard plants, was it’s water resistance. The Venture is rated for 100m/10ATM//330ft. It got quite wet and show no signs of internal fogging or other issues. I won’t be running it through my laundry cycle either, but I am quite confident in this watch and it’s ability to get doused, dunked or accidentally chucked into a pool at a party while on your wrist. Over the course of the past month and a half, I did have a couple of suggestions for the Venture and what BOLDR could improve. The NATO strap seemed to have gotten a little relaxed over time and the dial would suddenly be facing the outside of my wrist. I would have to open the titanium buckle and re-position it correctly and occasionally make it tighter. The band also features titanium loops and buckle which is pretty durable and lightweight. I would personally like to see a heavier weight NATO strap, or a ZULU strap that might be custom made to fit through the space between the band pin and the case and have a heavier duty feel to it. The lume is listed as SuperLume, but I found myself occasionally straining to read the dial when I was driving around at night. In defense of the slightly dimmer lume: if a field watch is worn on the wrist of a member of the armed forces, you don’t want lume that some sniper with a scope can see at 300 yards, but a balance has to be struck between that and very muted lume. Overall, I am very well pleased with the BOLDR Venture and feel quite honored to be able to review this for my readers and for BOLDR. PROS: Lightweight Durable Easy on the wrist NATO Strap vs. a watch band Easy to read in daylight IMPROVEMENT: Lume could be a bit brighter Dial indices could also be a bit whiter for legibility Nato Strap – thicker version or a Zulu Specs from their site:
Case: 38mm Solid aerospace grade Titanium with DLC Black Coating
Movement: ETA 802.102 Swiss-Made Quartz Movement, Up to 36 months of battery life
Water Resistance: 100m (330ft) / 10ATM
Crown: Push-pull with custom embossed BOLDR logo
Bezel: Nil
Dial: Matte dial with printed indexes with Superlume
Hands: Customs hands with Superlume
Lens: Flat sapphire crystal with Inner-side Anti-Reflective coating
Strap: NATO Canvas strap with solid titanium buckle with etched logo
Case Thickness: 11mm
Lug size: 20mm
Lug to lug: 45mm

LAmicroLUX - Event in April!
LAmicroLUX - Event in April!, This April is an event for micro luxury watch brands and I can't wait to go! I am still wearing my BOLDR Jet Black Venture - the titanium field watch that is so light I keep looking at my wrist to make sure it's still on! A Blog To Watch posted the event and I am redirecting anyone to read that post and register! https://www.ablogtowatch.com/lamicrolux-16-boutique-watch-brands-to-exhibit-in-la-under-one-roof/?fbclid=IwAR0IxqLIudiI8vGlOxg8IIw5rtyRLTHusrZ87cCIW7AZ9BreMdu9pJCsWU0 ,,https://watch-assist.com/2019/03/05/lamicrolux-event-in-april/,spam

Daily Wrist - 1/13/17 - Off-road Edition Casio Pro-Trek PRW-3000 This was another find at a great price! The watch can tell me the sunrise and sunset times, compass directions in standard format and bearings - which for off-road and drone flying comes in handy; altimeter and barometer; and of course the stopwatch, timer and world time functions that Casios are known for. Being solar powered is also a huge advantage over having to open the case back every few years. Travis Leon Heirloom Founder’s Edition
Travis Leon Heirloom Founder’s Edition,Sometimes you get a watch that literally takes your breath away. When this arrived last week from my matched Santa - Jeff from one of my watch groups - I literally held my breath as I gingerly took it out of the box. Wow. This watch feels like it should cost a FEW thousand bucks. It looks like it should cost a FEW thousand bucks. I put it back into the box waiting for the perfect day to put it on and wear it. This is an automatic dress watch, something I did not have until this gorgeous watch arrived at my door in a box with two other watches, a jar of apiary honey and some other cool things my Santa sent. I had never heard of the brand - it was launched on Kickstarter in 2015 from what I could research about it. I was immediately taken by the hands and the way the watch just screamed “LUXURY”; holding it convinced me that my Santa had lost his mind sending me something reserved for millionaires. The Heirloom Watch has a sapphire crystal, gold touched indices, applied gold markers, sword hands and is 10mm thick. It’s clearly an homage to the designs of Patek from the 1930s with a 1950s simplistic look, something I’ve been attracted to all of my watch collecting years. Maybe that’s what I love the most about it - it feels like it’s from a bygone era. Would this be worn on the wrist of one of the top executives from Madison Avenue in the 1950s? YES! (Oddly I love the music from the 30s and 40s as well as the 50s...hmm, maybe there is something to that reincarnation stuff.) I wore it on a light client day last Thursday so as not to get it all dinged up while fixing computers, the main reason why I have some beaters such as the Casio G-Shock Tough Solar. I did get a little bit of desk rash on the buckle; I’ll get over it as it’s now customized for me; the rest of the watch remains unscathed. This needs to be worn for special occasions...though I love this thing it’s gonna be hard for me to not wear it. When I got to my client call, she immediately thought this was one of the multi-thousand dollar watches. It exudes luxury even if it’s just sitting in the case. I told her it was a gift and she was floored as I had zero clues on the cost of the exquisite timepiece. Ok, let’s get to specs, since many watch nuts are looking for those specifics. The case as mentioned is 10mm thick including the 2mm domed sapphire crystal. The band is a gorgeous brown leather that seamlessly blends with the gold case. The case is 40mm with a 20mm lug. The band is croc-leather and with the curved lugs, fits so comfortably that I had to keep checking to see if it was still there. Ok I just wanted to keep looking at it, it is that nice! The inside of the band is stamped with the Travis Leon Logo and is quite comfortable to wear...did i mention “luxuriously comfortable”? Inside is a Miyota 9015 Automatic 24 jewel movement running at 28,800bph. It’s the smoothest second hand I have ever owned, really. I think that adds to the overall luxurious feel. There is not even the slightest sense of “ticking”, it’s that smooth going around the dial. My watch is stamped with the Founder’s Edition Mark and is one of the first 250 made. I’m truly honored. The case back is see through showing the detailed movement and the Travis Leon logo on the rotor. Holding the case back on are six screws and it’s rated to 3ATMs, or 30 feet, enough for washing your hands or a mild splash. Of course I would not want to try anything more than that with this beautiful watch. If I had kids, this would be in the will for one of them. I will close with some info from their kickstarter page... Specifications: • Case: 40mm case in 316L Steel / 316L Steel with Rose Gold PVD-IP • Lug width: 20mm • Lug to Lug: 46mm • Case Thickness: 10mm • Dial: Enamel-coated White or Black Velvet Dial • Crystal: 2.0mm Double Dome Sapphire Front-glass • Caseback: 6-screws Exhibition caseback • Strap: 20mm Genuine croc-grain leather with engraved tang buckle • Water resistance: 3ATM / 30 Meters • Features: Date window at 6 o’clock position, Serialized limited edition with Founder’s Edition engraving Movement Specifications: • Customized Japanese Miyota 9015, 24 Jewels • 42 Hours Power Reserve • 28,800 bph (4Hz) Operating Frequency • Automatic or Handwinding • Hacking Seconds • Balance staff shock absorber • Customized rotor with Rose Gold PVD-IP and Geneva-Pattern Engraving (Not shown on Prototype) For now, I had to put it back into my watch case. I can’t wait to put on a suit and tie and wear this to some more formal events. I already miss wearing it!

Daily Wrist 12/21/17 Bulova Marine Star
Daily Wrist 12/21/17 Bulova Marine Star,Daily Wrist 12/21/17 Bulova Marine Star This came via a trade and I’m quite impressed with the subtle elegance of the dial and bezel. The watch has a feel and heft that give it a high quality, almost pure luxury feel. The bracelet has a built in expansion for diving and it too is a high end feel as the links are solid. While it’s rated to 100meters, I probably would not take it diving. I have other watches that are depth rated with screw down crowns. This is more of a dress watch that can easily go with jeans. It feels quite comfortable though I might put another link back in just for a little more room. The brushed steel on the case and bracelet lead up to the high polished bezel with an edge that’s easy to move. The crystal rises ever so slightly above the bezel but not so far as to be a hazard if it gets bumped, as has happened on one of my ESQ watches. I’m looking forward to years of wear!! Daily Wrist 12/6/17
Daily Wrist 12/6/17,Daily Wrist 12/6/17 I love the markers and hands, the lume is spectacular! The original band was not quite comfortable and this NATO really makes it shine.
