Guys, it got so much freaking worse. KOSA is bad, but SCREEN is even worse, somehow.
"Sen. Mike Lee has introduced the SCREEN ACT, a bill that applies the "harmful to minors" standard used to ban LGBTQ+ books and resources in schools and libraries and apply it nationally to the internet.
Any site that has any amount of material "harmful to minors" would be forced to employ surveillance tech (biometric scans, ID uploads, background checks) to prevent minors from accessing "pornography."
You will not be surprised to learn that this is backed by the Heritage Foundation.
Unlike some of the state age-verification laws, many of which are being challenged in court, SC will be enforced by the FTC, which has the ability to levy fines, raid business and freeze bank accounts. Yes, meaning that even non-for-profits like Ao3 will suffer.
This is something for all US users to keep on their radar. Call your reps, call your senators, and spread the word to protect our archive!"
- When talking with Republicans play up the fact that this would force Elon to implement age verification systems on X (yes do call it X during the call). Elon's been threatening to primary Republicans who stand in his way so there's fear of him. Also play up concerns about "Liberals" doxxing people or Chinese hackers.
- When talking with Democrats, play up the connections to Project 2025 and suggest voters will not be happy to see Democrats siding with it.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition has reported that an Israeli Heron drone is “actively circling” the Handala, a Gaza-bound aid ship attempting to deliver urgently needed humanitarian supplies to the besieged enclave.
According to a post on X by the coalition, the Handala is currently positioned 90 nautical miles (167 kilometers) from Gaza—beyond the point where another aid vessel, the Madleen, was intercepted by Israeli forces in June.

Apparently it's a SWERF group that's responsible for the takedowns on itch.

Mastercard and visa have reported to a couple news outlets that they are currently being swamped with calls and complaints. Keep up the pressure and try to (politely) insist that you leave a complaint via phone instead of letting the rep direct you to emails. It's way easier to be overwhelmed by a much smaller number of calls so each one counts for a bit more!

"Ok let's run this video in the background while I do things :)"
then that video ends and next video autoplays in which apparently from one day to another VShojo exploded like a dying sun and its biggest talents quit and Ironmouse got gadooshed out of every single U.S. Dollar in existence and they also funneled charity money and then Kson got the JP CEO of VShojo on stream and executed him Guantanamo Bay style by telling him she quits live on stream
then it autoplayed another Summoning Salt video.

I think some people have trouble seeing fascism as anything other than 1940s Germany.
But I think 'people going to a comic convention needing to have a plan in case the government's goons show up to disappear people' is a pretty good demonstration of what it can look like in 2025.

itch is removing all of their adult games now
Oh things are fucking dire huh. There won't be any storefronts left

so itchio has shadowbanned any games tagged with 'nsfw', 'adult', or 'erotic' so they don't show up in searches, and several devs have reported that their r18 games have been removed from the site with no warning
you know, maybe the internet shouldn’t be controlled by payment processors and terf lobbyists. and maybe people should be more concerned about this rise of censorship on queer media.

in keeping with the continued purification of the internet, itch io has shadowbanned or outright deleted all adult games.

rambling to myself on discord
story idea I can never use: It is 2039, the world is much worse, its a bit more cuberpunk, its somewhere in the US. A group is playing old school D&D (by their standards) basically anywhere they can, first at a library, then at a failing coffee shop, etc. The world is falling apart, the country is falling apart, the corporate power structure just crushes people left and right, and ll through it they are adventuring in and around the little sleepy town of legally-distinct-from-Eveningstar in Not-Cormyr, befriending villagers and learning new magic and exploring dungeons and caves, fighting monsters and spending their gold at the local tavern
[2:40 PM]They become obsessed with the Ghostly Halls, a nearby megadungeon, one that's responsible as the source of all the monsters in the end, and yet the deeper down the more tragedy occurs. People die or grow sick or cant play anymore or lose everything, they just grimly keep descending. Insurgents are in the hills, the police are watching everyone like hawks(edited)
[2:41 PM]and they reach so far down. Until its just the last of them, still playing in the middle of like open societal collapse, boarded up together
[2:41 PM]and remarking, that the dungeons have changed
[2:42 PM]theyve changed with time and new playing location, incorporated a bit of the world around
[2:42 PM]and the deepest floors of the Ghostly Halls weren't the old dwarf-built halls anymore, they cant be
[2:42 PM]too round, too organic in structure, like veins, like a body
[2:42 PM]a Great Beast
[2:42 PM]perhaps, they belive
[2:42 PM]you could find its heart
[2:43 PM]maybe it has been here all along, cursing their world, both of their worlds, infesting them with monsters and danger and death. Stalking the living to gorge itself on the misery of mankind
[2:44 PM]maybe you could slay such a thing, if you could find it. If you could find somewhere in it that could be stabbed. It has you, it has already consumed you, but you aren't digested and dead, you're alive still and your steel is bright and shining, and it can cut and stab, and the rebels and National Guard are fighting over the streets and the projects and its all in synchornicity
[2:44 PM]and i have no idea how it ends
