## —— YILDIZ, ELA.
“BUT IT’S DOC,” she says like it’s self-explanatory, which it is, but she’ll explain either way. “He was one of the kindest, most loved people in town.” She sighs. It doesn’t go unnoticed by her how he doesn’t look upset or distraught, which she thinks is weird, but people grieve differently, right? There’s a pause at his words, and she’s not focused on the words themselves, but on his tone of voice — it sounded dark and ominous. “Yes, Bigby, the world is full of cruel people, but this is Woodvale. It’s always been safe. Did you ever expect there would be murderers here when you first moved here?” Her brows furrow. “Do you think there’s more to it?” Which would explain his tone… right?
because she needs to have everything explained like she’s five. ❛ someone didn’t love him. ❜ he shouldn’t have to spell it out like this, how annoying. makes him roll his eyes. no matter who the guy is, someone had it out for him. too bad, shit happens, move on. quite truthfully, he’s way more fucking concerned by the fact they apparently cannot leave this town. he doesn’t care for one dead guy. scoffs, getting more and more annoyed at the painful innocence she speaks with. ❛ it’s a small town, so obviously not, ela. ❜ false, as he had been one moving into town. now, he didn’t think there would be more. ❛ they haven’t been caught, so they might do it again. might not. stay careful, is what i think. ❜ he couldn’t care less about her safety. ❛ it’s not a safe town anymore. and we can’t get out. ❜

how did doc die?
you see , i’m betting someone pushed him off . there’s no way that someone runs so often and just accidentally falls off . i’m thinking he ran into a no-good-nobody , so we should go ask ‘round the west side of town , no ? everyone knows they’re just a bunch of losers who can barely keep up with civility . i also want to point my finger at ( @wclflord ) , because everyone knows a man like that is never up to something good .

❛ bigby . . . tell me it isn’t true. ❜ a town with too many secrets, too many horrors lurking just beneath the surface. she knows all too well the darkness that lingers. ❛ i don’t . . . i don’t understand why anyone would want to hurt him. ❜ / @wclflord
he wishes he could. not because doc’s death affects him in any way, it doesn’t. but she sounds shaken, for lack of better words. ❛ i'm not lying to you. ❜ bigby doesn’t really know how to give out warmth and reassurance, but he does keep a calm voice. ❛ it’s a small town, they’ll find who did it and why. don’t worry, kid. ❜ and if they don’t, he’ll make damn sure nothing happens to her.

## —— DEMIR, ADRIAN.
ADRIAN STANDS UP A LITTLE STRAIGHTER AT THE SIGHT OF WOLF, lips curling into a displeased expression. why yes, actually, he was still pissed at how much he had lost from the last game of cards. but it’s not his fault that his head hadn’t been in it, after hearing about doc’s passing. “ not the game, just people being imbeciles, ” he says stiffly, shaking his head. “ it hardly matters now. ” not a no. “ i’m sure my father will name a wing of the hospital after him, or something equally bloody ridiculous. ”
that sounds like a lame ass excuse to him. something nothing short of predictable from adrian, sad to admit. ❛ they always are, you should know better than to expect anything less from the townsfolk. ❜ letting other people dictate your mood isn’t how you control a situation, better block anyone irrelevant out. scoffs, following suit in the shake of his head. ❛ do you want him to be remembered or not ? ❜ nothing pleases that man. ❛ brace yourself, you won’t be the only one present at the funeral. surely won’t be alone at his grave for the following month, either. ❜

@wclflord
“I’VE NEVER SEEN THE TOWN SO GRIM,” Ela says, her own tone and expression grim. “I mean, it’s understandable why it’s so grim, Doc died.” It’s like the more she says it, the more she’ll believe it. Except that’s not happening. She’s still finding it hard to wrap her head around everything. “It’s just, I never thought we’d have a murderer in town.”
he has, but he hangs out around the parts of town she doesn’t. he understands the point she’s trying to bring up, doesn’t understand however why she thinks he cares. ❛ when you know that many people, enemies can occur, not just friends. ❜ who knows what doc was up to in his after hours. but after all, it doesn’t take much to cross the wrong person at the wrong time. ask feriha. ❛ cruel world means cruel people, ela. better believe it quickly. ❜ his tone reads ‘ or it could happen to you next ’. it sounded way too threatening.

## —— DEMIR, ADRIAN.
“ I’M ALREADY TIRED OF PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT DOC LIKE THEY BLOODY KNEW HIM, ” adrian snips. yes, he was beloved in town, and yes, it was sad to see he passed. but the amount of crying women he passed on the street today, honestly… it made him not even want to mourn the man himself, despite him being like an uncle figure to the demir family. “ save it for the memorial service, or mourn in your own bloody homes. honestly. ” @folkloremstart
❛ i see the last game you lost got you on edge, demir. ❜ he looks way too riled up for it to be simply about the passing of an old man. again, bigby barely knew the guy. the name and the face, sure, it’s a small town and he’s met the doctor once or twice. disguises his disinterest as his stoic attitude. maybe he should act troubled by murder, but once you commit the act, hearing about it is quite unexciting. gives his ex employee a beer, on the house. ❛ you knew the man well ? ❜

## —— LAI, ROSA.
he really gets on her nerves , she unsure when he learned her just as well as she learned him ; and then she has to wonder , how much about her has he pinned down ? she has no FAMILY , so that’s not a worry - but still , the woman is adored among her friends , even at her job , which means there are still people around who care for her - and vice versa . ‘ probably because you’re not as skilled in betting as i am - ’ she shoots back , voice sharp and pointed , only to be softened once a drink is placed in her hand . ‘ not a fan of taking risks , bigby ? that’s almost sad . there’s no fun in that . ’ and she knows him as well , even if her insults are lacking for tonight ; for he’s noticed it , how exhausted she is . ‘ you’re lucky you’re right , bigby . trying to catch you isn’t my only priority - sorry if you thought you were special - ’ and she takes the glass and drinks for a few seconds , thinking she’ll have to be drunk if she’s going to be civil with him .
❛ not a fan of needlessly stupid risks. you’re smarter than that. ❜ she wouldn’t blindly jump into a failing gamble, shouldn’t expect him to do just that, either. it’s way more fun to navigate around extremely narrow edges than run through a minefield. for the first time tonight, he’ll fight back a satisfaction grin. he’s right, it’s music to his ears. but she’s tired, which means she’s not at her best, and that’s a real bummer. going easy isn’t like him, nor is it like her. so they’ll have to call it quit soon. ❛ you’re wasting your time, rosa. ❜ he won’t stop trying to discourage her from sticking her nose in his business, though. ❛ you’re tiring yourself out on the wrong target. ❜ lies come to him as easy as the pour of double rye in his own glass, burn of the liquor down his throat nothing compare to the trail his gaze leaves on her. ❛ face it, this chase is pointless, you have nothing. it would be better for everyone if you finally let it go, what do you say. ❜ clinks his glass to hers, his arrogance still bigger than his ego.

## —— DELMONTE, WENDY.
there’s a faint uptick in the curve of her mouth, a subtle twitch of a smile. in truth, she didn’t think that he would show. it doesn’t seem like his scene, with the hustle & bustle of a town high on . . . something far too innocuous for the owner of a nightclub. wendy even wonders if the club is open or if it shuttered its doors for the day, encouraging its patrons to take advantage of the festivities. ❛ purple ? that’s one of my favorite colors. ❜ she takes the flower gingerly between two fingers, gentle in her examination. it’s beautiful, delicate. ❛ i’m hiding from alice & snow, to be honest. i didn’t sleep well last night & as selfish as it is, if i have to listen to another play - by - play from al about adrian leaving the toilet seat up, i might combust before they crown the midsummer monarch, & i really want to win. ❜ it’s a long - winded explanation he didn’t ask for ; she offers a grimace, smile falling from her features. talk about an overshare ! ❛ are you going to make a wreath ? i’ll help. ❜
❛ that’s why i picked it. ❜ wanted to give her something she would find beautiful, so what best than something that reflected her. can’t help the sigh, because there’s always something on her shoulders she shouldn’t have to carry. ❛ it’s not selfish. you don’t want them to ruin your day, it’s fair. ❜ he’s selfish. wendy is nothing like him. she doesn’t see him glancing over the town council gathered a bit everywhere around the grounds, adding at the top of his todo list to pay them a little visit later. she wants to win, he’ll be damned if he doesn’t try to help. ❛ and have you gloating about how yours is prettier ? i’ll pass. ❜ he’s not going to do much more today than take a drink and grab a bite as far as participation goes. no crafting, no dancing. instead, he’ll spectate, hawk eye over the young girl to make sure no one is bothering or clouding her day. still, he is a man of tradition in his own way, not looking to disrespect woodvale’s. he has light colored clothing on, that should count for something. her first words still ring his ears, leaning forward to try and catch her gaze. ❛ what’s troubling your nights, wendy ? ❜ she said she didn’t sleep well, not the first time she’s mentioned it, either.

he’s not one to actively participate in the festivities. only being there is more than enough to act like a model citizen. and it surprises a few when he walks to the wreath making table. ❛ here. ❜ even more surprising that he’d picked a vibrant purple wildflower on his way there, offering it to wendy for her creation before taking place on the vacant chair next to her. ❛ having fun ? ❜ / @goldenae

## —— BISHOP, HENRI.
GOOD LOOKS AND SMART MOUTH ASIDE, bigby is hardly the first man to hit on henri in her place of work. having worked here since she started as a hostess at the young age of sixteen, she’s seem quite a few decent and indecent proposals sent in her direction in her lifetime, each time making it easier and easier to ignore. the only reason he’s getting such a reaction out of her tonight is the knowledge that unlike all of the other patrons, he HAS seen her without her clothes on, which is why his gaze feels extra heavy as it lingers on her. other than that, she can’t help but roll her eyes at his bullshit offer to join him, as if she’s going to spend her forty-five minute break watching him wolf down multiple burgers. her pen taps lightly against the pad of paper, shaking her head. “ as fun as that sounds, ” her tone is dry, “ i’m on the clock. ” something she assumed he had been, too, when they had hooked up at the club. it appears only one of them cares about the sanctity of work hours. she will stick around to see if he actually eats all three burgers, though. his question does manage to surprise her, a startled laugh escaping her lips. “ you should make ? ” she echoes his words, thinking he’s pretty smug for a bouncer. “ no, that’s okay. i’m not much of a… clubber. the whole seedy club thing just isn’t for me. ” although it suits him well, she thinks.
❛ i won’t tell your boss. and i tip well. ❜ money has never been an issue, and it surely never will be. could pay up a whole year of what she’s probably earning and it wouldn’t make a dent in his own pocket. but he’s not pushing because he genuinely wants her to stay, he’s only doing so because it also means it’s her buttons that he’s pressing. his first priority is to eat to calm down his starving stomach. everything else is just extra he can most definitely do without. the incredulity in her voice does paint some on his own features, doesn’t exactly understand what seems so unbelievable in him making changes to his own club. sure, he won’t be the one manually doing anything, but he has the authority. leans over the table, crossed arms resting on top of it with a sustained stare still on her. ❛ who else if not me ? ❜ does this girl even know who he is ? thinking about it, probably not, or she maybe wouldn’t have been so eager last time. and he doesn’t reply right away when she classifies his club as seedy, only lets the corner of his mouth curl in an impressed grin. there’s maybe two other people that would dare being so frank with him, so he should give her some credit. ❛ you don’t need to tell me that, angel. it’s painfully obvious you’re more of a stay at home girl. ❜ how she handles herself right now is telling that she’s not just not a clubber, but not a hookup person, either.

## —— YILDIZ, ELA.
“IF YOU’RE EVER THERE AND NEED SOME COMPANY, LET ME KNOW,” she offers, bright smile and all. In her not so biased opinion, the South is the nicest area in Woodsvale. From a young age, she enjoyed discovering it, and till today, she still finds new locations there. It’s full of hidden gems. “Well, I don’t mean here, I just mean in general. Baking isn’t very easy, you know. I’ve been trying it out — it’s very fun, though!” Another thing he probably doesn’t care about, but he’ll have to hear, unfortunately for him. “You don’t open, but you do work in the middle of the day, don’t you?” She quirks an eyebrow. She bets they have some paperwork and documentation to do, stuff related to running a big club like that. “Not this week. It’s unfortunately one of these tough weeks in research, but that’s alright.”
❛ don’t worry, i will. ❜ it’s not totally healthy, definitely not in her best intentions. but it brings him joy, to see her so blissfully unaware, why deny himself a little pleasure. he won’t be able to spend more than an hour with her talking his ears off, but he doesn’t much care about cutting time short. that is, if he actually shows up in the south. ❛ multitalented ela, is there something you can’t do. ❜ he’s not looking for an answer, so it’s not a question. sighs in response, gives a glare towards a bakery’s worker as a way to speed up his order before giving some attention back to the young girl. ❛ a little. but i have other people around. they do most of it, i supervise. ❜ safe to say he doesn’t allow incompetent people near him, so he can leave in the middle of the day to take care of other business. ❛ maybe you’re not looking at the right angle. ❜

## —— BISHOP, HENRI.
THE ORDER MAKES HENRI BLINK IN SURPRISE, before he can even get to the offensive part. “ are you waiting on any friends ? ” she asks him, because surely he won’t be able to eat three double burgers all on his own. however the comment, flourished with a wink, is enough to make her forget about it all together, clutching the pen in her hand a little tighter. she’s determined not to give him a reaction, even if her body’s betraying her by the flush of her cheeks, choosing to tuck her chin into her chest as she works hard writing down his order. it’s not until he says her name that she looks up, surprised he knew her name. it won’t be until much later that she’ll realize it was probably because of the name tag. biting the inside of her cheek, henri gives him a look. “ i don’t make it a habit to go there, if i can help it. no offense to your place of work. ” god, she can’t believe she hooked up with a bouncer.
he doesn’t have friends, doesn’t do them. the idea that he’s waiting for any of them is certainly amusing. but who needs friendships when you can make your own entertainment. he can tell, that she’s not exactly comfortable, that he pushes the right buttons without too much efforts. so of course, he goes on. ❛ no, interested in joining me ? ❜ his eyes trail up the grip of her fingers to the blush of her cheeks, eyes ready to catch hers when she’ll finally look back at him. there’s nothing really genuine about his offer, the only truth he’s spoken so far was about the state of his hunger. he’ll have fun either way. ❛ it’s no offense, it’s not for everyone. ❜ he knows the club is not everyone’s favorite, and that’s fine by him. would much rather know his usual than have the place crawling with people unable to handle a few of the extracurriculars happening in bathrooms. ❛ any changes i should make to improve it ? ❜ he’s no customer service, but he’s curious as to what isn’t her taste.

“THE SOUTH IS THE BEST PLACE FOR THAT SORT OF THING. You know, with the gardens and the different fruits and vegetable farms. It’s pretty quaint,” she says. She loves the South and will take any opportunity to talk about it. “It’s nearby the biggest vineyard, you can’t miss it.” She pauses, not because there’s nothing more to say, but because she’s once again looking at the display of desserts. “I would reckon anything baked wrong is not good. It has to be just right.” She raises her forefinger in emphasis. “The chocolate chip cookies are great here. Oh, nonsense! I have a lot of work to do, so I figured a little break isn’t all that bad. Did Cosmic bore you?”
❛ hm. maybe i’ll have to visit you more often. ❜ there’s a beautiful thing about old fashioned aesthetics even he isn’t all the immune to. he is a sucker for tradition and history, something that part of town could provide him with if he made time for it. time ; such a wild thing he seems to be lacking and having too much of all at once. ❛ it’s a bakery, everything should be baked right. ❜ common sense to him. if you’re to do something, do it right. ❛ we don’t open in the middle of the day, ela. ❜ and paperwork absolutely does bore him. that’s what employees are for, anyway. and contracts being handed out, too. the work does itself for bigby. ❛ any finds lately ? ❜ would love to know where she’s putting her nose into these days.

## —— LAI, ROSA.
she can be petty and cruel when it comes to her job , and even worse when he keeps her on her fuckin’ toes all the damn time . she HATES it , hates him , for he’s the only one who truly knows how to get under her skin on the second their eyes meet . lips threaten to hold an ever present frown , but she should know better than to give into him . instead she takes a big breath , chest heaving as she does so , before she lets her eyes rest in the deep browns of his . if he wanted a staring contest , he would get it . ‘ you wouldn’t be able to keep up - ’ she drawls out , eventually leaning back ( but still keeping eye contact ) and bringing her glass up to her lips . she’ll take her time finishing it , crosses her legs in front of him , wants him to know that she too , could do all this night . ‘ and you can start writing your speech , on the off chance you do gain victory , by buying me another drink - no ? ’ she’ll wiggle her glass , the ice cubes clinking as she does so , because if he’s going to be a pain in her ass - the least he could do was buy her something to help sleep at night . ‘ they’re right where they’re supposed to be . ’ a little white lie , because he knows that she knows that he knows that she still has yet to catch him in action . god , she doesn’t even know how long this game has been going . ‘ why , you have a slip up waiting for me outside ? ’
she tries to put distance, and it’s where he closes it. first by it being his turn to lean in, only so his arm can reach the leg of her chair, pulling hers slowly towards his. he won’t give her an inch, won’t let her think that she has anywhere to retreat. if he could move it, his gaze would draw to her neck, show that he has her jugular in his sight. one he could so easily have his newfound fangs dig into if she’s not careful. but for now, that’s an ace he keeps in his sleeve. for now, he’s focused into her eyes. ❛ i wouldn’t bet against me. ❜ she warned him to not give her tips, but she’s so painfully in need of help. a calculated risk, he’s aware. bigby scoffs, debates if the hospitable act if worth it. he likes that this is finally going somewhere, and his schedule is still free for an hour. takes her glass and gets on his feet, decides to leave her the stare - off victory as he takes himself on the other side of the counter. he’s not buying, he’s making and taking. ❛ i have nothing for you, miss lai, simply because there is nothing to give. ❜ he’s not stupid, she could well be taped - up. ❛ simply curious about your investigations. they seem to be exhausting you tonight. it’s worrisome. ❜ smirks, hands steady against the countertop after giving her a full glass back.

ELA TURNS BACK TO THE DISPLAY TO LOOK AT THE RECOMMENDED BLACKBERRY PIE BAR, nodding back at him. “I like blackberries, and it looks really delicious. There’s this massive blackberry field not too far from where I live. In the South, I mean. It’s a nice place to take a walk in or have a picnic,” she states, already going off on a tangent. She’s self aware enough to know she talks way too much, but she also doesn’t care enough to do anything about it. “I’m not a big fan of lemons, to be honest. I like its smell, not its taste — it’s too sour. Are you getting the blackberry pie bar, too?”
there’s a lot of words for virtually nothing, his head is going to be throbbing in a minute. ❛ is there, now. how do you get to it ? ❜ he doesn’t wander a lot in the southern part of town, much more preoccupied by the north and the west. that side has always been irrelevant to him, no business to be had there. if he can get some updates on the layout, however, he won’t say no. ❛ it’s not for everyone, especially went baked wrong. ❜ nods at her question, otherwise he wouldn’t have suggested it. ❛ yes, and two chocolate chip cookies. ❜ wendy likes those. ❛ the museum finally bored you, i see. ❜ it’s an odd hour for her to be out.

## —— BISHOP, HENRI.
@wclflord
SHE RECOGNIZES HIM AS SOON AS HE WALKS IN. henri had been hoping that wouldn’t happen, both running into him and being able to recognize him. of course she’s recognize him ; she hadn’t been THAT drunk when they had hooked up, just enough alcohol in her system to think it was a good choice. but she had regretted it the next day, and she regretted it now, especially as he took a seat in her section of the restaurant. eyes glance around wildly to see if she can find a waitress to take his order ( surely being the manager must have some perks ) , but it had been a pretty busy day at the restaurant, which was why she was taking orders to begin with. pull yourself together, henri. you’re an adult. taking a deep breath, she grabs her pen and pad and trudges her way over to his booth. henri’s not exactly sure what would be worse : him recognizing her or not. “ hey, ” she offers him a tentative smile, body already feeling a little warm. in her defense, it was the first and last time she had ever had a one night stand — sue her. “ what can i get you ? ”
the diner isn’t his usual scene. but today, his stomach had been growling for something substantial, greasy and meaty. there’s a direct connection to be made over the state of his appetite and the ridiculous amount of hours he’d just spent in the forest. this whole . . wolf thing is extremely hard to control. but he’s also extremely stubborn once he puts his mind to something. training comes with its fair share of exhaustion and hunger. he even looks a bit roughed up, atypical. quick to get his hand on a menu, attention on the letters and not on the server showing up. ❛ three of your house burgers, double. side of fries and a chocolate shake. ❜ puts it down, finally granting some of his focus at the girl, the side of his mouth curling in a knowing grin. ❛ or would you recommend vanilla instead ? ❜ the wink is unnecessary to everyone else, but grandly amusing to him. he never forgets a face, no matter how bright or dim the lights can be. ❛ hello, henri. ❜ that, he got from the nametag of her uniform, didn’t bother to ask the first time. ❛ haven’t seen you around the club lately. ❜ he knows what he’s doing.
