How did you become a fan of the Inuyasha fandom?

I've loved Inuyasha since the days of Adult Swim in the early 2000s, when I was still in middle school. It was the second anime I ever got into (after Sailor Moon). However, I didn't start reading Inuyasha fanfiction until 2021 and writing until 2023.

What are your favourite fanfic tropes as a writer?

Soulmates, Love Confessions, Mutual Pining, Enemies to Lovers, and smut, of course. There's just something about a good love story that I find hard to resist.

And as a reader?

Same as above, really. I just really love love, y'know? And I love reading about my favorite characters falling in love. Though, I always need to have a happy ending, too!

Which work of yours is your personal favourite? The one you are most proud of?

Hmm, so far, I'm really proud of "in a barbie world". It was such a fun fic to write, though "the second hand unwinds" is a very close second. It's my baby, so I imagine in the end, it'll take first place.

Which SessKag fanfiction of another author is your go-to choice for a great read?

"Transgressions" by @wbficaholic. I can't hype this fic enough. It's the perfect combination of smut, romance, humor, and angst with a happy ending, and I tend to reread it often.

What makes a good story?

Character development, but also world-building. I love to be able to close my eyes and see the scenes play out in my head. 

Is there anything you need while writing? Snacks? Music? A comfy blanket?

My playlists and noise-canceling earbuds, a hot cup of green tea, and my computer. I do my best work when I can block out the world.

How do you get your ideas? In your dreams? In the shower?

Usually, they come to me when I'm lying in bed at night, trying to fall asleep—which then means I never actually get to sleep because I'm too busy planning things out in my mind. Sometimes inspiration will come from a song that's stuck in my head, or maybe a movie or a TV show. My Barbie fic, for instance, came to me when I came across the VHS case for the film "Life-Size".

If you could meet an Inuyasha character, what would you tell them?

Kagome—girl, aim higher. You deserve so much more than to feel like second best. Also, there's a certain daiyoukai lord who would surely treat you like the treasure you are. 

As a writer, what would your spirit animal be?

The llama (or alpaca), naturally.

What is your kryptonite as a writer?

I struggle the most with dialogue and having confidence in my work. I'm really introverted, so conversations don't come all that easily for me, and I think that's what causes me the most anxiety. Does this flow well? Is it a natural progression? Would the characters actually say something like this? I also tend to second-guess myself a lot and hesitate when it actually comes to hitting the post button.

What advice would you give someone who wants to start writing?

The easiest way to begin writing is to read read read. Find your style, develop your voice, and let your ideas flow. Write what you want to write, not what you think other people will want to read. You are your number one audience.

Roulette Fanart Category for Term 2 2024 will be Best Underappreciated Fanart. This is defined as: An Art piece with under 100 notes or retweets, designed to highlight some of the newer or lesser known artists.

Roulette Romance Category for Term 2 2024 will be Best InuParents Romance. This will be a category for both Fanart and Fanfiction.

For Fanfiction, it will be defined as: Stories that have developed a believable romance between Inu no Taisho and Izayoi (aka Inuyasha's parents). "Believable" is subjective, and it is up to those nominating/voting to draw their own line on that quantifier and vote their "Best". This includes canon universe and AU/AR settings.

For Fanart, it will be defined as: Any romantic depiction of Inu no Taisho and Izayoi (aka Inuyasha's parents).

The original Best Romance categories will remain, so all other pairings, including LGBTQ+, can be nominated into that category. All other pairings will be up for voting again next term.

He stood outside her small makeshift home, a single claw gently tapping her doorframe. She pushed the straw mat to the side, "Oh, Sesshomaru!" Her smile reached her eyes, "You look nice."

He nodded gently, "Thank you." He moved the may for her to exit, her curled hair gently bouncing.

"Alright," she smiled, folding her hands behind her back, "Lead the way." She walked quietly behind him. He looked smaller than she was used to without armor. He wore a lovely violet shade, adorned with his wondrously fluffy pelt. Oh, she wanted to pet it.

They walked in silence for some time when he finally came to a stop. His golden eyes meeting her own, "What's up?" When he said nothing, she smiled softly, "Come on." She waved him to follow her down the dirt road. "There it is," she pointed to the small roadside tavern, "Let's get a drink."

He followed her in, being seated in a back room.

Kagome smiled, "I'll be right back." She rounded the corner to the front, requesting a few dishes to be sent their way. When she returned, she found him standing at the sliding door with a slight frown on his face.

He stared off into the woods, his feelings conflicted. He felt foolish. He didn't know what to do on this so-called date. What was he supposed to do? Was she unhappy with him? So caught up in his own turmoil, he startled at the hands rounding him.

She'd knocked back a cup of her own, steeling her courage when she'd returned. "Hey Sesshomaru," her cheek softly pressed to his shoulder, "It's okay."

He gulped thickly.

"You're going through with this 'date', you don't even want to," her smile was somber. "Don't force yourself, okay," she squeezed lightly. "Besides, I kinda thought you just agreed to it because you didn't want to back down to anything - Not that that's a bad thing. It's just, you don't have to do this, you know?"

His fingers gently quivered, holding the small dish, "Woman." He felt his voice shake tremble.

Her arms loosened around him, "Sorry, you looked like you needed a hug."

SKFW Day 2 - Valentine's

Kagome was running late. She’d stayed overtime to help a student after class, and then she’d had to hurry to the chocolatier a couple of districts over to pick up the box she’d ordered.

While Kagome hurried home, her brain was busy with plans. With luck, she might still have time to set something up. They could do something simple for Valentine’s. Watch a movie. They should still have Sesshoumaru’s favourite ice cream in the freezer. It wouldn’t need to be anything fancy, as long as they were together. 

“I’m home!” Kagome called, kicking off her shoes.

“Welcome back,” Sesshoumaru’s voice replied.

A smile rose to Kagome’s lips and her heart warmed. Chocolates in hand, she went in search of her husband. 

She found him dressed smartly in a suit and holding a bouquet of pink tulips. The room flickered with candlelight and dinner was laid out on the table. Kagome noticed several of her favourite dishes were on the menu.

“What’s all this?” she asked, surprised.

Sesshoumaru smiled.

“A date.”

“It’s lovely,” Kagome breathed. 

She went to him, greeted him with a kiss. Heart brimming with love, she held out the box of chocolates to him. “Happy Valentine’s day.”

Happy Happy Birthday Smortz! Hope you had a wonderful day! Here's some reunion fluff for you.

Summary: Inuyasha pressures Sesshoumaru into offering up his services as a private tutor, claiming the up-and-coming prodigy who’d just entered his field is struggling with her recent wave of classes--purposely leaving out her true identity.

Sneak Peek

Sesshoumaru scowled at the small pile of dirty dishes in his sink. His home was modest, though secluded, keeping him away from the constant buzz of the city. The whole reason he'd chosen this field was it increased the likelihood of working alone.

It also kept his mother's requests for grandchildren at bay for most of the year, though she'd recently discovered his unlisted business number and had nearly cost him his job with how often she'd called him during school hours.

Though, if he'd given in to her latest request, perhaps he wouldn't have found himself in the current predicament of hiding in his kitchen.

He wasn't so sure his mother hadn't had a hand in it, but it was more likely this was all due to his brother's interference. He'd had one too many drinks after they'd all managed to escape the devastation of the Second World War and let it slip that he'd found his brother's miko fascinating.

Fascinating. That was all he'd said, but his brother had never let it go, needling him for information and a timeline as to why he'd come to that conclusion.

And now she was asleep on his couch.
