Goals For 2021
Every year I write a blog post about my goals for the year but I won’t pretend this year’s post is the same. I mean how the hell do I create realistic goals knowing what 2020 was and what 2021 inherits?! Pandemic, drastic political churn, social unrest…and none of that is related to my profession or this blog. Pantone Color of the Year 2021
It’s that time again: the self-fulfilling prophecy that is the Pantone Color of the Year has been announced for 2021.
For 2021, we’re getting two colors of the year. The colors selected to grace museum gift shops, and end-of-year blog posts are Ultimate Gray (a mid-range gray somewhere around #939597) and Illuminating (a citrus yellow that’s approximately #F5DF4D).
A marriage of color conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting.
The last time Pantone selected two colors was Rose Quartz & Serenity in 2016, and we all know what a tranquil, serene year that was; so 2021 will presumably unleash the curse of an ancient mummy on the world, or see us collide with the Sun.

2020 Year in Review
Looking back on an entire year of one’s professional life is difficult, but when you consider everything that 2020 threw at us, where the hell do you even start? Forget just surviving the professional aspect of 2020, we all deserve a medal, both literally and figuratively, for surviving it. Nonetheless, as is tradition on this blog, I’d like to review the goals I set forth for this year; you know, celebrate my successes and make excuses for the goals I missed.
The obvious consideration that goes into the goal review is that I was laid off by Mozilla after 8+ years. Losing your job has a way of disrupting career goals, but at the same time, provides opportunities to succeed in other areas.

Mission accomplished! Despite having been laid off just a week or two before Fenix launched, I do feel as though I made the most of the opportunity.
