More Draculaura!

I’m probably missing a release or two, but here are my unnecessary takes on the playline Draculaura dolls that have come out in the past year or will be coming out soon:

Skulltimate Secrets series 3: Neon Frights

The main thing this doll has going for her is how unique she is. She almost doesn’t look like Draculaura to me and I have mixed feelings about that. Overall my favorite peices that come with this set are the white platform Mary-Jane shoes and the lil laptop. The neon green accents are. Uh. Unexpected?

I feel weird writing this because when I first saw this doll I really didn’t like her but the more I look at the set the more I feel it. Idk.

Also maybe I’m just stupid but I’m kind of confused what the overall concept is behind this series is? Am I stupid?? What are the belt thingies that all of the dolls come with???

2023 Budget Draculaura

Fighting down my instinct to be snobby about budget line dolls, I actually quite like her. I think it’s interesting: overall I feel like a lot of these more recent Draculaura releases go for less of a cutesy-girly-kawaii look and more for an elegant/mature look? Maybe it’s that she doesn’t have the color block hair as often? My main issue with the design of this doll is that the cutesy print on the dress doesn’t seem to match the more mature vibe of the rest of the doll’s style. Also I feel like I *should* like the stupid little lips purse but it doesn’t quite do it for me.

My favorite elements of this doll are her sandals and her darker lip color. Overall she’s kinda fun and different though. I don’t think I’d buy this doll full price, but if I found her on clearance sometime I’d happily add her to my collection.

Scare-adice Island Draculaura

I like her a lot actually. I have mixed feelings about beach/swimsuit doll lines, but I can’t be mad about this Draculaura (not even her goofy hat with the bat cutouts XD). Lookit her serving looks and drinking her virgin cocktail:

Okay I don’t love her bikini, but I just like her overall vibe. The shoes are lovely. The bag is charming. The sunburst-cobweb earrings are very fun and pretty. I want those sunglasses for myself.

I think this is another doll that gives more older vibes? The intense side part gives strong millennial vibes to me; she doesn’t feel like a teenager here to me and if she is she’s an awkward homeschooler who’s unabashedly wearing fashions that were normal a decade ago because that’s what the fashion examples in her life are wearing. Like. She looks very good and pretty and respectable. Just not trendy? Which is confusing to me in a fashion doll line. (Or are side parts coming back and I’m just not in the loop???)

Also I appreciate that they upped her SPF from 500 to 5000 since she’s actually going to be in the sun XD

Overall she has good vibes though. I want to go to the beach on Scaradise Island with her.

Faboolous Pets Beasties at the Maul

This one I wasn’t totally sure if she fit here because she technically only comes in a two pack with Clawdeen. She has good classic Draculaura vibes with a twist though and I appreciate that.

For once I can give or take her shoes, but I like the rest of her outfit. Her shirt is very fun and cozy looking. To me the shirt is also a better execution of mixing the mature style a lot of these new releases have with the cutesy aesthetic we’ve gotten used to in this Draculaura. The purse is silly but cute. I love her hair/headband. I like this Draculaura quite a bit better with bangs and the bow on her head is just delightful.

Goblin me just wants every single Draculaura doll that has come out since the reboot. I want to line them all up on a shelf. They would be so perfect.

These two are the most optional:

I originally turned my nose up at the “day out” (budget line) doll, but decided she does have some cute unique things she comes with. I particularly like her chunky heels. “Gore-ganizer” Draculaura is a funny case because at first I didn’t even realize she’s from the reboot (the mixed hair threw me off). Looking closer though, she does have the adorable curvy reboot body so it seems fair to add her to the list. I want to use her coffin box to store nicknacks and I really dig the lil kawaii stickers she has on her face.

Creepover Drac didn’t originally catch my eye (my favorite from this line is def Twyla) but if I’m making a shelf with every version of her (that can be bought individually) pajamas Draculaura makes a fun change of pace from the others:

They make zero sense to sleep in but the lil space buns are heckin cute.

Most importantly:

These are the most classic and so far my first two choices:

Basic reboot Draculaura. So darling. She is my gender. I want her shoes.

“Skulltimate Secrets” has A: fantastic packaging and marketing and (more importantly) B: just really darling design in Draculaura’s clothes and accessories. Love the hat. Love both pairs of shoes. Love the puffy bolero. All just so lovely and darling.

Lastly, there are a couple Draculauras that aren’t released yet:

“Skulltimate Secrets” series 2/“FEARidecent Edition”. Kind of have mixed feelings about this one tbh. From the pics I’ve seen so far I don’t love the ombré pink-white boots and I feel like the iridescent skirt is a weird color for her? I also kinda miss the color block hair. That said at least half of the the clothing and accessory pieces are really knockouts for me. Love the stole. Love the black blouse and black and pink skirt. The wristlet handbag is darling. Also I love the design of the coffin locker better on this one. All in all I feel like this doll goes out on some limbs design-wise which worked better in some ways than others, but overall I enjoy and respect how unique she is compared to the other Draculaura dolls in the reboot.
