Cool Study Spots In and Around Boston
By: Jillian Korkutis - First featured on HerCampus.com
Endless to-do list? Sick of O’Neill? When you have 3 exams next week and can’t stand one more minute in O’Neill, that’s the perfect time to take advantage of BC’s awesome surroundings. Boston has some of the best (and most beautiful) study spots that we often forget to explore. Afraid to navigate the city alone? Grab a friend, grab your books, and check out these awesome study spots in and around Boston!
For my fellow cafe dwellers:
Pavement Coffeehouse
Tumblr media
Pavement has six locations that are all extremely accessible by the T. The closest location is their Allston shop (pictured above), which is right off of the B line at the Harvard Ave. stop. They also have a shop near Fenway! Each of their locations has different vibes, I’ve found. There’s one on Gainsborough Street- right off the Avenue of the Arts, near Northeastern- that has a homey/artistic feel (it’s my personal favorite). Great coffee and even better bagels!
Thinking Cup
Tumblr media
This award-winning cafe has three great locations in the Boston area, including one right on the edge of Boston Common. Instead of raving about their dreamy hot chocolate or urging you to taste their amazing breakfast sandwiches, I’ll just positively insist that you visit one of these awesome cafes!
Fuel
Tumblr media
Known and loved by many Eagles, Fuel is close both in distance and in my heart. Offering what may very well be the best cold brew in the world, Fuel has a great menu and a great atmosphere. Less than a five-minute walk from 2000, this cafe is perfect when you’re pressed for time and low on caffeine.
If cafes aren’t your thing:
Boston Public Library
Tumblr media
Look familiar? Trust me: the BPL has a lot more to offer than this Bapst look-alike study room. If you’ve never ventured to this historic and amazing library, do it soon! It’s directly off the Green Line at the Copley stop. It’s a hop, skip, and a jump from the entrance of the John Hancock building and the inside looks like something out of Rome. Although it is the perfect environment for working and learning, be warned that the beauty of it can make it difficult to focus! The courtyard within the BPL is a particularly beautiful spot.
Boston Common
Tumblr media
If you like a constant buzz of people and lots of grass, Boston Common is the place for you. It’s surrounded by plenty of food and coffee shops and is located directly off the Green Line at either Park St. or Boylston (that’s how big it is)! Even if you don’t need to study, the Common is a great place to hang out!
Harvard Yard
Tumblr media
Why you wouldn’t take advantage of BC’s own beloved grass is a mystery, but some people just need to get away sometimes! Harvard Yard is the best place to go to stay motivated and avoid running into anyone you know.
*DISCLAIMER: You can’t actually park your car on Harvard Yard, but the Harvard Square T stop is super close by!
Boston and the surrounding areas have so much to offer so don’t miss out! Find your favorite study spots and visit them every now and then. It’s a nice treat to get off campus and you can explore during study breaks. Happy studying!
