gotta say I am a huge sucker for how Adventure Time will sometimes just cut to Princess Bubblegum doing something extremely morally dubious like cutting off a tiny person’s limbs with scissors and then sticking those arms and legs onto another tiny person’s limb stumps but then she'll turn around and go like "Good morning, Finn! Are you ready for a sploinking day?" and whatever atrocities she had just been committing will Never be brought up again.

Hello I'm incredibly new to owning chickens! My family however has been raising chickens since the 70's and are trying to help me out as much as they can.

I don't have any chickens yet but are there any old wives tales I should know aren't true about chickens? Are there things we thought were okay to do back in the day that we now know aren't good? Sorry if you get a lot of questions like this I just wanna be 100% certain I don't hurt my flock lol

Apple Cider Vinegar isnt going to cure your chickens of all ailments ever and can actually negatively impact your hens egg shells

Diatomaceous Earth is not a Dewormer and its not reccomended as one by vets either. You and your chickens breathing it in can cause lung damage.

Feeding your chickens Garlic wont prevent parasites and can negatively impact your birds health and their eggs flavor.

Pumpkin is also not a dewormer but its a good chicken treat.

You cannot feather sex/wing sex random chicks, it only works for specific lines and specific breeds

You cannot determine a chicks sex in the egg by the shape of the egg

Random fairy eggs/fart eggs are good luck actually because i said so. But if your hen is laying alot of them she likely has reproductive issues.

Holding a chick upside down by the feet will not tell you its gender either. Some people believe pullets will hang while cockerels will try to fly back up. This is unnecessary, doesnt work, and can damage the chicks legs.

Egg shell color does not impact how nutritious an egg is

Chickens also do not need a rooster to lay eggs, they will lay eggs regardless if they are fertilized.

You cannot put a chicken into a trance. Anything that seems like it does is just inducing tonic immobility and its very stressful for the bird.

me, to the kids i worked with last week: welcome to medieval camp everyone! can anyone think of any fun medieval activities we might do here at camp this week?

kid: well, they used to do this thing where they would take your body and make it into four pieces and i think it was called quartering.

me: that’s called torture! we will not in fact be participating in torture this week! …anyone else?
