So Abarat was going to be a trilogy
Then Quartet
Now Quintent
And I know we've been waiting 14 years just for book 4
But
I think he should add one more book
6 books
Call that
A Sextant

Hello Abarat fandom, are you still alive out there??
I'm rereading these books for the first time in a few years and was struck that I'd never drawn these two together. Sometimes a family is a centuries-old seamstress bent on world domination and the orphaned grandson she absolutely despises
Anyway I looove Clive's painting of a young Christopher so I had to pay my homage to it <3

I dreamed I spoke in another's language, I dreamed I lived in another's skin, I dreamed I was my own beloved, I dreamed I was a tiger's kin.
I dreamed that Eden lived inside me, And when I breathed a garden came, I dreamed I knew all of Creation, I dreamed I knew the Creator's name.
I dreamed--and this dream was the finest-- That all I dreamed was real and true, And we would live in joy forever, You in me, and me in you. ― Clive Barker, Abarat: Days of Magic, Nights of War

An interview with Clive Barker, (The Thirty-Fifth Revelatory Interview By Phil & Sarah Stokes, 10 November 2020) reveals some fun info about Abarat (and a wealth of other things C. Barker is working on!)
Read it here on the official Clive Website: “On The Way To Heaven, We Had A Picnic Of Ideas…”
Some highlights I thought were interesting, more below the Read More:
