I can't find the post where someone was asking for someone who smoked weed to write about James Clark Ross and (second character I can't remember) to smoke way too much weed together. I am willing and able to write this fic. But I don't remember the second character and I need someone to tell me who James Clark Ross is because I don't know a darn tootin thing about that guy. one of my most favourite things about mcdonald is how he very obviously has a scottish accent but also he’s very obviously trying not to. all of his words are incredibly crisp and clean, his pronunciation is scottish but it’s all subtle— i’ve noticed this especially while learning to write him, when i write his dialogue i expect to clip some of his words because he has a scottish accent but he doesn’t clip his words. at all. and there’s often a slight pause between words as if he’s focusing hard on the accent he wants to project.

of course this can also be due to charles edwards faking an accent for the part but i think it’s so so interesting and also fits perfectly into the show’s themes of class and nationality. because the less scottish mcdonald sounds, the more likely he will be taken seriously, especially as a doctor.

I really love this chapter because I finally get to introduce Henry Collins and Billy Orren as lovers. Which is real and true to me. And Goodsir's crush on Collins. Also real and true to me.

I am having so much fun playing with these characters and really could not be doing it without @spirkkock , who is helping me so much!

🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.

I've talked about Dundy so much, my internet friends are gonna cancel me soon. Also this is my main headcanon about him. So let's do Gore!

Gore is trapped inside the image of “the perfect naval officer” and “the perfect friend,” which makes it difficult for him to navigate his own wishes and desires. He does things because they are right or required, but when left without direction (as often happens in romantic relationships) he has no habit of finding his own way. He knows this about himself and considers it a “lack of personality” compared to his pals JFJ and Dundy, whose actions are based on a brain fart. He is not free but he will figure it out, when occasion rises.

also translated the odyssey in school, claims to prefer the original greek but secretly favors epic the musical

read an english translation on jcr's voyage, wouldn't be caught dead thinking "he's just like me fr" about the odyssey but is frequently caught drunk thinking exactly that
