Saw a post somewhere that I can't find about Dante talking to Carmen and have been thinking about it ever since.

Just. Dante hearing all the thoughts they've put away for the sake of the mission, every single thing that kept them awake at night with only the beating of their heart and the turning of their gears for company. Hearing all that from someone else and not just the facets of their own mind.

Light overpowers darkness in every conventional sense, taking all those shaded worries and bringing them out to be seen, to be heard. Filling up the cracks in their mind, their heart, their conviction, not to insert her own will as Ahab would've, but to get them to understand who and what they truly are.

Dante would try and refuse, of course, all too familiar with distortion and how it twists a person's mind and heart to turn them into a caricature of who they once were. And these thoughts, these feelings weren't new of course, Dante got to know them well despite their best efforts to ignore them.

But over time, they wear down, bit by bit. The things they could never say to others for fear of... what exactly? Rejection? Judgement? Pity? Or maybe even a fear of properly acknowledging them, like they'd lose the will to move forward as soon as they look back at all that had happened.

The sun is something one cannot just ignore, and thus Carmen pushes through each argent Dante presents. 'Wouldn't it be nice to just let go of the responsibilities of a position you never wanted? To be, to find, to live for yourself - rather than being used as a tool by your past or others.'

And slowly, they relent. Its tiring to have carried all this along for however long they have. In the light, where they cannot hear the other sinners calling out to them, its close enough to the isolation they so fear that whatever will they can scrounge up is entirely eclipsed by the dread in the pit of their stomach that tells them that this is their future.

They've been living for the sake of others, in the shadow of someone else. So if they do distort, wouldn't that help them find the core of their own being? Help find what made them Dante, and not just a corpse puppeted by a bough in a clock.

If only for a moment, wouldn't they like to indulge in those thoughts?

Dante is powered by a Golden Bough in their clock. She's always right there...they simply have not gone deeper enough. As the hour of reckoning comes, the closest star, the sun will come too..

guys what if

what if there was an lcorp branch region mod where you get to meet abnormalities that live there and gain ego gear from them for the rest of your run, even gain dialogue from them with the mark of communication with certain abnos, and even find the golden bough as a little easter egg of sorts

basically taking place during limbus company timeline, this lcorp branch was abandoned way much earlier as it touched borders with the city to the outskirts which, quite literally, makes it a borderline taboo with the head (considering going outside or having property in the outskirts is probably a taboo idk, im not caught up on my lore but that's my assumption)

so everything in the facility has been taken over by overgrown nature and wildlife and even corroded to flooding rain that happens every cycle, and you just so happen to find your way into it
