My 'new' #Seiko6139-6019 aka 'Deep Blue' from August 1969, Resist/Resist which I got last year to function as a donor watch for my other #Seiko61396019. I was going to use the 2 piece sweep hand. This piece still has it's early matte hands. The crystal has been replaced and there is some dirt around the crystal and there are some dirty spots on the dial. This baby just needs a proper service and a cleanup and it'll shine even more. There are some dings on the case but the dings are a lot less than on my first #61396019 so I'm not going to use it as a donor anymore because it just looks too good. The dings give the watch it's character also. My Seiko 6138-0030 aka 'Kakume' or 'Big Blue' from may 1977. This beauty wouldn't exist without the care of @24kairos who serviced the watch, @watchcaserestorations who did his magic on the case, @time671circle and @avantnoire who hooked me up with the bezel. I can't thank you guys enough for everything. The bracelet is from @uncleseiko. I seriously can't get enough of this piece. Yesterday I went in a total panic mode when I bumped it into an armrest when I was on train. My Seiko 6139-6019 aka 'Deep Blue' from July 1969, Resist/Resist. This reference wasn't released 'Proof'. I'm so lucky to have found this one. Such a rare reference to find. It was released for the North American market only. Note the difference with other 601x references, below the Seiko logo it says 'Automatic' only and not 'Chronograph Automatic' like the other references do. It's wearing its battle scars from the past, a pretty beaten up crystal, the lume isn't good anymore, the sweep hand is incorrect and the bracelet isn't correct either but that will be fixed. Which stories could you tell? Hidden under that beaten up crystal is a dial in perfect condition. I already got a NOS crystal to replace it and soon it will have the correct sweep hand. You may think what's the fuzz about a sweep hand? The 6019 was released originally with the 2 piece sweep hand. Seiko 6139's with a 2 piece sweep hand which were send for servicing after mid 1970 got the hand replaced by a 1 piece sweep hand because they were less 'faulty', less 'hassle' to take care of. A perfectly logic step.
