AKA genola in some places. Just a blog to document builds and plainted models

Just had an inkling to paint some old ratlings for some reason. I would say, as kind of a shirt guy, that I most identify with them, eating all day, being seen as abhuman, taking a few good shots every now and then, you know. It was fun ebay mini rescuing them. I have no idea if they’re any good (seeing a lack of them in any army lists suggests not), but they were fun to do and painted up really fast.

These were the first few minis I painted in 2017 after I returned to Warhammer 40k after a long time away. I never played the game before, just bought the models because I thought they were incredibly cool.
I was first introduced to Warhammer in 2003 in the eighth grade when my friend Robert brought his 3rd edition starter set models in to assemble during lunch. We went to the Games Workshop downtown back when it was still around and I saw the giant space marine statue in front. That was cool.
2003 was when the Lord of the Rings movies had come out and was all the rage, and I really liked elves for some reason, so I bought some Eldar models: a blister pack of Eldar Rangers, and some paint, and a brush.
I was so hooked I eventually got an Eldar Jetbike, Dire Avengers, a Warlock, and also bought a Cadian Infantry Squad, a Chimera transport, a Sentinel Walker and some Catachan snipers that I thought were Cadian snipers until I opened the blister pack because my reading wasn’t good. I even bought the starter set to Battlefleet Gothic. Wow, I spent so much money on GW games back then. Eventually Robert and I graduated middle school, went to different high schools, and I never saw him after that. One day he asked for the Warhammer stuff I had, and I gave him what I had since I didn’t play with it anymore. Hmm, maybe I should have said no. But I hope he enjoyed all that stuff and he’s still into it. Robert, if you’re reading this, maybe we should get a game in some time. Though I still need to learn how to play the game...
A few years after, I bought the Battle of McCragge starter set, I gave up painting those models after they looked terrible. I dabbled in looking at other minis, like Warmachine, since that was getting popular, and I liked big, stompy robots, but didn’t really get back into miniatures until 2017. Now I’m in the deep end and my backlog is enormous. This is me documenting my painting through my backlog (lol) and posting bad pictures of bad models. If you’re reading this, I’m sorry for what you are about to experience.
