i think as people we aren’t ment to be one thing, one style, one description. i think the reason people perceive you different is because there are a million versions of who u are. you are everyone you’ve ever loved, every lyric you’ve ever felt moved by, every hobby you swore you’d pick up and u only tried it for a month. people are ment to be a sponge. every experience is a sliver of what it means to be alive. you can be sweet but feisty, sad but full of life, beautiful but scared of judgement. its so interesting how u never really know anyone because people are always changing. u aren’t the same person u were a month ago and i think thats good

yk how harry immediately attaches himself to people who need him - ron who was poor and clueless, hermione who had no friends etc - and then you have draco who not only doesn’t need him but possesses so many things that harry doesn’t have - surety of self, a sense of belonging, parents lol - and i think that repels harry as much as draco being draco bc so much of harrys self worth is tied up in being useful
so one of the most compelling things about the ship is when harry realizes draco does need him, starting in 6th yr and then culminating in the room of req, and that changing how he views their relationship… and even MORE compelling is if draco rejects this premise 🙂 and insists he didn’t NEED harry(s friendship) actually, that was an act of charity and he didn’t NEED harry to save his life, the plan was to burn to a crisp all along, bc by then harry can see past the pride to the wobbly little boy in him too

for @gameofdrarry Exploding Snap Gryffindor Knockback Jinx card, an illustration for a fic featuring forced cooperation.
In the Great Hall, he slowly and cautiously loosened the chain between Harry’s wrists, one eye on the gears, until he thought he saw a faint flicker and yanked them five links tighter again with a jolt of panic. It wasn’t that much range of motion, but better than nothing. “Right,” Harry said. “Hermione said you’d better order me to do things.” His voice was still steady and even, as if he wasn’t afraid at all, standing three feet from a spell meant to slaughter him, in chains, in the house of his—well, his second-worst enemy. By a wide margin.
From Slithering, by Astolat @astolat
What’s Draco supposed to do when the war is over and no one is cleaning out the manor cellars? Why, do it himself of course. Which means that when he finds (what remains of) the prisoners, a nest of snake eggs, and a booby trap rigged to kill every muggle-born wizard in Brittain, he’s on his own. Oh, who am I kidding, of course Harry is going to help. This fic features ominously and perpetually turning gears, a loyal and interfering snake named Coil, Draco in 18th century regalia, and Harry Potter pretending very badly to be held against his will. And that’s just the beginning of the story.

Yasss another HP fan art! ⚡️
Istg my latest digital artworks are just like my sketchbook! A bunch of small sketches on a canvas (tho I almost never colour the ones in my sketchbook)… and I’m more than okay with that lol
My favs are definitely the Ginny n George, Ginny n Harry and Auror Ginny ones.. I see no pattern here😳 I also really love Ron’s puzzled face
There are a few more sketches on the way and maybe even an animation with Voldy👀 I really wanna explore as many characters as possible while my hyper fixation is in full swing🤭 Feel free to suggest any characters, especially ships!

这用词里有这么多门道
hi hope you’re well 😊 i just wanted to talk about a drarry moment that i think isn’t discussed as much in the fandom - which is in DH when draco is pleading for his life with a death eater, harry saves him without hesitation as they pass and draco looks around “beaming, for his saviour” 🥹 who do you think draco was thinking would be his saviour?
Sure, let's close-read a Drarry snippet :D
“I’m Draco Malfoy, I’m Draco, I’m on your side!” Draco was on the upper landing, pleading with another masked Death Eater. Harry Stunned the Death Eater as they passed: Malfoy looked around, beaming, for his savior, and Ron punched him from under the Cloak. Malfoy fell backward on top of the Death Eater, his mouth bleeding, utterly bemused. “And that’s the second time we’ve saved your life tonight, you two-faced bastard!” Ron yelled.
So first thing... is that Ron is definitely being a little uncharitable here.
The narrative voice (which you can easily interpret as Harry's internal monolog) is highlighting that Draco is in trouble - he's "pleading" (so, begging) with this anonymous death eater, and very much in need of a "savior." Draco often defaults to lying as a problem-solving solution: the faked arm injury in Book 3, bragging about escaping muggles in helicopters in Book 1, telling the other Death Eaters he doesn't recognize Harry in Book 7. All of Book 6 is really one elaborate deception, Draco lying to Snape, telling Slughorn he was gatecrashing the party. Harry also lies to get out of trouble ALL the time, so I would be very surprised if he doesn't immediately clock "I’m Draco, I’m on your side!" as a lie.
(But Ron is much more straightforward, so it does make sense he'd take Draco's words at face value.)
I think the 'savior' Draco is looking for, the person he would respond to with uncomplicated "beaming" ... is probably one of his parents. Lucius and Narcissa are currently running around (without wands!) looking for him, so it kind of makes sense that Draco would also be running around looking for them, especially since they end the book as such a tight unit, and in the films peace out before the battle is even over.
At this point, Draco trusts Narcissa (and maaaybe Lucius to a degree, but their relationship is a lot more strained.) I'm not sure who ELSE he trusts, or where else he would expect uncomplicated no-strings-attached help to be coming from. Myrtle?
But of course the obvious question is does he trust Harry. And I think... yes. Harry has just saved him from fiendfyre. In the film at least, Harry's just confirmed that he knew Draco was lying to protect him at Malfoy Manor. Harry is about to defeat Voldemort using Draco's wand. It feels "friendly" in his hand, and I just don't think that would be the case if Draco was still conflicted about Harry.
I also think that Draco does put together that Harry is the one who saves him from that unnamed Death Eater. Harry, Ron and Hermione are under the Invisibility Cloak, but they're also covered in dripping Snargaluff pod juice, so it's super obvious that there are multiple invisible people standing right there. Ron also says "that's the second time we’ve saved your life," and I think that if he'd been the one to save Draco, it'd been more of a "How many times are you going to need saving Malfoy?" or "It's your turn to rescue this git next, Hermione." He's drawing a parallel between the two different times HARRY has saved Draco life.
That explains why Draco's reaction to this whole thing is "bemused." This is the last moment of Harry/Draco interaction we see in the main story, and he's *bemused.* Puzzled, baffled. If he didn't know who saved him, I would think we'd get him described as "confused," or "looking around wildly." If he thought Ron was one to save him, his expression would have been more annoyed or resigned. But it's Harry, and he has both a long history with Harry, and a lot of feelings ABOUT Harry, feelings that are currently in the process of shifting around. Yeah I BET he's puzzled, working out how he feels about Harry Potter saving his life (twice.)

太会解读了
Why did Harry use only Expelliarmus on Voldemort but Sectumsempra on Draco? Also, if Expelliarmus was Harry's go to spell why use Sectumsempra when he could use it against Draco's Crucio?
Harry fights Draco really differently than he fights everyone else.
So okay. Normally when he fights, Harry's go-to spells are:
Impedimenta (slow down)
Petrificus Totalus (paralyze)
Stupefy (knock out)
Expelliarmus (disarm)
Which means his strategy is get away from/incapacitate his opponent as quickly as possible and that's IT. Harry is not a flashy or creative fighter the way Dumbledore, Voldemort, and heck even side characters like Percy are. Which makes perfect sense. Fighting has never been a game for Harry. It's never been abstract. He'll do all these badass things but when he talks about fighting (like we see during the DA segments) he's not thinking about it like it's something interesting or cool. He's picturing going up against a more powerful opponent, probably while injured and scared. And what's the best thing to have in that situation? Four useful, all-purpose spells that you've practiced enough times that you don't have to think about them anymore.
Zachariah Smith gives Harry a hard time for relying on a spell as "basic" as expelliarmus, which tells us that in-universe, Harry's stripped-down dueling style might be considered kind of plain or boring. But Harry's a very effective duelist, probably because he is so practical. He doesn't care about showing off, looking powerful, or intimidating his opponents.
... except when he's fighting specifically Draco.
When he's fighting DRACO MALFOY, Harry brings out the fun spells:
Rictusempra (tickling)
Furnunculus (boils)
Leg-Locker jinx
Levicorpus (levitate by ankle)
Toenail-growing hex
And also Sectumsempra, which he THINKS is going to be another embarrassing/fun spell, because levicorpus and the toenail-growing hex also came out of the Half-Blood Prince's textbook, and Harry thinks this third spell is going to be another one like that.
So my conclusion is that Harry just kind of... uniquely enjoys fighting with Draco. He's not trying to end the encounter as fast as possible, there probably is some element where he wants to show off, hit Draco with something new or something clever. Harry and Draco have a dynamic where it's *fun* to one-up/get the upper hand over each other, and duels are perfect for that.
To me this is a very natural extension of Harry's "lets plot hypothetical ways to get Malfoy expelled" (which he does with Ron, for fun) and "lets try to figure out what Suspicious Thing Malfoy is up to now" (one of Harry's very favorite pastimes.) So long story short - when Harry fights Draco, he fights like a teenager. When he fights anyone else, he fights like an auror.

❤❤真的好想看到德拉科找到自己
Even though my favorite fic of yours is The Fall of the Veils, I just keep coming back to "Another Mask behind you"; I'm genuinely not sure how I interpret the characters in that fic, especially Harry in the end. Do you consider it an open ending? Because I keep going back and forth if I think Harry (can) ever fully forgive and love Draco. I also love that Im debating w myself if I think Draco will be a "second choice" to Harry when the first choice is also him
The ending is open in that not every thread is tied, and readers can come to their own conclusions about how Harry and Draco move forward.
I had originally intended to write a much longer fic. Draco would walk on eggshells, trying to make up for what he'd done and trying to be someone Harry would love just as much as Tristan. Harry's annoyed about it, because now that he knows who Draco is, he just wants Draco to be himself. But Harry eventually comes to see how truly difficult that is for Draco; Harry would see that he wasn't making things any easier. And then Harry would launch a campaign to demonstrate to Draco just how much Harry likes Draco as Draco, encouraging Draco to be comfortable and to be himself. And Draco finally does become comfortable enough to be himself...and finds out who he really is is Tristan in everything but the name and the face.
To me part of the point of the fic is that all the times when Draco is getting super cozy as Tristan, he's convinced he's not being himself at all. But what he's being is the version of himself he wishes he could have been, without the war, without his own specific history, without the laws after the war. But that's a version of himself Draco could still be if they both let go of the past, which neither of them is actually able to do.
But I do think Harry could do it; he already starts to do it by the end of the fic. He just needs more time. And while Draco is saying to Harry over and over again "I am Tristan," Draco himself doesn't believe it, which makes it harder for Harry to deal with because Draco is not acting Tristan, who was never trodden upon and hurt by war, would act. Tristan is basically Draco safe and comfortable and in love. And I think that Harry would see that before Draco and work on giving them both the reality they really want.
I just never got around to writing this. I probably won't, now that we're here ten years later, but who knows.
