If a goal is meaningless without the journey, then why have a goal? Why not just have the journey. This is the philosophy of Robin Summers and Amber Richards; two wandering souls facing the extraordinary and unbelievable, wandering and rediscovering the world that he shunned and she was taken away from.

Send me ‘Dad’ and a question and my character’s Dad will answer it.
#please ask muse#also fun fact: I have faceclaims for Robin; Amber; Katrina and Dante's fathers (that's 2 fathers)#ofc Samantha can also be asked. And technically the Pokémon too? But with one exception they'd probably be a little generic

"There are...so many pyukumukus out here today" the girl squeaked, holding a green one she found.
"... Yeah, they're everywhere." Robin said rather blankly. He'd never really vibed with the 'pokemon are pests' concept, he believed there was always a reason why 'pest outbreaks' occurred that could be peacefully solved... But looking at the beach that was crawling with the weird spiky bean bags, he understood why Alolans had issues with them...
... Oh and this girl managed to pick the one shiny specimen on the beach, but that was just a side-bit.

There's a lot of banging going on down in the kitchen. If they were to investigate, they'd find nearly every pot and pan is stuck to a nearly two-and-a-half meter...is it a goth Magneton? It sure it something, alright, and it's making a lot of noise. But the Sandy Shocks is also sparking, clearly just as alarmed about everything going on.
(Please tag as 'Paradox Pandemonium' for the sake of searching)
Samantha was not amused. Okay sure, nobody in the household had any cooking skills of note, but that didn't mean the crockery and cutlery could be used as toys for the Pokémon. As she heard Robin's footsteps coming down to investigate, she spoke, head slowly turning to look over her shoulder.
"You might be banned from the kitchen Robin, but that doesn't mean your Pokémo-
-what?!"
There stood Robin, staring at the strange Magneton floating in the kitchen...
... With his actual Magneton floating behind him.
The mother-son-pokémon trio looked back at the inexplicable intruder, taking note of the similarities and differences thanks to Mazona's presence. There was a moment of silence before Robin finally spoke.
"I've never heard of an Alolan Magneton." He commented, "But if I had to guess..."

“Did you know?”
In my first ever draft, Samantha was actually a villain.
Back when I was a teenager, writing awful fan fiction that I hope has been obliterated from the universe, Robin (then known as Zefri) had an overbearing, unnamed mother who really did not want her son to become a trainer because... I forget why. I think they were in hiding from the main antagonist?
She ended up taking on an antagonistic rival-esque role, trying to defeat Robin and convince/force him to come home and stop what he was doing. I cannot recall her team, but her starter was a Cyndaquil.

(Ancient-pokehistorian) meta: Dreams (Robin and Amber)
... ... So what happens when you achieve your dreams? Because that is what Robin and Amber have done.
As a teenager, Robin's dream was to become a Pokémon champion, a dream he abandoned into adulthood. Meanwhile as an adult, he was too much of an aimless drifter, haunted by his guilt and regrets to ever form a meaningful dream. So it's rather ironic that the only real dream he's had, he accomplished long after he abandoned it.
Similarly, Amber's only real dream was to escape her old life, to overcome her illness and burst out the gilded cage, a dream she died for, before being brought back through vigorous application of several flavours of mad science.
Other than that, Robin and Amber don't really have dreams... But to quote the blurb of this very blog: "If a goal is meaningless without the journey, then why have a goal? Why not just have the journey?"
Even with the looming threat of an evil mad scientist and his legion of doom, Robin and Amber are actually very happy with how life has gone. There isn't really much more they want, save to stay the course.

(translation: what would you think if one day I went to Kalos? Would you still love me?)

Robin had to stare at the screen for several minutes... after the few minutes it took him to figure out what the message meant (he was getting better in time, but still). Eventually he settled on an answer.
Mina, I work for the Kalos league. You can come visit any time you want.
If by "work for the Kalos league" he meant "Kalos league champion (little c) then he was technically telling the truth.

🌇🔮🧶 for both ?
Read More'd for length
🌇 - How does your muse feel about big cities?
After spending half a decade as a hermit, Robin doesn't do well with large crowds or attention without a literal mask to hide behind. Robin isn't city averse, per say, but he prefers less crowded places.
🔮 - What is your muses main goal in becoming a trainer?
His goals have changed over the years. As a (moody) teenager, Robin said he became a trainer to be less of a burden on his family and maybe to get rich and pull his family out of poverty. But a not-insignificant part of him was to stick it to his absent father, a big ol' "screw you old man, you missed out on me."
As an adult, the dreams of success and glory has lost their shine, and instead Pokémon training as a career can be summed up in three points:
He's good at it (champion-tier, after all)
It's the best career for someone who wants to travel the world
When you make the enemies he does, having fire-breathing, lightning shooting, mind-crushing power houses is vital for survival.
🧶 - Does your muse play with their Pokémon?
Absolutely he does. Robin's Pokémon are his family, and he doesn't just spend his time training them, he spends time with them, bonding with them and showing them how much he loves them. Sometimes, he gets on with Pokémon better than people.
🌇 - How does your muse feel about big cities?
She appreciates them a lot more than Robin does. Maybe it's a lonely childhood, or a need to see everything she can, but Amber most enjoys her and Robin's expeditions when there's more people there.
🔮 - What is your muses main goal in becoming a trainer?
Really, Amber doesn't have much in the way of goals as a trainer. She first took it up because 'Mad Scientist on the loose' gave her the motivation to have some protection. Like Robin, Amber is in it for travelling the world, which is easiest as a trainer.
🧶 - Does your muse play with their Pokémon?
Again, of course she does, who doesn't? Pokémon are family to Amber, especially since she can understand Pokémon.

"Sometimes watching stars is nice, I like to connect them like dots and make pictures, not just constalations but just pictures"
Amber looked over at the young multi-hue-haired girl, staring up at the night sky. Another person might be put off by the seeming non-sequitor, others by the uniform of the local gang of Alola.
These people weren't Amber, who decided to lie down on the ground and fold her arms behind her head. Was Bee talking to the pinkette? Well she was now.
"Y'know, I could never see constellations myself. People would tell me 'there's the Big Dipper... the Tauros... Those three stars are supposed to be a belt... But they were always indistinguishable from all the other stars to me..."
