preacher’s daughter †
a haunting tale of intergenerational religious trauma carried over three generations. preacher’s daughter centers around the last of the cain bloodline— ethel lenora cain.
Tumblr media
(CHARACTERS)
the cain family
ethel lenora cain • ethel is the main focus of preacher’s daughter, as we follow alongside her tragic, short life. she is described as having an almost ghostly, and haunting look: long, straight brown hair framing her sunken cheeks, green eyes that appear empty, almost unreal, and a very basic and skinny, dull appearance. (fancast by hayden— sarah hagan)
joseph cain • a preacher at shady grove baptist church and father to ethel cain. joseph is described as a handsome man, mentioned in the article “thoughts and prayers for ethel cain”, written by silken weinberg, featured in teeth magazine.
vera cain • ethel’s mother, a very religious woman which causes tension between the mother and daughter, arguing over their religion and beliefs due to ethel’s rebellion. vera is described as well put together (even after her husbands death), blue eyes and brown hair, which is frequently seen pinned up, matching her modest and christian look. (fancast by hayden— karen grassle)
ethel cain sr. • very little has been revealed about the appearance, personality, and life of ethel cains paternal grandmother. there is speculation she is the founder of the cult “daughters of cain”, (mentioned in preacher’s daughter : ptolemaea). however, as stated, very little is known about ethel cain sr. or the supposed “daughters of cain” cult. (fancast by hayden— susan sarandon)
Tumblr media
relationships
willoughby tucker • ethel cains first love, whom she met in eighth grade, where they quickly became bonded due to similar, traumatic upbringings. the two became so attached, they agreed on a death pact at such a young age, (mentioned in willoughby tucker, i’ll always love you : dust bowl). though it is a complicated, romanticized relationship, they are both very much in love, though it is possibly because they are only in love with the idea of each other. hayden describes tucker as scrawny and short, blond, sort of twink-ish, until he later somewhat grows into his physique as he ages. (fancast by hayden— cal robertson)
logan harvey phelps • ethel’s second boyfriend, though it is a quick relationship. a no good criminal who does not hesitate to get cain involved in his antics (robbery, bar fights, drug use, etc.) he is violent and unstable, which is most of what’s known about him. his appearance is unclear, never specified.
isaiah abram • the epitome of evil, (though charming at the beginning). taking advantage of the poor girl on the run; a fugitive from the law after her past relationship, which eventually leads to the murder of ethel cain, committed by isaiah. standing at a tall 6’2”, he has blue eyes and blond hair. (fancast by hayden— jacob pitts)
Tumblr media
classmates
janie • ethel’s best (and only) friend, though the two unfortunately drift apart in high school as janie begins to date her new boyfriend. she is described as a short and think black girl, with dark brown eyes and black-ish, brown curly hair. (fancast by hayden— keke palmer)
holly reddick • a sixteen year-old, misunderstood and misjudged girl. horrible rumours spread about her (including prostitution), they are not true. holly is just a young and confident girl who knows what she wants, and how to get it. which later leads to years of jealousy and slight resentment from her classmate ethel. reddick is everything cain is not, and envy consumes ethel. she is described as beautiful, with amber/honey eyes and blonde hair, red nails and high heels.
Tumblr media
shady grove community
millicent dressure • victim one in the shady grove tornado. mother of three and a grandmother to sixteen, was impaled in her home by a maple limb.
mr. arnold leighton • victim two of the tornado, found inside the feed store crushed by the caved in ceiling. he died alone, how he liked it.
john doe • the third body found due to the storm, found flung out into a field with his face smashed in.
Tumblr media
journalists
kelsey gibson • reporter for the article “preacher’s daughter gone wild”, for the march 17th, 1991 issue of the madison herald newspaper.
tommy-lee salt • wrote the article titled “cicada storm engulfs small town”, for the march 17th, 1991 issue of the madison herald newspaper.
silken weinberg • interviewed ethel in “thoughts and prayers for ethel cain”, featured in teeth magazine.
Tumblr media
other
isaiah’s mother • only mentioned once, in isaiah’s letter: “dear mama, i am sorry for what i did to her, but i did it for you. i love you mama. your son, isaiah.”

extremely underrated subgenre of tumblr post: when someone makes a general statement about something, and another person offers a counter-statement that's just completely nonsensical, and the OP just agrees instantly even if it makes no sense at all

theo van gogh was the one who suggested that his older brother vincent start seriously painting. as soon as theo was gainfully employed he gave vincent around 15% of his own yearly salary for art supplies, lodging, and food. about 2/3rds of vincent's surviving letters were to theo (including vincent's earliest and last letters), all of which were found stored in theo's desk. theo's child, vincent willem, was born on january 31st, 1890, and vincent was so delighted by his nephew that he painted almond blossoms for him. vincent shot himself half a year later on july 29th, 1890. theo's distress at his brother's death worsened his syphilis symptoms and he died half a year after his brother on january 25th, 1891 (four days before vincent willem's first birthday). theo was reburied next to vincent in auvers-sur-oise at the request of theo's wife johanna.

I honestly think that crying over a book is one of the most prominent sign of compassion for humanity. You’re crying over someone who isn’t really there, doesn’t really exist, but you still feel for them as if you have known them your entire life.

The Most Interesting Man In The World.
That's Peter Freuchen and his wife Dagmar Freuchen-Gale, in a photo taken by Irving Penn (1947). Freuchen is a top candidate for the Most Interesting Man in the World. Standing six feet seven inches, Freuchen was an arctic explorer, journalist, author, and anthropologist. He participated in several arctic journeys (including a 1000-mile dogsled trip across Greenland), starred in an Oscar-winning film, wrote more than a dozen books (novels and nonfiction, including his Famous Book of the Eskimos), had a peg leg (he lost his leg to frostbite in 1926; he amputated his gangrenous toes himself), was involved in the Danish resistance against Germany, was imprisoned and sentenced to death by the Nazis before escaping to Sweden, studied to be a doctor at university, his first wife was Inuit and his second was a Danish margarine heiress, became friends with Jean Harlow and Mae West, once escaped from a blizzard shelter by cutting his way out of it with a knife fashioned from his own feces, and, last but certainly not least, won $64,000 on The $64,000 Question.

The problem with the guys remember eat the rich only includes the 1% dont go after the middle class in our violent revolution they aren’t the problem is that in your violent revolution no one is actually going to be logically thinking and making any sort of distinction. They would just kill people who they perceive as rich, have you not read anything about the revolution s you idealize
