Cleveland: The Ransom Note Mix by The Ransom Note

There are few labels as widely admired as John Talabot's Hivern Discs which operates out of the Catalan capital, Barcelona. This year the label will feature a newly signed artist and it comes in the form of Cleveland. Originating from Luxembourg and now based in Brussels Andrea Mancini finds himself very much aligned musically with his Spanish counterparts from Hivern Discs. His moody, emotive take on club music has led to the support for his sound from the likes of Oskar Offermann. His new release has been tried and tested on dancefloors around the world for months, as is often the way with a new release on Hivern Discs. Nothing is left to chance. He steps up to take us on a tour of his sound in the present.

Ça Va Pas La Tête? by Témé Tan

One thing I like to do when I travel is to carry my little tape recorder and catch sounds here and there. While in Kinshasa, I recorded kids singing in a street near a church. They did not sing in French but I could almost hear as if they were chanting "Ça Va Pas La Tête?" meaning "Are You Out Of Your Mind?". I later developed the song around those samples in Guinea Conakry. The guitars and bass were recorded on a very cheap amplifier my dad once bought in a supermarket back in the 80's.
