The newest residents of the Muda Kingdom are the Mekabons (sometimes spelt Mekapon), bizarre alien robots that seem to have arrived around the same time as Tatanga. They don’t appear to be under his control, however - they don’t even seem to have control over themselves, as their heads will occasionally depart their bodies for a brief adventure.
Come to think of it, does Tatanga even have any minions? All we’ve encountered so far are animals, jerks, or some combination of the two, and King Totomesu was under a spell! Who is this guy?

The Yurarin Boo is a capable swimmer, but is also able to leave the water by expanding its belly with hydrogen gas, which it can then release as a blast of fire.

Neighbouring the Birabuto Kingdom is a string of sun-kissed islands known collectively as Muda.
The phenomenon of undeath is well-known to residents of the Mushroom Kingdom, and it can be witnessed in Sarasaland as well. The Honen is actually the skeleton of a large fish called the Torion, that still possesses the strength to throw itself out of the water at the living that walk past.
Apparently they became this way after being eaten by Tatanga! This guy sounds scarier by the minute!

The Birabuto Kingdom is complete!
So that’s way more progress than I was expecting to make in one weekend! Thank you so much to everyone that has enjoyed and shared my art so far!
In my first post I said that, in order to ensure I don’t burn out, updates may be fairly inconsistent at times. That’s going to take effect from now. I want to work on other projects in the meantime (and I’m man-adjacent person enough to admit that absolutely nothing is happening next weekend that isn’t Me Playing Smash Bros), but I promise you that this journey will see its proper end at some point.
Thanks again! Next stop, the Muda Kingdom!

The four kingdoms that make up Sarasaland each have their own ruler that answers to Princess Daisy (with the exception of the Chai Kingdom, where she resides), as well as defends the realm on her behalf. In the Birabuto Kingdom, this role falls upon the mighty King Totomesu, ferocious king of the Gao.
During his conquest of Sarasaland, Tatanga was quick to bring the kingdoms’ rulers to heel by way of powerful hypnosis. Facing him head on is... not a great idea, even for Mario. Thankfully, the alien technology that keeps King Totomesu under Tatanga’s control is not far away, so the safer option is to evade his attacks and break the spell.

What is nowadays the Birabuto Kingdom was once home to a far older civilisation. This civilisation is shrouded in mystery, making its ruins a tantalising prospect for archaeologists worldwide. They would do well to watch their step however, lest they bump into a Gao.
Gao have a friendly, loyal temperament, and can actually make great pets! They are also fiercely territorial and will not hesitate to ward off intruders with a well-aimed fireball.

The Bunbun is much more aggressive than its Fly cousins. Able to fashion spears, the Bunbun takes to the sky to hurl them at just about anything it sees. Though its aim is far from perfect it is a master flyer, so your best bet is to bring it down to earth, or else get moving.

Sarasaland is divided into four smaller kingdoms. The first of these that Mario visits on his quest is the desert kingdom of Birabuto.
The skies of the Birabuto Kingdom are dominated by Flies that have grown to gargantuan proportions. Squash them before they squash you!

The Bullet Bill family is represented in Sarasaland by the Gira, also known as the Bullet Biff. Though they are one of the smaller species, they are also one of the fastest.

Wherever in the world there are pipes, there are Piranha Plants. Sarasaland is home to its own unique variant, the Pakkun Flower. It is recognisable by its distinctive head, which appears to be split into two separate parts, placing extra strain on its powerful lips.

Sarasaland is also home to a species of Koopa called the Nokobon. Its shell sits higher on its body than those of its cousins, an early hint to its ferocious unique ability. A powerful enough blow will cause unstable chemicals stored in its shell to ignite, taking the Nokobon (and, with any luck, its attacker) out in a fiery blast.
Its other name, the Bombshell Koopa, is well deserved.

The Chibibo, or Goombo as it is also known, is a species of Goomba native to Sarasaland. Though rounder and smaller than the Goombas of the Mushroom Kingdom (they also lack their cousins’ distinctive eyebrows), their temperament and fighting prowess is much the same. Bop and move on.

Princess Daisy, the ruler of Sarasaland and a close friend of Princess Peach. Peach has sent Mario to Sarasaland to rescue her from the clutches of the mysterious spaceman Tatanga!
There isn’t a sport that she doesn’t excel at, and she has a right hook that can even send Bowser flying! Kidnapping her must have been no small feat! This Tatanga guy must be built like a mountain!

Welcome to Welcome to Super Mario Land! (Welcome!)
For a long time I’ve wanted to go through a single videogame and draw every character, and I’ve decided on Super Mario Land!
Part of doing this properly is to ensure I don’t get burned out, so I can’t guarantee a constant update schedule - some drawings might come not long after the last, some might take a while. I hope you enjoy the journey!
To start off with, the hero of our quest, Mario! You might have heard of him.
