Day 10
As usual woke up at 1am for my 4am shift and the first thing to meet me the airport is the long USA customs line. On this day I did a bit of kiosk and USA SSBD and had 3 breaks I donāt know why one would have three breaks but I just followed my assigned schedule. This day was one of the less busy days I think people didnāt want to fly on this dayš
But it was a good day and being working at WestJet has been a great experience and Iāve learnt a lot and Iāve gained so much confidence and also came out of my comfort zone. I enjoyed my placement and canāt wait to see what the future holdsā¤ļø

Day 9
This days I was excited cause I had a chance to work with my other school mates itās always so good working with themš¤. Thought I had to wake up at 1am because I was scheduled at 4am and I had to make sure Iām at the GO bus terminal at exactly 2:50am so the 3am bus doesnāt leave without me it was good seeing them at 5/6am. The shift that day was normal except for the long USA customs line that was going all the way to the Canadian security line.
In between my shift this man instead of putting his wheels up he opted to place his swuitcase standing I donāt know how he didnāt read or care to askš. All I remember hearing is āmiss could you push my swuitcase out of this thingā I think in his brain he thought Iād get in the belt and do that. He was so shocked when I pulled out my phone and said I had to call the airport guys. We stood their for 5 minutes and it was all his fault cause his suitcase wheels were stuck between two belts.
After this unusual bag thing it died down for a while and I helped out at the kiosk for 45 minutes and was scheduled to go work at transboarder where I helped customers drop their oversized bags. I did this for an hour and called it a day.

Day 8
Today was just checking in the kiosk and putting in customerās information into the iPad for the COVID vaccine. Youāll be very happy if a passenger gives you the code not resistance while others pretend they donāt know what you are saying then others just give you their Expedia itinerary for you to find what your looking forš. Well if the machine lets you if usually scan their passports then after when it pulls up their name and itinerary Iād print it and itād be there but if the machine doesnāt well reading their travel itinerary for 5 minutes wonāt hurt will it.
One passenger has me writing her code on my palm because she wanted to ākeep all the papers from the machineā so she kept all of the them even the yellow back part for the bag tag you have to discardš

Day 7
Today I got a chance to seat with one of the agents at the SSBD and she showed me everything all over again she was real sweet. She showed me what to do when checking in, how to charge bag tags and even how to see the personās booking dates because one time the bag fee was $30 now itās $40. Depending on your booking time the money differs. We spent a while there before we had to move to the check in desk where I watched her do everything.
This days went by so fast

Day 6
Today was not different from all the other days it was just check in at kiosks and an occasional walk down to the USA side to make sure the oversized is checked and processed well.
I had a lady follow me all the way to the bathroom saying she needed my helpš¤¦š½āāļø. Like canāt you see Iām taking a short break cause nature is calling. She then proceeded to wait for me to finish and as I walked out she was still thereš¤. Iād understand the agency but she was just straight up annoying if you ask me to later find out she had the wrong name on both her passport and how she booked the flight.
I think the machines just need to say something else cause āsee a WestJet check-in agentā isnāt clear to some people.
But that day was just among the many days and it was number two for the days I had someone pull me out of my break to help them. The first one was when a lady saw me eating at Wendyās and rapped my shoulder to come help themš¤¦š½āāļø

Day 5
Working at arrivals
Well here thereās nothing to interesting cause you are dependent on a screen and most people are less stressed cause they have reached their final destination. The only stress youād get is when someone has lost there bag but you can easily avoid that by sending them to the help desk.

Day 4!Ā”
Well everyone speaks about hell and they say how itāll be full of pain and unpleasant stuff. But I feel they fail to talk about how being at the airport with 1000+ unpleased passengers feel like, they donāt even begin to tell you how bad and mean people can be when they had to stay at the airport for 14+hrs and have been on the phone with customers service are. They are very fast to yell at you and also ready to spite praises the minute you help them out with what they wanted. Pretty fake if you ask me but you just smile and shake it off.
I woke up very late and missed my bus so I had to Uber and cross my fingers I get to work on time. I got here with 11minutes to spare, and immediately made my way to the kiosks. I was met by a crying lady and she seemed so nice until she started yelling and I was so shocked cause I was wondering why at this early hour. I was not physically nor mentally prepared for what was coming for me let alone fake tearsš.
Well that day was a valley like itās always been, you get a busy time and you a time you just go to Wendyās and have a cold lemonade and go back to action. This day was different filled so many complaints, delayed flights, cancelled flights and missed flights. Curse words were thrown everywhere and all I can say is āplease go see and agent for more assistanceā and it would be followed by, āyou must be kidding me thereās no way Iāll go line up thereāā¦.spoiler they did line upššfelt so good seeing someoneās pride go as fast as it came in.
But as much as the day was filled with mean people I got some few nice people who really feel better compared to the ones who were mean. With all honesty that day was pretty draining on my end but I appreciate I got to see that side to prepare me for what is coming ahead.

Day 3
Hey!!! I overslept and I was so scared cause I knew I was going to miss reaching the airport. I took an Uber and I reached 12 minutes before starting time. This day was started by a woman yelling at me because she couldnāt find her PNR which was needed for her vaccine to add on the ADOC on the iPad. That was so annoying cause she was not talking to me but at me, I didnāt let that get to me and I kept helping the other customers cause thatās what I was supposed to do.
I met a very interesting guy, we did all the check in needed and when we were done he handed me a twenty dollar bill I was so fascinated but I had to turn it down cause I donāt feel it was the right thing to do. That was so kind of him and him giving me the money was him showing his appreciation but for me a simple thank you was all I needed. After this guy I had a few more customers and after that I went to sit next to an agent and I got a chance to watch him do the bag tags and walk with him to drop the bags on the other side. He talked to me about the job and his experience and I got to learn a lot from him.

Day 2
My second day!!! I was kinda nervous but I was confident. I woke up early and made sure I get there early. When I got to the airport with my friend it was extremely busy and we were both very nervous but we both have each other the loon and we were ready to take on the day. We had company that day from Tourism student studying at Humber college. It was a good experience meeting them and getting to chat with them.
Working at the kiosks was just up and down but when it was busy it would be busy then it was lay low for a while then go back to the top. I had a chance to chase a lady because she dropped her bag on the wrong area and the machine brought it out cause it was a USA bag and not a domestic bagšš. Luckily most of the customers I met that day were real nice and I was lucky that they were not mean or yelling they were understanding and they were real nice and I got to sneak a conversation or two while helping them check inš¤.

Day 1
~May 10
My first day of the placement was filled with both anxiety and excitement!!! I met my classmates and was feeling a little less nervous. We later met Matt, our trainer for the day. He was real kind. We had an orientation explaining the roles and responsibilities we need to do followed by a grand airport tour. We saw where the arrival area is, the baggage drop area and the small field that a passenger would take their furry friendš¶.
We started at the kiosk and it was all interesting. Helping people with their checking in putting tags on the bags just made it so interesting but I also wanted them to put me on their bagsšš. Below are some photos of the beautiful girls I metā¤ļø
