but fr tangerine (2015) was EXACTLY the type of lgbt movie i have bee digging around for: full of queer characters who have complex and different personalities while the story itself isnt all just bubbly and sweet. and the story is still sweet dont get me wrong but it shows such human and grounded characters i think i teared up a little by the end

It’s funny that we have “chick-lit” but no “dude-lit”. Women read more fiction. Literature written by men with male protagonists will still be read more by women than men. So why would we have to appoint a certain genre as “chick-lit”? It’s not female readers who struggle to find books they enjoy (and relate to) to an extent of needing a specific genre to cater to them, even if it’s in name only lol.

This movie has everything you might wish for: six characters, black and white cinematography, a space ship made up of aluminum cake pans, actual footage of a 2010 UFO scare in Chelsea, surreal dialogues that sound like they were written by Jeff Goldblum (while high), butch/alien romance, bald lesbian aliens who speak like robots, did I mention the butch/alien romance,
