I suppose that’s exactly it. Love over hate. Every time. Oh, it’s fine. I don’t think we ever spoke while you lived in the Northside. But that makes sense considering you’re older and we had quite different friends.

We did, and I have to say that I appreciate you not holding any of those past behaviors against me. Especially since I told my daughter about the theater and she is vibrating with excitement over the prospect of getting to sing, dance, and perform. She has asked if it’s okay to bring Donut (her turtle) to come watch her practice when she’s spending time with Miss Rachel. Don’t worry. I already told her it would be more special for Donut to be surprised on show night so you won’t find a rogue turtle around anytime soon. She has been teaching him karate so.

I’m sure this will come as a shock for many people, people who have known me from church, who have seen me as nothing but the Preacher’s Daughter, the example to follow. I am so much more. After years of pain, suffering, lies and betrayals, I can finally say what I’ve been forced to keep hidden. I can say it with pride. I am a mother.

Many years ago, I fell in love and from that love came the most amazing baby girl I unfortunately was not able to keep by my side. I spent years grieving that loss and focusing myself on projects that I hoped would help me deal with that pain. But I have her back now and I’m more than trilled to tell the world she is mine.

I would like to thank her father for giving me the greatest gift I could ever ask for. And I want to thank Grace for accepting me into her life in such a pure way. I will protect her fiercely against any judgement that may come our way, but I do expect those who have any negative thing to say to keep it to themselves. We are starting a new chapter in our lives and I couldn’t be happier.

Oh to be young and have such a black and white concept of facts. I love hearing whatever facts Grace comes up with or recites out, and again, send my thanks for teaching this little nugget to read. It’s great that the girls can grow up together, Sophia is more than excited to start school so she can be just like Grace.

I’d must rather than Sophia for letting Grace teach her. She is so in love with living in all these different worlds. I should warn you that she’s apparently wanted to go all out for Soph’s birthday. She suggested we buy her a pony.

Grace is very excited for this birthday. She said Sophia turning five makes her that much closer to her age. I tried to explain they were still the same age difference but she said, “No, daddy. Five is closer to seven than four,” which isn’t a lie. She also wanted to let you know that Harry Potter has a Time Turner but she doesn’t want you to have it so that Soph can grow up with her. I understand the pain though, man. 

I have 15 days left of having a four year old and I don’t even know how to swallow that pill. My ever growing baby is going to be five and there’s nothing I can do about it because apparently cranking If I Could Turn Back Time by Cher doesn’t actually turn back time. If anyone has a time pauser or a time machine, please tell me how much it is to rent it.

I’ve been blessed. And hopefully the next generation will experience the same kind of love. Starting with Grace. Oh, no I don’t. We’re Jewish.

That’s the plan. The hate we give little kids fucks everyone so I’m hoping the love we give saves them. Ah, I didn’t realize. I’m afraid I didn’t pay much attention to anyone besides myself when I was on the Northside. So you celebrate Hanukkah then.
