Hey folks, this is not your typical post about incorrect quotes.
I want to address a serious issue today, and most of you probably know what’s been going on in the US.
The killing of George Floyd started another serious and necessary debate on Police brutality in the states. (And I think not just there. Every country is affected in some way or another.)
My heart doesn’t ache, no. My heart is bleeding and crying out of pain about what has been going on for days now. What people have been going through for years and years. This is not the first case of police brutality against POC, nor the second, and it probably isn’t the last one.
It happened so many times already that I can’t count them all. Our world has lost so many beautiful souls to this never-ending issue. Additionally to this, we lost so many brothers and sisters of color who were part of the LGBTQ+ community too. Even though it is pride month, I can’t enjoy and celebrate it as much as I want to.
But now is the time to act. Now more than ever! We all have a voice, and I’m sure as hell using mine. And I want you to do the same.
40 Ways you can help right now shows you different techniques and approaches to support the #blacklivesmatter movement in various forms.
Everyone’s able to do something. Even if you don’t have the money to donate, or you’re not from the US, share articles, draw attention to it in some way. Being silent about this puts you on the side of the offenders.
I understand that I will never understand. However, I stand with all of you!!! Credit goes to @sfbucketlist on instagram for these 40 ways you can help right now.

Can we please talk about how fatgum is the perfect mentor for tamaki and kirishima??
With so many people being like: FATGUM MORE LIKE SLIMGUM WHOOOO, I wanted to say my thoughts on this dude that we love. Episode 9 was such a blast for so many different reasons, but I think it gave me so much insight on Fatgum as a hero and his potential to make Tamaki and Kirishima into the best heroes they can be!!
Fatgum is perceived to be a chonky guy
Tumblr media
Everyone in the anime calls him “Fat” or “Fat Guy”, and while he’s not the butt of every joke, it’s apparent that his weight is the first thing people choose to see him by. The fact that Fat Gum chose his hero name to reflect his body image shows a lot about his character. And when it was revealed last episode that this squishy man turns into THIS:
Tumblr media
I was immediately impressed with his character SO MUCH. Here is a dude that is stereotypically attractive and fit, whose quirk forces him to eat to have enough fat to absorb attacks. But he does it with no complaint! Because even though his weight is the character trait people choose to define him as, he knows that he has a duty to protect people. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to be laughed at for a choice he is making consciously to protect others! The dysmorphia he must feel when he changes from slim to fat and vice versa!! What makes Fatgum so special is that he recognizes society will continue to perceive him as his body weight, and despite that, he doesn’t care because he has faith in himself and his abilities. Which he then teaches the bois!!
Our shy boi and anxiety:
Tumblr media
Tamaki struggles with his self image in the form of anxiety. And Fatgum realizes this immediately! It sounds like he took Tamaki on because he saw how powerful his quirk was, but knew Tamaki’s self image was injuring his full potential. Fatgum is exactly what Tamaki needs: someone who has overcome societal pressures and has recognized his true worth without the validation of others. Tamaki doesn’t need all of society on his side to ease his anxiety, he needs a friend (thanks mirio!) and a mentor who he can lean on. A moment I love is Fatgum’s unwavering resolve in Tamaki when he says he can handle the Three Bullets in Episode 8 and Fatgum believes him right away. Amazing.
Our pointy, pointy boi:
Tumblr media
Finally: Kirishima. He’s a hero who constantly measures his self worth to that of other people. Hints of this have been sprinkled through the narrative of bnha (telling midoriya his quirk isn’t flashy in season 1, having an almost carbon copy character of him in season 2, relating to amajiki’s sentiments about a gap between him and his classmates in season 4 ETC). He has self image issues about his appearance, about his manliness, about his will to overcome fear. And it’s apparent in Episode 9 that Fatgum supports him wholeheartedly in overcoming these facts when he taunts Rappa that he done fucked up. I can’t wait to see how Kirishima grows from this encounter.
Anyways, sorry for the LONG RANT but I had to express my awe for Fatgum and what a FUCKING ICON he is!!

Eep! I forgot to post this here last night! Baku-pumpkin cut it really close to the wire - I had to put it out half finished for trick-or-treaters! But I managed to squeeze in the last details before bed, phew!  Big thanks to togaiswife for buying me the pumpkin! And to  Marlene and Alex P for their support! <3
