This time of year is really busy for me as a uni student with finals and big projects, so things might be slowing down for a few weeks while I focus on school. But slowing down doesn’t mean stopping! I’ll still post when I have the bandwidth to make things hehe.

In the meantime, I figured I’d do a FAQ on Meet the Parents! These are questions or comments that I’ve received a few times around the AU and I figured I’d respond to them en masse.

Q: Is Donnie’s dad going to be mutated?

A: This is one of the most frequently asked questions I get lmao. The answer is eventually. And not in the way you probably think.

Q: Are Kelpie and Lord Knaw going to get together/date?

A: no.

Q: Who are the parent’s voice claims? (Or other voice/accent related comments and asks)

A: I’ll be making a voice claim video proper at some point in the future, but off of the top of my head, Kelpie is definitely Wendie Malick (i.e. Eda the Owl Lady), Lord Knaw is Keith David (i.e. Goliath from Gargoyles). I don’t have anyone specific in mind for Daisy yet, and Mr. Mustache doesn’t really talk lol.

Q: How strong is Donnie’s dad?

A: However strong is the funniest

And thank you to everyone who has sent kind words or expressed that they like my au in asks. I read all of them but I don’t generally reply to asks unless I feel I have something to add to them or it’s something like fanart, but I absolutely appreciate them! I’m glad y’all enjoy my art and story, and I have a lot of fun making it! And also thank you to everybody for 2000 followers! I’m going to make something special for the occasion when I have the time.

Part 5.

Meet Lord Knaw (pronounced like Gnaw), and Ralph’s biological father. He’s just joking….yeah.

Since Alligator Snapping turtles often grow to be the biggest predator in bodies of water they’re introduced to outside of their natural range, he’s considered a pretty big deal where he’s from (a pond a few miles outside of New York). I’m sure he hasn’t let it go to his head.

Part 4.

Some names are revealed and introductions are made! Introducing Leo’s mom Kelpie, and Mikey’s parents, Daisy and Mr. Mustache! Yes that is his real name and he wears it with pride, just like his mustache lmao.

Sorry this one took a while to come out, I had a very busy schedule last week and needed a bit of recovery time. But I’m back now!

They don’t recognize them. Just Donnie’s unmutated dad lmao. Most of the Parent’s POV is just this.

Except for Mikey’s mom, whose POV looks more like this.

I was just thinking about it and it’s honestly so silly that donnie’s dad is so affectionate with him. For context, most reptiles including what turtles i could find info on, are R-selected species, which in ecology means that the species strategy for reproduction is essentially focused on creating as much offspring as quickly as possible, with little to no parental care involved. But like- honestly i think that speaks more to how built different donnie’s dad is even before the mutagen. I mean bro can somehow properly use a screwdriver with no effort (if that last ask response where we see him holding one while a single screw falls off the vent in the background is anything to go by), ofc he has the capacity to both recognize and show a sense of affection towards his offspring even without instincts prompting him promoting him to do so. You could even say he’s a smart cookie, who doesn’t care to abide by the social norms of his species. Like father like son, indeed. 🥳

Donnie's dad gives me the vibe of being able to do stuff a normal turtle shouldn't be able to do. He'll be on the floor, everyone turns around for a second, and suddenly he's on the top of a counter/table. Nobody put him there nor knows how he got up there, he just is there now.

I’m not used to getting this many so please be patient lol. Just for my sanity I likely wont be posting replies to things that would be spoilers for the story, or things I don’t feel comfortable replying to. I also won’t be responding to just general compliments, though I super appreciate them! I just try and not reply to things I can’t really add to in order to keep my blog organized the way I like. Leo cannot fight the sibling instinct to immediately snitch to Splinter, and the bio parents have no idea what’s going on. They were turtles like two minutes ago and now they’re bipedal and are apparently overdue on child support.
