usn aircraft ron has piloted and / or been in !

a very self indulgent headcanon on my part because we were all made aware that ron was allegedly wanting to be a pilot pre-top gun '86. naturally i did a lot of digging and made that a reality later on in his timeline because he deserves it. :')

GRUMMAN F-14 TOMCAT. 1984 - 1998

ron, who attended annapolis naval academy in 1979, originally had the ambitions of becoming an aviator. however, entities above him believed him significantly more fitting as a radar intercept officer, and he began the nearly year long training program after graduation. ron would attend top gun and fly backseat for fourteen years, both to tom in mission environments and less experienced pilots outside of them.

BOEING F-18/E SUPER HORNET. 1999 - 2007

ron's time as a radar intercept officer would wrap up in late 1998, when he was selected to attend the navy's aviator program with the intention of rounding off the testing of the f-18/e as well as deploy as a super hornet pilot. ron would eventually deploy with the vaq-141 as a captain and a pilot. there, he would finish off his naval career, flying f-18/e's for eight years before retiring.

GRUMMAN F4F WILDCAT. 2010 - present

working as a commercial pilot for southwest flying both international and domestic routes, ron would pick up flying legacy aircraft in his downtime. with an innate love for the classics, the first plane he would pilot in an airshow would come to be the f4f wildcat.

VOUGHT F4U CORSAIR. 2015 - present

after five years of flying the f4f, ron set his sights on the illustrious widowmaker, the f4u corsair. the challenge of flying the f4u would make it his favorite legacy aircraft to pilot - something he would actively do between trips as a private pilot for a domestic company.
