“why do you ship them? I thought the ship wasn’t canon?” bro we’re talking about fictional characters, who don’t actually exist in real life, from a media that focuses solely on fictional events that are not real either. so what if these two made-up characters didn’t kiss in their source material? they have lots of nasty gay sex on archive of our own and thousands of novel length slow burn enemies to lovers fics written about them. the fanon content at this point far exceeds the whole canonical franchise. the problem isn’t “it’s not canon” the problem is that you don’t allow yourself to let go of canon and enjoy the wonder of fan contents that are just as good / valid

What people expect when I say I’m a writer: writing a whole novel
What I actually do: get into a fandom or come up with an original idea, go to sleep every night thinking of the story, make imaginary scenarios and Pinterest boards, make Spotify playlists, and finally sit down to write it out 2 months later only to get another idea and abandon the story. Repeat the cycle.

I am just full on staggered that I make a post that says "I write for myself, I post for community interaction" and somebody has the nerve to tell me "post for yourself."
As if I would be getting some kind of emotional satisfaction out of laboriously editing and posting to a silent audience who doesn't want to interact or show their appreciation for my work.
If you want authors to post their work, you have to show that you appreciate them.
Fan authors write for the fun of it.
We also POST for the fun of it.
And the fun of posting it is the community interaction. The fun of posting is knowing through kudos that other people enjoyed your work. The fun of posting is being able to discuss your work, and find out what people liked about it through comments.
So if there's no community interaction, there's no point in posting what we've written if the fun part is over.

Listen, sometimes a ship is less about wanting them to kiss or have sex or whatever, and more about needing them to be so endlessly intertwined and connected to the point where they might as well be one creature.

Please, if you are a self-publishing author an indie author, learn the basics of book formatting.
Please.
The standards are in place for a reason. Margins are the size they are so that your thumb can rest comfortably on the sides of the book without blocking any text, and so you can read the text along the middle without tilting the book back and forth to see around the bend. Bleeds are so your margins don't get cut down too much when the text block is trimmed, you need them even if you don't have images in your book. Spaces between paragraphs are an internet convention and do not belong in books unless you are indicating a scene break.
Please. These rules aren't there to be mean. They are there for FUNCTIONALITY.

most important part of the writing process actually is when you loop a single song on max volume and stare at the word document and imagine the characters doing things for 14 hours. this is known as getting in the zone
