Non Visual Art
I understand that visual forms of art such as paintings, sculptures etc. can be expressed through the inner emotion of the artist by the form of objects or colors being used and how the art can freely express ideas, beliefs and emotions where its perceived for anyone. While the representation can be shown when artwork resembles a real object, sculpture has a codes that are actually hints that some audience can only realize when they are studying it thoroughly or when a painting is representation of certain events that some audience recognized or not.Â
While non-visual forms of art such as music, food, dance, language etc is can be expressed through the imitation from objects, movement and facial expression of the artist, transmitting the artist story or feeling toward audience by voice. Representation is a bit similar with visual forms however their representation consist of when the audience recognize the artist works by a simple glance easily, where audience is made to decipher the code of movements or languages of the artist as they dance or sing, or audience are looking for specific meaning in the work even though they dont know what to look for.

Film Theory & Aesthetics
Films are analyzed daily by their contents, themes, photography, etc. while interior design is analyzed by the forms, colors, themes, and spaces in the photograph. To my understanding, films and interior design are both artistic examples and have a few similar elements that impact their ideas, themes, settings, and people. Firstly, light is a needed element for both because it creates a visual mood and sense that would provide a sense of meaning and highlight any effects that would bring the art to life and make the audience hooked on the art. Secondly, color is a similar element found in both arts and it is highly used by them for aesthetic choice and provides an attitude to the atmosphere. For film, it's used to evoke emotional effects that would improve the storytelling creating an attraction to audiences. In contrast, interior design is used to connect with audience behavior and emotion such as blue omits calming effects that are good for bathrooms or bedrooms. Thirdly, settings are a common element that's needed in both arts and for backgrounds in their works.
Film taught me that interiors can be inspired by the people and setting of moods. Film is an art that creates a story with many backgrounds that would interpret what the characters are actually seeing as the story progresses further making the audience intrigued by the layout of the background. Interiors can also be related to a person's using it by what they actually see in their mindset.

Architecture & Aesthetics
My habits shaped my space into 2 worlds that are very different from each other. My daily habits consist of doing my school work daily creating a small mess on my table while the rest is tidy, even though I'm sharing my space with someone, it is still a difficult task to clean every corner. My space is a medium size that I feel comfortable with sharing and still have an extra area to put items for my daily school work however it can be stifling and warm in the room due to always facing the sun daily creating a change in my habits.Â
As interior designers, we have to know what are the client's habits when it comes to a certain room so that we can understand our clients who have similar suggestions clearly and easily. Any environmental situation can affect the client's habits and behavior positively and negatively which is important for everyone to learn. Creating a space that people will move through daily needs to be studied thoroughly, the space should not only express beauty but to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.
No, I never have experienced a space that affected me before.

Furthermore, âThe Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Gericaultâ expresses the suffering aftermath of a shipwreck that caused an uproar in France's history. Theodore Gericalt has a fascination on darker subjects consist of the rising of gruesome and morbid happening in France, thus, he committed in capturing the raw and visceral aspects of human suffering from âThe Raft of the Medusa accidentâ which he succeeded even though he wasn't present, creating a monument that expresses the social injustice, governmental incompetence and the struggle of survival with the human spirit by cannibalism, starvation and dehydration, (The Different Level, 2024). He showed it by employing a technique of dramatic light and shadows to enhance intensity and haunting visual impact, dominantly use of earth tones in creating a somber and desolate atmosphere which won a gold medal and criticism of the gruesome and repellant realism , (The Different Level, 2024). The painting symbolizes as a sorrowful and haunting reminder during the France from the countless figures shown such as the raft symbol of hope and despair to refuge and survive, the sea and sky symbolize the harsh and natural forces of nature that contribute in making the disaster furtherly isolating and catastrophic to the individual, the black figure waving the cloth is symbol of hope by gaining attention from a passing ship and reviving the survivor optimism, the passing ship symbol as a beacon of hope, the reminder of their isolation and how itâs easily for them to die with no rescue, and figure of the dying man with a cannibalistic gaze which raises ethical questions symbolizes the extreme measures that individuals may resort in their survival desperation, (The Different Level, 2024). Hence, Gericault designed an ideal sample for Aristotleâs Catharsis philosophy since the painting expresses a suffering tragedy that made viewers express emotions of pity and fear. Even if the painter did experience a painful experience, the painting consists of devastation and human suffering which made the viewer understand and make them live a fulfilling lifestyle.Â
In conclusion, the âWheatfield with Crows by Vincent van Goghâ is an ideal example for Kantâs Sublime philosophy as it serve a purpose for the viewers and painters while âThe Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Gericaultâ is an ideal example for Aristotleâs Catharsis philosophy as it provide an outlet for emotions and help teach the viewers the suffering and despair without being to experience it. Beauty is a melancholy figure that could be presented in an attractive or gruesome image, however it can have deep meaning which will change the image that viewers have.Â

Melancholy Beauty of Art (Part 2)
âWheatfield with Crows by Vincent van Goghâ Â is a rumor believed to be the last work before his death due to depression. His style captured many critics by the swirling of vivid colors and turbulence of brushwork infusing life into the canvas, (Ropelato, 2023). This painting represents the mind of Vincent van Gogh before his death by the amount of symbolism were presented such as âthe crowsâ for his inner despair and torment thatâs looming on his presence ominously, âthe three pathways in the wheatfieldâ symbolizes the hardships and challenges in tumultuous life which he can't escape, âthe stormy sky with vibrant yellow wheatfieldâ represents the connection with life and vitality of the natural world and his desire to find solace in its beauty, (Ropelato, 2023). This painting to express âsadness and extreme lonelinessâ and to illustrate the âhealthy and fortifying about the countrysideâ when he was reassuring on his psychological condition and expressing his love of the landscape, (Vincent Van Gogh - Wheatfield With Crows, n.d.). Van Gogh painting express an awe-inspiring purposiveness behind its production for the rational mind of the viewers about the painterâs lifestyle before his timely death which is an ideal of Kantâs Sublime philosophy, (Kant, Immanuel: Aesthetics | Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, n.d.).

Melancholy Beauty of Art (Part 1)
Beauty is a complicated concept which numerous individuals fought over through centuries, however aesthetic art can be an assistance to be expressive and overview in beauty such as paintings can capture the idea of an objectâs or person's beauty. Painters create paintings to initiate the visual image of a person's perspective from colors and expressions making their works beautiful in a sense of innocence and positivity or a sense of suffering and history though it still doesn't answer the concept of beauty. Some philosophers created their aesthetic philosophy that would help in organizing the idea of beauty and to help what idea was used in the form of paintings, namely, Kantâs Sublime, Aristotle's Catharsis theory, etc. Though, viewers are still confused on what type of aesthetic philosophy is being shown in painting and how to confirm the facts and clues will result in the correct interpretation of aesthetic philosophy. Thus, this essay will discuss what painting could be an ideal example for the key concepts of aesthetical philosophy being used.Â
To discover if an early painting consists of the key concepts of Kant Sublime and Aristotleâs Catharsis, analyzing the background of the paintings and the history, and observing how the painter and viewers express their emotions for instance, âWheatfield with Crows by Vincent van Goghâ and âThe Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Gericaultâ.Â

Hard Poverty in the century
Potato Eaters by Vincent Van Gogh is an interesting first workpiece of Vincent van Gogh to start his painting career in a peasant lifestyle; however he chose a difficult composition which was criticized harshly. Before he created the painting, Vincent van Gogh started his journey by moving to his parents home in the Brabant village, Nuened, which he decided to depict the country life and to show the lives of peasants who lived there as he admired the honest and simple lifestyle. The painting depicts the harsh reality of the country lifestyle from the coarse faces and bony working hands of the peasants and earthy colors however it received heavy discrimination and critique by everyone.Â
I recognize in the painting that it used the Neo-Naturalist theory as the painting represents the poverty of the people during the olden times by the harsh and gloomy environment and how the people had sad yet vexed expressions because of hunger and poverty. For my thoughts, I think Vincent wanted to express his early life such as where he lived and what he sees everyday. Even though painting used a dark or gloomy atmosphere that was portrayed in the public, it still made the painting a good representation and aesthetic about the lifestyle of the harsh poverty.
