I’m getting fed up with this whole “feminism as an identity” thing. Time for “feminism as an action.”
So instead of asking “can a feminist do x?” ask “is doing x a feminist action!”
Can a feminist take her husband’s last name? Mu. Null. Question un-valid, please un-ask question.
Is taking your husband’s last name a feminist action? No it isn’t. It doesn’t challenge the patriarchy in anyway, it is the status quo thing to do, it is what is expected of women, and it carries a lot of historical baggage about ownership and shit like that.
But that’s okay, your life choices don’t have to be 100% dictated by your politics unless you want them to. And it’s okay to really want to take his name while recognizing that you also want to do the feminist thing and keep your own, and it’s okay to feel conflicted and have a hard time making the choice. But no more of this enabling “as long as I made the choice myself it is a feminist choice” -bullshit. Own your choices, even the ones that aren’t informed by your feminist politics. You are still a human being and people do shit that contradicts their politics and even interests all the time. Just stop pretending that everything you do is feminist because you are a feminist, that’s not how it works.

the "irreversible damage" book cover is still perhaps the most succinct demonstration of how the laserfocus the detranxiety movement has on muh poor little girls is fundamentally an outgrowth of the general terror about declining (white) birth rates and white woman fertility as a dwindling resource. like, what's actually wrong with the kitschy smiling little girl in that picture? she looks pretty content for someone "mutilated." is she missing her head, brain, heart, limbs or what? anything that would obstruct her in living out her 8 decades on this earth? hell no, it's much worse than that. it's something that actually matters. she's missing her ability to produce White Babies. you're telling me we've spent decades working to overturn roe or at least make it as difficult as possible and now that we succeeded they've found a way to weasel out of being a reproductive resource anyway? that just won't do.

Cannot emphasise how OBSESSED i am with the Doctor being able to hear the show's backing music. Does he have favourites? Does he ever miss the funky classic who tunes?
Its giving Day of the Doctor novelisation, where the Doctor's vision changed when the show's colour grading did.
I love whenever they make allusions to the 4th wall or skirt near it. 1st Doctor talking to the people at home. 4th Doctor's laugh at the camera. 12th Doctor's monologues and playing of the Theme tune. Its all so wonderful.
But to put it in the forefront. To literally have him say " I Thought that was non-diegetic " (music not actually present in the world and only for the audience) to have him WINK at us.
Obsessed is too weak a word for what I'm feeling right now. I love them

I wish I could be a berries person but for every berry in the handful that is divine there is another that is flaccid and bitingly sour and secretly shriveled and malignant inside

I have a dumb fanfic concept in my head where Zagreus gets pulled through time from Mythic Greece to Dark Ages England because some skinny young mortal squire pulled the Stygian Blade out of a rock, which is a big deal apparently.
Zag is pretty sure this is a temporary situation that will sort itself out eventually, but while he’s here he might as well help train this kid to be a proper warrior and king. He also tries to explain to mortals that he’s the son of Hades, king of the underworld, but nobody quite gets it and this is how the myth of Merlin being the son of a demon starts.

Just because we defeated the Australian Wizards in our battle to Bringing Back the Sun doesn’t mean we always will. 4.54 billion years of back and forth is nothing on the scale of the universe

my favourite thing about sally jackson is how she's stayed such a romantic her whole life despite what she's gone through and nobody talks about it. she sacrificed her years of school so that she could take care of her dying uncle. she was deserted by poseidon after having his kid. she sacrificed the next few decade or so of her life taking care of percy and was repeatedly abused and put down by gabe, all while struggling to become educated, even though gabe disapproved of it. majority of her life was wasted away for the sake of other men. but she put in the work, went to college and became an author who writes romance books. she supports and roots for percy and annabeth's love and is not strict on them at all. she started a new family. she reclaimed the part of her that was a dreamer and was young to pursue her dreams, even at an age where moms are usually expected to retire.
