Dont tear the fandom apart please

So apparently so many people right now is talking about otayuri being bad and wrong because yurio is still a minor, especially when otayuri shippers started to sexualize them. I know that some of you guys feel uncomfortable with it but please??? Do you think it makes sense to fight over something so simple and simply crush the fandom just because of some different opinions?

Right now,the fandom are fussing about age issues of Otabek and Yurio from 'The Madness' scene and some of them are starting to leave the fandom, they're starting to hate each other, the way they treat Kubo on Twitter, the antis and angsty people, please don't tear apart OUR FANDOM WE BUILT TOGETHER ! I love this fandom so much MORE THAN I l LOVE MYSELF !

Remember the day we used to praise Kubo sensei and her team for making Yuri on Ice (the hero of 2016), days when we we waited for Wednesday the day every episode of YOI aired, making cracks and memes, crashing Tumblr, Crunchyroll, and other websites, DAYS WHEN WE WERE WAITING OTAYURI BECOME CANON? Can we just live in peace like we ised to?

I know it sounds weird like 'dude it's just a fandom you'll get bored one day and move on to another one'

YES, maybe one day I'd move on or stop joining another fandom but I'm not just going to forget what this fandom has done to me!

This fandom INSPIRED me when I felt my talent will never flourish, this fandom CHEERS me up with its trashy yet funny memes and cracks, I have more friends and senpais who TREATS ME BETTER than I treated myself FROM THE YOI FANDOM! You may hate the fandom but please, there are many amazing, funny, and caring people there.. This fandom is like my second family who cheers me up when I'm feeling down

Remember those time when we were feeling so lucky we are born in this world when yoi is made? So please, don't tear apart our fandom because of that. We have been together for so long, so please.

They could announce Yuri!! On Stage, I mean the real stage play, there on the event. Since it has become a common theme to announce the stage play during the anime event. (Look at BSD, UtaPri, Shingeki no Kyojin, and lots moe, that announced its stage play during the anime event)

they sure as hell better not because I will be 35,000 feet in the air when this event happens and probably deemed a security threat when I start screaming on board the plane.

but then they also announce second seasons at these whole-cast anime events too (see: Free!)

 SO TODAY I was walking to college down a main road, it was really windy (as you might imagine with all the cars) and I was preocupied with keeping a grip on my beanie when I saw these two women walking a little way ahead of me on the other side of the road. One of these ladies was a bit taller than the other and they were holding hands (aww), the taller kinda butch lady had a flannel shirt on (double aww) and her partner/friend was wearing a cute cream and beige hijab. Now I swear to God this is relevant, wait for it.

A massive gust of wind suddenly comes tearing along the main road. I nearly lose my backpack, to give an idea of how bad it was. I look up and see the wind rip off this poor girls hijab and send it spiriling away down the street. (She had an undercap on so no major crisis but still, right.) 

Before. You. Can. Blink. Our taller flannel-wearing girlfriend of the year TEARS off her flannel like lesbian Clark f***** Kent, throws her shirt over her partners head, and BAM she sprints off LIKE A SHOT after the hijab. 

like 10/10, damn son, holy cheesits burrito, that is the very definition of chivalry and romance right there.

How to do “extra” facial expressions!

Drawing basic facial expressions is not the hardest. Most people can draw a sad face, a happy face, angry etc., but making more multidimensional expressions is more of a challenge. I have gotten a lot of compliments on how I draw facial expressions, (specifically “angsty ones”) telling me that they are very dramatic and well… expressive! And there are actually only a few things I think about when I draw faces that take them to the next level, so I thought i’d illustrate them all here!

SUPER IMPORTANT TIP BEFORE WE START: Look at your own face when you draw faces. Even making the face when you are drawing (you don’t even have to look at it), will give you some sense of how the face muscles pull and where things fold and stretch, because you can feel it. You are the best reference when it comes to facial expressions!

Angles 

Draw the head in an angle that matches the expressions you want to make. It is not a requirement, but is going to add to the effect.

Symmetry vs asymmetry 

A face is rarely symmetric. Unless the face the character is making is 100 % relaxed or even dissociating, the eyebrows, mouth and facial muscles will have different placements of their respective side. This image shows the dramatic impact asymmetry has on a face: 

That’s the difference between a smile and a smirk!

The first one’s like “oh yeah?” and the second is like “oH YEAH??”

The “balloon squishing principle”

This is something I did subconsciously, and I didn’t know about until I made this tutorial. And this principle goes hand in hand with an asymmetric face. Basically, if you squish one part of the face, you need to even out the empty space by “inflating” the other part of the face so that it doesn’t appear shrunken. The picture hopefully explains it:

Teeth 

Don’t forget to add the gum when the mouth is open to its full potential!

Squinting and folding

Adding folds around the eyes when a character is squinting makes a HUGE difference. It makes a smile more genuine and a growl more intimidating. Adding folds to the face in general makes your characters more lifelike and ‘visually relatable’. Like, they look human, and less plastic or fake.

and so on..

Pupils and irises 

The placement of the iris and pupil in relation to the eyelids is very important! The less of the white you see, the more relaxed the character is. 

And then of course eyebrows and eyes go hand in hand!

Gestures, spitting, sweating… 

Adding more elements than just a face is key to making the character actually look like they are feeling what you want them to feel. Just the tiniest sweat drop adds to their anxiety, spitting adds frustration to their rage, slouching shoulders, waving hands, a double chin, extreme angles, the list goes on! Add whatever and see what kind of impact it makes! Does it do the trick? Great! Add it! 

Over exaggeration!! 

Remember that you can almost always exaggerate more. Don’t be afraid to do draw “too much” because you’re just experimenting. See what works and what doesn’t. What do you like to exaggerate?

Now that you know some theory, it’s time to practice!

The 25 Essential Expressions (a classic! I’ve done it multiple times)

And the one I do when I’m bored:

Fill a page with circles and fill them in with different expressions. Try and exaggerate as much as you can! 

This is mostly for experimenting. They are quicker to draw than complete faces, but the same rules should apply!
